In the opening scenes, while camping with 'Hugh O'Brian', Det. Gentry makes mention about life on the frontier. O'Brien played "Frontier Marshal" Wyatt Earp from 1955 to 1961 in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp (1955). Ironically, the real-life Earp was well known for his voluminous mustache. O'Brian played him sans a mustache, but in this series his character wore a mustache.
Unlike nearly every other program in the series, the same police calls overheard at the beginning each time were in real time here and audible to the characters, as Sgt. Daley turns off the police scanner the kids are listening to.
