Weaver tells Mr. Wass that the only type of injectable blood thinner he can take at home is Enoxaparin, a type of low molecular weight heparin, and that otherwise he would have to stay in the hospital to receive warfarin injections, which are intravenous and must be administered in a hospital. However heparin is another alternative, it is similar to enoxaparin as it is its parent drug and is available in a subcutaneous injection that can be self-administered, it is an acceptable alternative to both warfarin and enoxaparin, it is also cheaper and more likely to be covered by insurance.
