Quotes
-
Jake Dunham : Would you state your full name, please?
Alexis Carrington : Alexis Morell Carrington.
Jake Dunham : And your residence?
Alexis Carrington : I've been living in Acapulco for the past several years.
Jake Dunham : You were the first wife of the defendant, Blake Carrington. You're the mother of his children, is that correct?
Alexis Carrington : Yes, it is.
Jake Dunham : And subsequently, of course, you were divorced?
Alexis Carrington : Yes.
Jake Dunham : When was this?
Alexis Carrington : Sixteen years ago.
Jake Dunham : Was it what you might term an amicable divorce, Mrs. Carrington?
Alexis Carrington : No, it wasn't. It was what you might term an enforced divorce.
-
Alexis Carrington : My husband came into the bedroom, and he... he found us together. He started shouting hideous words at me. And then he picked up a candlestick, a large, brass candlestick, and he started hitting Roger with it. He hit him on the head. He hit him on the chest. He nearly killed him.
[Courtroom bursts into excited murmurs]
Judge Horatio Quinlan : [banging his gavel] Order!
Jake Dunham : Blake Carrington almost killed Roger Grimes.
-
Alexis Carrington : Blake bought people off.
Jake Dunham : "Bought people off"? What exactly do you mean by that, Mrs. Carrington?
Alexis Carrington : He bought off a lawyer.
[Andrew Laird scowls]
Alexis Carrington : He bought off one of our servants who knew what had happened, and he promoted him to a lifetime membership in the Carrington household.
[Joseph grimaces]
Alexis Carrington : He even bought off Roger Grimes.
Blake Carrington : [whispering to Andrew Laird] That's a lie. She's lying!
Jake Dunham : Are you saying that Blake Carrington paid for the silence of everyone involved in this incident, including the victim?
Alexis Carrington : Yes.
-
Alexis Carrington : Blake wanted a divorce, and he bought me.
Jake Dunham : You mean with a handsome yearly payoff?
Alexis Carrington : Oh, well, there are those who might call it handsome. I called it obscene. You see, he forced me to sign a piece of paper.
Jake Dunham : A "piece of paper"? What paper?
Alexis Carrington : A neatly typed, cold document in which I was forced to promise that I would never see my children again.
