- Kristin Shepard: [hospital parking zone] Alan. What are you doing here?
- Alan Beam: I'm here to see the great J.R. Ewing flat on his back.
- Kristin Shepard: I wouldn't go in there if I was you. He's heavily guarded. And his family's always there. I heard the police were looking for you.
- Alan Beam: They found me too. In my Chicago hotel room. Believe me, it didn't take a lot of tricky detective work.
- Kristin Shepard: Do they really think you shot J.R.?
- Alan Beam: Who knows what they thought? Oh, besides the fact that everybody knew I had plenty of reason.
- Kristin Shepard: And they had the power to bring you back to Dallas.
- Alan Beam: Well, there's all kinds of power. The Ewings have plenty of clout. I'm surprised you're still here.
- Kristin Shepard: [chuckles] Me too. But I guess... J.R. didn't have time to give his goons the order before he was shot. Are you still a suspect?
- Alan Beam: No, I was checking into a motel room in Missouri by the time J.R. was shot, so I've got an ironclad alibi. Besides, Kristin, I figured you did it.
- Kristin Shepard: I wanted to. He was so horrible to me.
- [clenches jaw]
- Alan Beam: Any idea who shot him?
- Kristin Shepard: No.
- Alan Beam: Well, I guess it's time to say goodbye. And I'm sorry the two of us were on opposite sides for so long. We could've made a good team.
- [shakes her hand]
- Kristin Shepard: Thanks.
- Alan Beam: Listen, if you're ever in Chicago...
- Kristin Shepard: I will.
- Alan Beam: Oh, I forgot. Kristin... I forgot to ask. How's J.R.?
- Kristin Shepard: [turns back from her car, smiles] He's doing pretty well.
- Alan Beam: Oh, that's too bad.
- [both chuckle]
- Paula: Is your Daddy still here?
- Lucy Ewing: No, he left a few days ago.
- Susan: Hey, Lucy, have you been to Da Vinci's yet?
- Lucy Ewing: No, I haven't.
- Bev: Oh, it's the greatest. Susan and I went last Saturday. We thought we might all go tonight.
- Lucy Ewing: I'm not interested in picking up men. I'm off of them for a while.
- Bev: So one guy gave you a bad time. It doesn't mean you have to lock yourself away forever.
- Susan: You don't have to dance or anything. Just keep us company.
- Bev: Yeah, besides, somebody has to sit with Paula.
- Paula: [as Lucy and Bev giggle] Cut it out, you two.
- Lucy Ewing: I'll think about it.
