The thought of video games being included with sports is a far fetched idea to many. Yet Major League Gaming ( Mlg ) has been trying to make it happen for years. What could be their biggest step so far seems to be complete.
The X-Games are normally formed when a bunch of skateboarders, bikers, and other extreme sports get together to form a competition. Espn even lists itself as the "worldwide leader in sports," granted they often leave out sports like hockey, it is mostly true. So when you add video games into the mix, it feels strange.
Yet that is exactly what is happening. During the X-Games Austin there will be a Call of Duty: Ghosts competition. It will consist of the top 5 teams and the top 3 teams of a recent tournement. The 8 teams will compete against each other in a double elimination, then single elimination round style tournement.

Former Espn anchor Dana Jacobson was inspired by the conclusion of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial to write candidly about her own experience as a victim of child molestation. Jacobson took to her blog on Monday to discuss her road to recovery.
"Like the young men who bravely took the stand in the Sandusky trial, I was molested as a child. That's still not easy for me to say, let alone write and share publicly, but if we've learned anything from the Sandusky scandal it's that the time for silence is over," she writes.
Jacobson, best known for anchoring "SportsCenter" and "Cold Pizza," left Espn when her contract expired in April. Now, she's making the news for revealing that when she was young, her male babysitter sexually abused her twice. She didn't acknowledge the abuse until she was in her 20s.
"It was inappropriate touching, fondling of genitalia.

Billy Bush and Kit Hoover will co-host a new entertainment news talk show, "Access Hollywood Live," to premiere Sept. 13.

The slow rollout in syndication will begin on six NBC stations, six Fox stations and one indie in Cleveland. The plan is to eventually go national and pair the show with the flagship "Access Hollywood."
Executive producer Rob Silverstein and the "Access Hollywood" team will produce "Access Hollywood Live" from Los Angeles. Stephanie Medina (AMC's "Sunday Morning Shootout") will direct "Access Hollywood Live."
"Billy Bush and Kit Hoover make a terrific pair -- engaging, lively and knowledgeable. As the 'Access Hollywood Live' team, they will bring a fresh new approach to daytime," Silverstein said.

NEW YORK -- ESPN on Wednesday announced a broad reorganization of its content division, including the renaming of ESPN Original Entertainment and expanding its reach from only TV to all platforms.
EOE, as it was known, brought to the network original movies like 3, such series as Playmakers and Tilt as well as the series Cold Pizza and Pardon the Interruption and the forthcoming eight-part miniseries The Bronx Is Burning.
ESPN also has named Keith Clinkscales, who joined the sports giant in 2004, as senior vp content development and strategies.
Reporting to Clinkscales will be Ron Semiao, senior vp original events, who will oversee such content as the ESPYs and the X Games. Senior vp Rick Alessandri will continue to focus on the X Games and ESPN's consumer products business. Content development vp Bob Wallace is working on ESPN Reports as well as other projects.
Clinkscales said Wednesday that the creative community that works with ESPN to develop shows, movies and miniseries isn't going to see a scaling down of what he called the "phenomenal history" of EOE.

NEW YORK -- ESPN Hollywood, the sports giant's attempt to bridge the gap between the sports world and Hollywood, has been canceled. The half-hour show was hosted by former Cold Pizza co-host Thea Andrews and former Saved by the Bell co-star Mario Lopez. It was recorded every weekday afternoon from ESPN's studios at KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, then broadcast at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The last show will air Jan. 26. The fate of many of the employees who began work on ESPN Hollywood when it bowed in August hasn't yet been determined; executives said they were trying to find places for them. Still uncertain, too, are the ESPN futures of Andrews and Lopez. Veteran ESPN producer Bill Bonnell, who moved to California to take the reins of the show, will return to the network. Even as ESPN Hollywood executive producer, Bonnell remained in charge of the network's Grand Slam Tennis coverage.

Former Saved By The Bell actor Mario Lopez has been named the co-anchor of ESPN Hollywood, ESPN 2's new show looking at the intersection between Hollywood and the sports world. Lopez will join co-anchor Thea Andrews, former co-host of ESPN 2's Cold Pizza, on the Los Angeles-produced show that will air weekdays at 6 p.m. ET beginning Aug. 15. Andrews has been on the team for several months but ESPN Original Entertainment has been trying to find the right co-anchor ever since. "One of the things we liked about Mario is that he really knows sports and he's passionate about what this show is going to be," Bill Bonnell, co-executive producer of ESPN Hollywood, said Friday afternoon. Bonnell is an NBC Sports veteran who has been coordinating producer for ESPN's tennis coverage.
