When "Under the Dome" premieres, viewers will undoubtedly have things to say about the troubled character of Junior Rennie, played by newcomer Alexander Koch. Similarly, Junior's twisted relationship with high school sweetheart Angie (Britt Robertson) takes a somewhat dramatic turn in the premiere, one that differs greatly from the events of Stephen King's novel.
The Huffington Post spoke to both Koch and Robertson on set in North Carolina during the filming of Episode 4, and while Robertson couldn't give many specifics about her role early on in the season -- for reasons that will become obvious later -- Koch spoke candidly about taking on one of King's most memorable characters and the places Junior might go in order to impress his father, Big Jim (Dean Norris). Light spoilers ahead.
Alexander Koch
I understand that this role was your very first after graduating drama school, which must've been incredible.

Man of Steel weekend box office: Above estimates, but real June record remains beyond the reach of Superman 2013 reboot (image: Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel) Somewhat surprisingly — it’s usually the other way around — Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel grossed more than $3 million above studio estimates released on Sunday, June 16, 2013. Directed by Zack Snyder (300, Sucker Punch), and starring Henry Cavill (The Tudors, possibly the upcoming The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), the 2013 Superman reboot scored $116.61 million from 4,207 North American locations according to weekend box-office actuals found at Box Office Mojo. Once Thursday evening figures are added, the $225 million-budgeted Man of Steel‘s domestic cume reached $128.68 million by Sunday evening. Now, Man of Steel‘s adjusted $116.61 million doesn’t change the June Box-Office Record Chart in any way. The Superman reboot remains ahead of the former official June champ, the Tom Hanks-, Tim Allen-voiced Toy Story 3‘s...

It looks like our summer is shaping up very nicely, thanks to some excellent scheduling by The Powers That Be. At least our weekends will be taken care of. True Blood will almost certainly return in its usual Sunday at 9/8c slot, so there’s Sunday sorted. We told you earlier today that Zero Hour will be airing Saturdays at 8/7c, which fits in perfectly with this latest scheduling announcement: Primeval: New World will be airing Saturdays at 9/8c, followed by Sinbad at 10/9c on Syfy.
You may recall that we told you about the Syfy pickup of Primeval: New World back in October. You’ll recognize it as a spinoff from the original Primeval which aired here originally on BBC America. On the 13-episode series, to be produced by J.B. Sugar (The Collector, jpod), Vandervoort is cast as Elena Michaels. Says The Hollywood Reporter, "Her lead character, having grown up as part of a werewolf pack, lives in Toronto as a photographer and finds her world beginning to crumble as she is caught between two worlds and two loves." "Laura has complexity and strength, and is also very relatable, making her the perfect fit for a character struggling to maintain the life she desires, while fighting against who she really is, and for those she loves," said Corrie Coe, senior vp of independent production at Space-parent Bell Media. Production is expected to begin next month.

Jj Abrams' "Star Trek" brought the long running franchise into the 21st century, capturing massive audiences and creating a whole new generation of Trekkies. The film was such a huge success that sequel rumors began to swirl as the credits started to roll.
Today, audiences finally have something tangible to salivate at in the form of the new "Star Trek Into Darkness" teaser trailer. The trailer is awesome, but what it represents is what is really exciting. It means that this movie is actually being made. While there are so many sequels and remakes being made in Hollywood these days, there are plenty of sequels that audiences have longed for years that fall by the wayside for any number of reasons.
There is a sequel to "The Collector", a gore-filled horror film that grossed a mere $7 million, but no sequel to "The Italian Job" a movie that grossed nearly 200 million.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens Friday and Summit Entertainment sent two actors to St. Louis last week to help promote the film. Charlie Bewley plays the vampire Demetri and Daniel Cudore plays the vampire Felix. Both are members of the Volturi clan.
Charlie Bewley (Demetri) made his major motion picture debut as the Volturi Demetri in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, followed by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1.
A former athlete with a penchant for travel and adventure, Bewley only took up acting five years ago, but already has a string of recent successes to his name: co-staring in the 2011 Sundance Grand Jury winner Like Crazy, and also playing a key lead alongside a stellar ensemble cast in Russian/Us collaboration Soldiers of Fortune.

We have been reading, longingly, about the upcoming Canadian spinoff of the UK dinosaurs-in-the-modern-world series Primeval entitled Primeval: New World. We thought it would be fun. Then when we heard Niall Matter (Zane on Eureka) had been cast, we got even more jealous of our northern neighbors. Then when we heard it would be promoted as “darker and scarier” than the original series from whence it sprung, it sounded right up our alley. But since it wasn’t literally up Our alley, we sat and stewed.
But that is all behind us now as we rejoice over today’s announcement that Syfy has picked up the series for the U.S. market. First we have a trailer for you to check out, so that you can be as excited as we are, before getting to the details of the press release:

With a sequel to The Avengers officially confirmed by Marvel/Disney, comic book fans the world over will be contemplating which of the publisher’s other heroes could be added to the line-up, potentially getting their own solo movie as soon as 2014 – filling the popularly acknowledged gap in the schedule alongside Captain America 2 that summer.
Of course, we have to bear in mind that Marvel Studios do not own the film rights to characters as key to their comic book universe as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine or the Fantastic Four – all of whom have allied with or become members of the Avengers at one time or another – but with that consideration in place, here is another suggestion for Marvel’s Next Avengers Film:
Moon Knight (Marc Spector)
Why?: Moon Knight is often blagged as being a rip-off of Batman. But anyone who says this clearly has not read the comics.

Variety reports that director Bruce McDonald is set to helm the supernatural thriller, 'Dark Highway.' It's a change of pace for the Canadian born director who is often attached to either low-budget films or television series. The film is described as: "Story follows a man being chased who is trying to get to a certain place in one day. He doesn't know whether the situation is real or his imagination." Sounds wacky and befitting of the director if you're familiar with some of his other works. 2008 saw the release of his low-budget zombie film, 'Pontypool.' As opposed to having buckets of blood and violence, the film focused on the way a small-town radio station staff reacted to words themselves becoming infected, causing a sort of mental breakdown. With an estimated budget of only $1.5 million, the film managed an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The director's other work includes films,...

In the heart of TNT’s latest hit show, Falling Skies, Colin Cunningham is the ladle that stirs the pot. His character, John Pope is one of the biggest draws of the show. He is TV’s latest can’t-miss character where he’s a slimy, selfish bastard one-minute and the most resourceful and street-smart survivalist the next. Cunningham is no stranger to genre shows having appeared on Andromeda, Stargate Sg-1, The Collector, and The 4400. Cunningham is also developing his award-winning short film (and 2009 Academy Award short list for nominations), Centigrade into a television show or future feature film with his producing partner Madison Graie. Centigrade was the first short film to break into the Top 10 featured downloads on iTunes. BuzzFocus caught up with Cunningham to talk about Falling Skies and his character, John Pope, the most interesting man left on the Earth. BuzzFocus: How do you like playing the loveable bad guy?...

For a Time Lord, oddly The Doctor has never had much luck with stories that include the word Time. Time-Flight. Timelash. Two examples of stories that have received a mauling from the fans, and to add to that list is the first Sylvester McCoy story, Time And The Rani.
Originally, the story was apparently called Strange Matter, which would have made for a far more interesting title. And it also sums up the story a lot better, since Time And The Rani is a very strange beast indeed. Way back in 1987, Doctor Who was still in a bad place. Following the 18-month hiatus, the show had effectively gone on trial with the mammoth wink to the audience called Trial Of A Time Lord. However, while Doctor Who did live to fight another day, it still came at a price. For one thing, Colin Baker was given the boot in unceremonious fashion,...

The web series craze hasn't seemed to catch on with the general public, but as far as the horror genre goes, we have an abundance to choose from. And today we got word of another that looks to be worth at least a few minutes of your time to check out: director and lead actor Russ Cootey's "The Resolve".
The premise is as follows:
"The Resolve" centers around Mike Patterson (Russ Cootey), a beleaguered man, gripped by O.C.D. issues with humanity, unleashed by fiery clashes on others. He explains to his therapist Sean Miller (Alex Ballar - War Wolves) how he has found a way to deal with his compulsion, which is to kill those who he believes are responsible for the misalignment in humanity.
Also starring are Ellen Dubin (The Collector, Lexx, Highlander), Kristina Hughes (Old School, Green River), Anthony Ray Parker (The Matrix, Xena), Holt Boggs (The Prodigy,...

It’s hard to believe that Clive Barker’s The Hellbound Heart was published more than 20 years ago. The novella first appeared in 1986’s Night Visions collection, and was reissued later on as a standalone book. If you haven’t read The Hellbound Heart or seen Hellraiser, the Barker-scripted-and-directed movie it inspired, then you probably shouldn’t be reading Pocket Books’ recently published Hellbound Hearts.
Edited by Paul Kane and Marie O’Regan, this anthology includes 21 tales inspired by Barker’s hellraising universe. So if you don’t know what a Cenobite is, have never heard of the Lemarchand Configuration and think Pinhead is one of the actors in Tod Browning’s Freaks, you should check out the source material and film before opening up this tome. However, if you’re familiar with and a fan of Barker’s work, then let’s open up this Box, I mean book,...

The 30th anniversary of Fangoria magazine will be honored at a special panel to be held at the 42nd edition of Spain’s prestigious Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, to be held October 1-12. Longtime Fango editor Tony Timpone will be attending, joined by British correspondents Alan Jones, Calum Waddell and Axelle Carolyn, as well as Italian correspondent Roberto D’Onofrio. The Fango salute will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. in the Tramuntana Room at the Meliá Hotel.
“For the last 30 years, Fangoria has been the cornerstone of the Sitges program’s diet,” says festival director Angel Sala, “the number-one source of information to feed the bowels of the beast. Fango has been the written witness of the horror scene around the world for over three decades. Sitges can only bow and pay due respect with a celebration for the fans.”

If you are a fan of Syfy's Battlestar Galactica, you probably know that some scenes of the series were filmed in and around the extensive forests of western British Columbia. What you may not realise, however, is that two of the show's stars - Tricia Helfer (Number Six) and Tahmoh Penikett ('Helo') - have lent their talents to a new indie docu-drama that is intended to raise awareness of issues associated with cutting down some of these forests.
The film, called The Green Chain, was written, directed and co-produced by Vancouver-born Mark Leiren-Young. His previous credits include scripts for episodes of the series The Collector, Blood Ties and Psi Factor. He has also written a book, 'Never Shoot a Stampede Queen', articles for 'Time Magazine', 'Maclean's' and 'The Utne Reader', and stage plays.
True to his roots, Leiren-Young focuses The Green Chain on the debate in British Columbia, but it...

One Variety report about The Twilight Saga: Eclipse casting, and the Twilight world knows her name. She is Jodelle Ferland, and she has recently been announced (by both Variety and herself) as a new cast member for the third in the Twilight film series. Though her role is as yet unknown, Variety states that Ferland will portray "a vampire who has just been turned." While the barely there description could apply to a host of characters in Eclipse, the most prominent (female) vampress in the book series is Bree - a newborn vampire who survives the initial vampire showdown, but whose bloodlust for Bella puts her in a precarious circumstances. Ultimately, despite Carlisle's extension of an offering to care for and develop Bree's, ahem, socially responsible behavior, the Volturi guard present after the battle will not allow for it (pennance for her work with Victoria (to be portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard...
