“The Talk” has found its new showrunner.
Hours after revealing that longtime executive producer Kristin Matthews is stepping down as showrunner after 13 years with the Emmy-winning talk show, CBS announced Friday that “The Late Late Show” executive producer Rob Crabbe will step up as showrunner for Season 14.
“I’ve loved my experience working with CBS these past eight years, and am thrilled and honored that George, Amy and David have trusted me with their signature daytime talk show,” Crabbe said in a statement obtained by TheWrap. “I’m excited by the opportunity to help bring some joy and thoughtful conversation to viewers with these five incredibly talented hosts.”

It was exactly 20 years ago on January 26, 2003, when Jimmy Kimmel left Comedy Central and came to network television to host ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
Kimmel expressed his gratitude to everyone who has helped make the show what it is today and walked down memory lane to show how long he’s been on the airwaves.
“Thank you. I appreciate that,” Kimmel said, as he was met with thunderous applause from his studio audience. “I’m not retiring. This is just an anniversary show.”
Kimmel joked that his late-night show was an instant hit after reading reviews after the show first debuted in 2003.
“And right out of the gate – we were an immediate hit,” Kimmel said. “The next day ‘The New Yorker’ said… ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ a dead on-arrival talk show with a charisma-free host.'”

The odds that “Jimmy Kimmel Live” would still be here, 20 years after its launch on Jan. 26, 2003, were astronomically low. The network hadn’t done a traditional late-night talk show since the short-lived “Into the Night With Rick Dees” in 1991, and the time slot’s previous inhabitant, “Politically Incorrect,” had been canceled due to declining ratings — and controversy over 9/11-related comments host Bill Maher had made.
Those early reviews were rough and the show struggled in its early months to book guests. And soon, Kimmel’s biggest backer at the network, then-abc chairman Lloyd Braun, was out the door.
But there was a glimmer of promise from the start: Early on, ABC execs said they were encouraged by the show’s first week national ratings, especially among young male viewers..

The loss of Goose (Anthony Edwards) still haunts the “Top Gun” films, despite Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) flying high once more.
Oscar winner Lady Gaga announced original song “Hold My Hand” for “Top Gun: Maverick,” the sequel to the hit 1986 film, in theaters May 27. The “House of Gucci” star released the emotional music video for the ballad on May 6, ahead of the “Top Gun: Maverick” premiere at Cannes in a few weeks.
Director Joseph Kosinski filmed Gaga belting the moving single while at an airfield in the desert. Flashbacks to the original film, helmed by Tony Scott, revisit Goose’s heartbreaking death as Cruise’s Maverick holds him. The follow-up film is set 30 years after the original, with Maverick now training a detachment of Topgun graduates, including Goose’s son Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller) aka Rooster, for a dangerous, specialized mission.

Once again, woman’s right to choose is at stake in the U.S. — and late-night TV had a variety of reactions to the shocking news, ranging from the comedic to the serious. Many hosts didn’t mince words when discussing the possibility that the Supreme Court might overturn Roe v. Wade, threatening abortion rights across the country.

James Corden on Tuesday’s episode of “The Late Late Show” ditched his usual news recap for something much more somber: His still-very-stunned reaction to the news from Monday that the U.S. Supreme Court’s right wing majority is planning to overturn Roe v. Wade and effectively bring an end to abortion rights in America.
And during his remarks, Corden said he and the entire “The Late Late Show” staff “stand in solidarity with women” against what he called “the biggest roll back of human rights in Modern U.S. history.”
Talking about the news is “tough today,” Corden said as he began his remarks, “’cause there really is only one new story in America today. I’m sure you’ve heard about the leaked Supreme Court decision that would overturn Roe v Wade. I think every single one of us was gobsmacked and shocked when we, when we read this.

James Corden isn’t quite sure what his next move will be after leaving “The Late Late Show” in 2023, but the trained theater actor told Variety senior culture and events editor Marc Malkin on the red carpet of the 2022 Met Gala that he’s not opposed to going back to his roots.
When asked if he’d consider a return to Broadway, Corden said, “Well I’d love that, that’d be great.”
The late night host has appeared in two plays on the Great White Way: “History Boys” in 2006 and “One Man, Two Guvnors” in 2011. He’s also appeared in a number of movie musicals, including “Cinderella” (2021) and “Into The Woods” (2014), in addition to utilizing his singing and acting chops on his show in segments such as “Crosswalk: The Musical,” where he performs mini-renditions of musicals at a crosswalk outside the CBS studio before the light changes back to green.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’s Emmy campaign appears to have been pretty prescient.
“Celebrating almost 25 years of male late-night host winners,” the TBS show’s FYC billboards joked.
This year’s late-night Emmy will be won by a man after the former Daily Show correspondent’s show, which has been nominated for the last four years, missed out on a nomination for Outstanding Variety Talk Series.
Bee was replaced in the category by Conan, ten years after the show’s last main nomination, sending mixed messages to the folk who run the WarnerMedia basic cable network. On the one hand, they will be thrilled that they’ve remained in the game and the TV Academy voters have deigned to give Conan O’Brien a lovely leaving gift, but on the other, they’ve robbed their last remaining late-night show of a spot at the table.

Conan has crashed the late-night Emmy party after scoring a nomination in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category following his exit from the medium after 28 years.
The long-running TBS show ended its ten season run last month and the TV Academy’s goodbye gift is Conan O’Brien’s first nomination in the main category – then known as Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series since 2011.
The move, however, means that sister TBS show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee misses out and it also means that all of the five nominees were male hosted shows.
The full list of noms in the late-night category are 2020’s winner Last Week Tonight, Conan, The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Corden's ensemble was so excited to meet their newest cast mates that Corden had to spritz them with a spray bottle to keep them at bay. However, things took a more serious turn when Jackman presented Corden with a list of song suggestions and the host ripped it in half. "Look, Huge is a very talented man," Corden explained, butchering the actor's name. "But he's got to realize that while he might be playing the Greatest Showman I have to live up to the mantle of actually...

It's been only a few days since James Corden and his wife Julia Carey welcomed their third child into the world. But on Thursday's episode of The Late Late Show, the host admitted the proud parents still hadn't chosen a name of their little one. Although, Corden did throw out one suggestion at the hospital. "I looked at the doctor and I said, 'We're going to call her Beyonce'….My wife did not think that was funny," the late night host said. In fact, Corden said a nurse actually thought he wanted to name the child after Queen B and started filling out the necessary paperwork. "I had to go over to her and go 'Excuse me, there's only Beyonce,'" he...

James Corden is back and now a father of three! The Late Late Show host, 39, returned to his show on Thursday night after taking some time off following the unexpected early arrival of his daughter.
“We went in for a routine check-up on Tuesday, and suddenly the doctors turned to us and said, ‘Oh no, this is probably happening today. And this baby could arrive in the next few hours.’ Which was a complete shock, we were unprepared,” Corden told his studio audience.
He went on to note that his work responsibilities proved to be problematic at the hospital, joking, “It’s a really terrible thing if you’re in a room and your wife is eight and a half months pregnant and the doctor’s talking to her about very serious things about giving birth, and there’s really no easy way to bring up the fact that you have to tape a show that day. Take...

They’ve got a whole lot of history!
Harry Styles and James Corden‘s bromance has been going strong since 2015, which might explain why Styles was the person Corden turned to when he needed to find a last minute replacement on Tuesday to host The Late Late Show as he and his wife Julia Carey welcomed their third child together.
Poking fun at his friend, Styles told the audience that he “was just at the hospital before I came to fill in and she looks a lot like James — mainly because James looks like a giant baby.”

If you're looking for love, it may be closer than you think. Many of our favorite celebrity couples first met when their mutual friends played cupid. This is definitely true for The Late Late Show host James Corden and his wife, Julia Carey, who were introduced by none other than Preacher star Dominic Cooper. James and Dominic shared a flat in London in the early 2000s after starring together in The History Boys. Julia, who is an actress and producer, had reportedly known Dominic for some years before he made introductions. It is said that the couple started dating around 2009 after James's on-off relationship with Fat Friends costar Sheridan Smith ended. James and Julia went on to marry in September 2012 and now share three children after their latest addition to the family was born in December.

Harry Styles filled in as host of The Late Late Show on Tuesday after James Corden headed to the hospital for the birth of his third child. The "Sign of the Times" singer informed viewers that Corden and his wife Julia Carey welcomed their new baby girl half an hour before the show's taping and that he had already met the newest family member. "She looks a lot like James," he said, "mainly because James looks like a giant baby." In fact, Styles got the call to substitute for Corden only hours before. "I sat at home two hours ago—in this suit obviously—and I got the call that Jules was going into labor," he said. "So James naturally called the...

Harry Styles Fills in for James Corden After Baby News, Jokes Donald Trump Deported the British Host
James Corden couldn’t make it to The Late Late Show on Tuesday night, but he found the perfect British substitute! Corden’s pal Harry Styles stepped in to fulfill his hosting duties after the 39-year-old welcomed a baby girl with his wife, Julia, earlier in the day.
But that’s not what Styles initially told the audience.
“No, your eyes do not deceive you, I am not James Corden,” he quipped. “You may be wondering why I’m hosting tonight, and yes, you are right. Donald Trump finally got sick of James’ jokes and deported him back to England.”
Styles then told the crowd on the pre-taped show that he had visited Corden in the hospital, joking, “She looks a lot like James, mainly because James looks like a giant baby.”
He then made a play for a full-time gig, joking, “This is a one-time thing, unless CBS likes what they see.”
