The best music videos take inspiration from unexpected places. For example, Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” video was partly inspired by iconic model Naomi Campbell. Lipa saw a deeper meaning in one of Campbell’s advertising campaigns and she incorporated some of its imagery into the “New Rules” clip. Lipa’s choreographer revealed how “New Rules” was meant to empower women.
Dua Lipa felt a Naomi Campbell ad showed female strength
What makes the “New Rules” clip so fascinating is its choreography. The music video depicts Lipa surrounded by female friends. Through a choreographed dance routine, Lipa’s friends prevent her from returning to a bad ex-boyfriend. In a music landscape where fewer and fewer superstars know how to dance well, the “Hotter than Hell” singer did a routine on a par with Michael Jackson at his best.
During a 2019 interview with The Cut, the “Cold Heart” singer discussed the idea behind “New Rules.

Photo credit: “Shutterstock.AI” Nearly four decades after its initial release, The Breakfast Club has kept its place as one of the quintessential films of the ’80s. Starring five members of the Brat Pack — Anthony Michael Hall, Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, and Ally Sheedy — the film, which took place in a single location on a single day, stands out as a character study that perfectly captured teen life during the era. Written and directed by John Hughes, the movie was a critical and commercial hit. However, before it hit theaters, Nelson had his doubts. Speaking on a panel at Steel City Con, Nelson told the story about how he and Estevez saw a very early rough cut of the movie … and wished he hadn’t. The gaming community just resurfaced from the Helldivers 2 chaos over the past week, only for Sony to potentially land itself in trouble again. After officially taking back its Psn linking mandate from the game made by Arrowhead Studios, it seems that the company is now pushing for the same requirement on another title. However, it might not be that bad this time around.
Publishers of Helldivers 2 have now decided to go after another game for the same Psn mandate
Made by Sucker Punch Productions, Ghost of Tsushima is another one of first-party PlayStation games, and is now under the spotlight once again as Sony is set to bring an unexpected change to the game before it finally gets released to players on PC soon.

Welcome to this week’s review of Tna Wrestling, the last weekly episode on the “Road To Rebellion.” Let’s get into the review and see what went down…
Match #1: Hammerstone def. Guido The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
This Saturday at Rebellion, Alexander and Hammerstone settle the score in a Last Man Standing match. But first, Hammerstone goes one-on-one with pro wrestling veteran, Guido! Hammerstone is in total control as he sends Guido to the outside. Hammerstone provokes Clayton at ringside, allowing Guido to gain the momentary advantage. Back in the ring, Hammerstone shuts him down with a belly-to-belly suplex. Hammerstone taunts Alexander as he places his headgear on Guido, then forces him to submit to the Torture Rack.

Zack Snyder’s Dceu was praised for many things, first and foremost being bold, but it was also more often than not criticized. Both for the choices of actors and for the creative freedoms he took with the source material.
Speaking of casting decisions, Snyder’s take on the live-action adaptations gave us one of the worst Luthors in the history of portrayals – Jesse Eisenberg. Nothing against Eisenberg of course, he just wasn’t the right fit for that role.
Luthor was heavily referenced in ‘Man of Steel,’ but his first actual appearance was in ‘Batman v Superman’. Even though a lot of people were disappointed with his portrayal of the character, he appeared in the post-credits scenes of ‘Justice League’ and Snyder’s Cut.
Now years after everything has wrapped up, Snyder revealed that there was one notable actor who had extensive talks with him regarding the Luthor role.

For years, PlayStation, being a dedicated gaming console, has offered a higher gaming experience to gamers. However, that may soon change with Sony gearing up to burn the bridges between its PlayStation console and PC gaming.
Sony’s efforts towards the PlayStation PC have been quite evident in the past few months. A few months ago the company revealed that it is now testing Psvr 2 support for PC. Meanwhile, Sony president Hiroki Totoki was reported discussing the opportunity to grow PlayStation games on PC. Just days after the discussion Sony laid off around 900 employees in its PlayStation division.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
Additionally, Sony has also launched its own PC gaming monitors and started porting more PlayStation-exclusive games to the PC.

Olivia Benson to the rescue! Mariska Hargitay isn’t a real-life cop, but that didn’t stop her from stepping into protector mode when a little girl needed help. The Law & Order: Svu star was filming an episode of the popular NBC drama in a New York City park when a child who’d been separated from her mother mistook her for an actual police officer.
Hargitay apparently didn’t miss a beat when the girl approached her, according to reports. She swiftly paused filming to help the child find her mom, with whom she was soon reunited.

The DC Extended Universe (Dceu) aimed to bring DC Comics characters together in one movie universe, starting with Man of Steel in 2013. However, things took a downturn after the release of Justice League in 2017.
A still from Justice League (2017)
Originally, Zack Snyder was directing the film. However, he stepped down from the role due to a personal tragedy — the death of his daughter Autumn, by suicide. Consequently, during filming, Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the project. The final product didn’t resonate with fans, who felt it lacked the promise of earlier Dceu movies.

Jonathan Majors was sentenced Monday to a 52-week domestic-abuse prevention program after being convicted in December of recklessly assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
The former Marvel actor was solemn during proceedings, declining to make a statement. Judge Michael Gaffey noted that “jail is not necessary” for the misdemeanor domestic violence offense, but said Majors is expected to complete the intensive course in person. He is also barred from owning or applying for a license to obtain a firearm.
Jabbari was granted a full order of protection against Majors.

Ipecac Recordings, the indie label co-founded by Greg Werckman and Mike Patton, is celebrating its 25th anniversary by reissuing three Fantômas albums on vinyl.
Werckman and Patton founded Ipecac in 1999 to release the self-titled debut by Fantômas — the experimental rock supergroup featuring Patton alongside Buzz Osborne, Dave Lombardo, and Trevor Dunn. The idea was to retain all creative control following Patton’s major label experiences with Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, and Ipecac has remained a vital and active underground label since its formation.
Expanding out from Fantômas, Ipecac has since released albums by the likes The Melvins, Mr. Bungle, Isis, Faith No More, Eagles of Death Metal, Dälek (whose debut Negro Necro Nekros is also being reissued for the 25th anniversary), and many more.
“A label does not last 25 years without consumer support,” said Werckman via a press release. “We are not the biggest or hippest record label,...

When Dune hit the theatres back in 2021, fans couldn’t believe that they had been treated to such a grand project. The movie’s ensemble, the location, meant that it was always going to reach a level that might be impossible to attain with a potential sequel. But Dune 2 has done just that. There might be mixed reviews about the sequel, but there is no denying the fact that they have done quite a job building up on the 2021 flick. And even Steven Spielberg can’t deny the same.

Following an extensive campaign by fans worldwide, Zack Snyder revealed plans to release a director’s cut of the 2017 film Justice League. The filmmaker had to leave the production of the superhero ensemble after which Joss Whedon was hired to complete the movie. Despite the anticipation, the 2017 film failed to gain a positive reception.
Justice League (2017)
However, persistent fan demand for Snyder’s original vision eventually led to the release of his version on Warner Bros.’ streaming service Max. The Snyder Cut was praised for its direction, visual aesthetics, action sequences, and performances. And the success of the Snyder Cut on the streaming platform could have potentially provided a boost to Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic Dune.
How Zack Snyder’s Justice League Might Have Impacted Denis Villeneuve’s Dune?
Following its launch in 2020, Warner Bros. introduced a strategy of simultaneous theatrical and streaming releases for several films, including Denis Villeneuve’s Dune.

There is no such thing as a perfect movie.
No matter how integral a certain film may be to the history of cinema, no matter how widely beloved it might be by a mass audience, and no matter how politically and sociologically relevant it may have been to the modern world, there is always an error, a nitpick, an omission, or a production problem that can be included. No work of art is going to be 100% unassailable, largely because a wide swath of humanity will be able to see it, and no two people are going to feel exactly the same way about it.
In modern parlance, the closest critics and audiences may be able to come to a measurable consensus is the approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The way Rotten Tomatoes works: professional critics, writing for a broad gallery of approved outlets, submit a review to Rt, selecting it to be "fresh" or "rotten.

Five years after a reboot of the 1970s cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was announced – and then never actually made – the brand has returned in an unexpected way.
Yes, the Austin-based movie-inspired fragrance house Xyrena has taken the burgeoning popularity of tomato scents and formulated the first of the ‘killer’ variety.
Developed exclusively in collaboration with the creators of the cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! franchise, “this enchanting, garden-fresh fragrance opens with a citrusy top note of sweet tangerine, transitioning seamlessly into vegetal mid notes of green stems, (killer) tomato leaf, and freshly cut grass. The filmic fragrance comes to a dramatic climax with an earthy base of wild fern, wet soil, genuine Indonesian patchouli, and South African Buchu.”
“When people hear ‘tomato fragrance,’ they might initially be taken aback. However, the scent is surprisingly pleasant, fresh, and earthy,” said Killian Wells, Xyrena’s CEO and head perfumer.

Now, the two appear to be rebranding — especially Meghan — and her newest portrait features a little piece of Princess Diana.

As film years go, 2023 was surprisingly strong. Even during a time that saw the industry still struggling to recover from the after effects of the pandemic and wracked by lengthy actors and writers strikes, Hollywood produced some memorable work.

It’s a fascinating and complicated time to be an Afropop lover, with so many people outside of Africa joining the ranks. Consider Afrobeats, a broad subgenre under the even broader umbrella of African pop, which earned 2.5 billion streams by the midpoint of 2023, per Luminate, an entertainment analytics company. That represented a 34 percent jump in streams over the year before. All of this newfound attention has made for great music, collaborations, and Irl spaces to jam — from Atlanta to Amsterdam to Abuja — but has also raised concerns around ownership, opportunities,...

After the explosive finale and three-part reunion to The Real Housewives of Salt Laky City, it would seem that Monica Garcia is out of the franchise.
But, not so fast.
The Bravo reality series and Garcia are taking a break — a “cooling off period,” Andy Cohen clarified Wednesday. That means the door for her return is still open, a source confirms to The Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking on his Radio Andy show the morning after season four concluded with the third and final reunion show, the executive and reunion host said of Garcia’s current status with the show: “We are going to have a cooling off period, I think.”
When pressed by his co-host John Hill about what a “cooling off period” means, Cohen explained that the women are currently not in a position to forgive Garcia, which makes it unlikely they would film with her again. Complicating things is...

With Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire having hit Netflix over the Christmas Holidays and its a follow-up, The Scargiver, set to debut Easter Weekend, talk has turned to when Zack Snyder is finally going to release his “Snyder cut” of the first film. According to a recent appearance on the DGA Director’s Cut podcast (excerpted by The Playlist), Snyder says he’s waiting until the second film comes out, and that fans can expect it in the summer of 2024.
He notes that the director’s cut should clock in at an hour longer than the current version of the film, stating that Netflix specifically put aside extra money so that he could shoot additional sequences. He says the idea was always that there would be a second version of the film. He maintains that this never happened on his previous director’s cuts. “All my other director’s...

After concluding spooky season with a reappraisal of Rob Zombie’s Halloween II (the Director’s Cut), we’re moving into November by kicking off a new theme of episodes on toxic masculinity. First up is Michael Haneke‘s fourth wall-breaking film Funny Games!
In Funny Games, Anna (Susanne Lothar) and Georg (Ulrich Mühe) and their son Georgie (Stefan Clapczynski) visit their idyllic lakeside vacation home, only to be terrorized by Paul (Arno Frisch) and Peter (Frank Giering), a pair of deeply disturbed young men. Paul and Peter take the family hostage and subject them to the titular “funny games,” which doubles as a critique of (American) viewers themselves.

It seems anyone who wants to see Meghan Markle back on Instagram, this writer included, will have to keep waiting. It’s almost six years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle put a ring on their relationship. Their union has taken many twists and turns since that fateful November 2017 day. When John Carpenter made the original “Halloween” in 1978, it was just another horror movie in a long line of horror movies. But the blockbuster success of this low-budget movie, about a masked killer murdering babysitters, made “Halloween” a cultural institution. The film spawned legions of imitators and codified the slasher genre as we still know it. And yet the official “Halloween” franchise has often struggled to meet the standard of the movie that inspired the craze. Let’s look back at all of these classic (and not so classic) horror movies, and see how they stack up:

14. “Halloween: Resurrection” (2002)
The worst “Halloween” movie commits two cardinal sins. First, it nullifies the intense and satisfying finale of “Halloween H20” by striking Laurie Strode’s personal victory from the record; now, not only did she kill an innocent man instead of Michael Myers, but Myers destroys her instead.

Movie theater employees have just come off of one of the biggest summers of film releases in recent years. Between Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, they have witnessed endless seas of hot pink outfits and film bros dying to mansplain World War II. Meanwhile, employees working at stadiums were spending their summer encountering a similar scene — except their audiences were dressed in the vision of each Taylor Swift studio album, and they were only interested in over-explaining potential easter eggs hidden in the high-scale production of the Eras tour.

With many questioning when the first Justice League movie in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new Dcu will debut in theaters - here's what we know about it.
In the early days of the Dceu, Warner Bros. wasted no time jumping into Justice League as only its fifth movie, with most of the main heroes not making their proper debut until that ensemble blockbuster.
But behind-the-scenes difficulties and a director switch from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon led to financial and critical disaster. And alas, no Justice League 2 ever came to pass, although the Snyder Cut did finally see the light of day.

Bella Baxter––whose organic internal makeup I’ll leave to shocking reveal––was born an adult woman. The furiously beating heart of Yorgos Lanthimos’s new film, Poor Things, she was found dead at the bottom of a bridge, an unknown life left behind her, and reanimated from Jane Doe into Bella (Emma Stone) by a bubble-belching monster. Though, that’s not what he calls himself.
Dr. Godwin Baxter––a professor-scientist who looks more like Frankenstein’s monster than Dr. Frankenstein, trenches carved through his compartmentalized face––calls himself God. He means it as a lighthearted joke, but Bella doesn’t understand it that way. To her, he is Creator. Godwin (Willem Dafoe) teaches her how to eat, breathe, sleep, shit, laugh, go outside––all the essentials. No mind his grotesque appearance, or that he involuntarily yap-croaks large oily bubbles while he eats, or the apparent character flaws: a foreboding workaholism,...

As a co-writer of 2001’s “The Fast and the Furious,” David Ayer helped launch one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time. Yet, the “Suicide Squad” and “End of Watch” director says he has “nothing to show” for his contributions to Universal Pictures’ high-octane racing series.
“Biggest franchise in Hollywood, and I don’t have any of it,” Ayer said on a recent episode of Jon Bernthal’s “Real Ones” podcast (via EW). “I got nothing to show for it, nothing, because of the way the business works.”
With 10 mainline movies plus a “Hobbs & Shaw” spinoff, the “Fast & Furious” franchise has grossed over $7 billion. A follow-up to 2023’s “Fast X,” as well as another standalone movie focused on Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, are already in the works.
“The narrative is I didn’t do shit, right?” Ayer continued. “It’s like people hijack narratives, control narratives, create narratives to empower themselves,...
