NBCUniversal’s international flight plan for Peacock starts this week: Starting Nov. 16, Sky TV and Now customers in the U.K. and Ireland will get access to the streaming service for no additional fee.
Comcast had announced plans this summer to launch Peacock as a free add-on for Sky’s satellite TV customers in Europe, representing a base of close to 20 million households. According to NBCU, after the “soft launch” in the U.K. and Ireland, Peacock will continue to roll out across Sky platforms in territories including Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland in the next few months.
Sky TV customers and subscribers to the Now Entertainment package in the U.K. and Ireland will get “early access” to the new ad-supported Peacock destination, with original and library TV shows and movies from across NBCU although the content availability will differ from what’s available on Peacock in the U.

Exclusive: Disney is shuttering Blue Sky Studios, the $5.9 billion global grossing former 20th Century Fox animation division which during its run churned out 13 features including the Ice Age franchise.
One can say that the writing was always on the wall for Blue Sky, especially after Disney acquired 20th Century Studios and its assets in March 2019. However, the past year has been challenging for Disney on many fronts, of course due to the pandemic, not just on the studio side but with theme park closures and cruise line dockings as well. Sustaining a third feature animation studio was no longer viable for Disney given the current economic realities caused by Covid. The last day for Blue Sky will be in April. The number of Blue Sky employees being impacted numbers 450. Disney will be working with the employees at the Greenwich, Ct based animation house to explore open positions at the other internal studios.

Upon the first sun-soaked glimpses of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman (of breathtaking Themyscira), Diana Prince’s standalone adventure warms with poise and confidence. Jenkins’ intent is always to nurture, humanize and assert DC’s gender-smashing heroine with crown-worthy detail. Her leadership is a howling battle cry in so many senses. As an origin story that reveals the Wonder Woman we deserve. As social commentary that kicks down the boy’s club door. But most importantly – for the DC Extended Universe – it’s a sign of things to come. Goosebumps, excitement and hoots of pleasure can all be expected from a point of view that comic book movies have been lacking across the board. Give Diana’s coming-of-heroism moment a Beyonce background track and I might have fainted – hail hail, my new queen.
Gal Gadot stars as Princess Diana of Themyscira, Aka Diana Prince, Aaka Wonder Woman. When we meet her,...

Cush Jumbo has a wish. A simple wish, really. The Good Fight star wants to find out more about her character's family and whether or not Lucca Quinn is, well, gross. "I would love to see more rooms than her bedroom," Jumbo told E! News during a set visit to The Good Fight. "I want to know why the inside of her car is so gross." Back when Jumbo was on The Good Wife, she joined for its final season, they had a scene that featured Lucca Quinn's car and the inside of it was dirty. But when she watched the scene on TV, they only showed the clean outside of the car. "So, I'd like to know if she's gross or not," she told us. Jumbo returns as Lucca Quinn opposite Christine...

Blue Sky Studios’ CGI work on Alien: Resurrection began a long and fruitful relationship with 20th Century Fox…
When Blue Sky Studios was tasked with creating swimming CGI Xenomorphs for the fourth film in the Alien franchise, its animators looked to inspiration from the natural world. Aptly for Hr Giger’s demonic creations, said inspiration was found in a Galapagos Island creature nicknamed by Charles Darwin the “imp of darkness”.
“We patterned [the Xenomorphs’] movements on reference footage of sea iguanas” Blue Sky’s Digital Effects Supervisor for Alien: Resurrection Mitch Kopelman told American Cinematographer magazine in November 1997. “They have this crazy little swim where they tuck their legs under their bodies and use this really long tail to propel themselves.” After much work, the end result was the CGI swimming aliens that pursued Ellen Ripley and co. through the flooded kitchens of the Usm Auriga in the 1997 sequel.

July 25, 1980. That was the day Dressed to Kill opened in theaters across the country, and it marked the first of countless times I would see the movie projected on a big screen, on a drive-in screen, panned and scanned for home video, even interrupted and cut to ribbons for network TV. But I’ll never forget seeing it that first time, in a cavernous old movie palace in downtown Eugene, Oregon, its lush, complex, violently dynamic and meticulously choreographed images, all set to a Pino Donaggio score which reflected precisely those same qualities, thrilling me to my core. I left that theater buzzing, even if at first I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about the movie-- it took me a few days and another screening or two to decide that the outraged cries of Hitchcock plagiarism coming from some circles were unwarranted. For me, Dressed to Kill is...

After Mara Wilson heard Robin Williams died Monday, she tweeted, "Very sad, very upset, very glad I did not have to hear about this though Twitter. Probably going to be taking some time off it for a while."
Three days later, the 27-year-old writer, who played Williams' daughter in 1993's Mrs. Doubtfire, broke her silence in a touching blog post. "Everybody grieves in their own way. When I heard about Robin's death, I was shocked, confused angry, regretful, and above all, sad," said Wilson, whose last film was 2000's Thomas and the Magic Railroad. "All I wanted was to talk to my family and friends and cry."
For now, she would like to grieve in private. "A few news outlets asked if I would be willing to talk about him on the air, and while I usually like interviews, I knew I wasn't in a good place to do that,...

Maybe these child stars are the smart ones — the ones who escaped Hollywood before their fame trains collided. They're the ones who could offer Amanda Bynes some advice. Before anyone calls these former stars has-beens, consider paying regards to their success at finding stability. Still, we miss you guys! The world isn't the same without Kimmy Gibbler and Ferguson Darling.
