Taylor Swift and Post Malone Were in the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Together Way Before ‘Fortnight’
Throughout her career, Taylor Swift has landed 232 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Included in that are the 49 songs that broke into the Top 10. Within that, 11 topped the chart. Despite having an inescapable presence in pop for over a decade, there’s one artist’s record in particular that sparked envy in her. “‘Better Now’ is so insane,” she told Post Malone when she passed him backstage at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. “I’m so jealous of that song — that hook.” Last year, in an interview with Howard Stern, Malone recalled the interaction,...

Fremantle’s Norwegian banner Monster, behind hit TV shows “Exit,” “Furia” and “Pørni, will be bringing to Series Mania Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions ‘The Odesa Wrestlers’, which has received development coin from Norwegian pubcaster Nrk.
Celebrated Norwegian podcaster Joachim Førsund and star actor Thorbjørn Harr are making their debut as co-creators, with Førsund also serving as screenwriter and Harr as episodic director.
“We’re in discussions with Thorbjørn to play one of the main roles, but nothing is confirmed,” said producer and Monster head of scripted Cathrine Simonsen.
Set in small town Elverum in rural Norway, the story turns on two young Ukrainian refugees and brothers Andriy and Mago as they join a local wrestling team, with the hope to shape a brighter future for themselves. Their remarkable skills and unorthodox methods quickly disrupt the social hierarchy in the club – headed by former world champion Willy – as well as the local youth community.

The Kansas City Chiefs did more than take down the Chicago Bears during the Sept. 24 game. Sunday night’s telecast of Fox’s “America’s Game of the Week” got the Taylor’s Version treatment and delivered a total audience of 24.32 million viewers and scoring the highest among female demographics across the ages of 12-17, 18-49 this week.
Aside from Patrick Mahomes’ successful performance, the game featured a notable cameo from Taylor Swift, who watched the game from a suite alongside Chiefs player Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna, as the Chiefs completely wiped out the competition, ending the game with a score of 41-10. The appearance likely boosted the game’s ratings as fans of the “Afterglow” singer reacted to circulating rumors of a budding romance with Kelce.

Fox’s late afternoon NFL broadcast Sunday was down some from the same week a year ago — but the most famous fan in attendance at the game may have helped drive a ratings uptick in at least one demographic.
Taylor Swift attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ 41-10 blowout of the Chicago Bears Sunday, sitting in a suite with the family of Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, whom she’s rumored to be dating. Fox’s cameras repeatedly cut to Swift in the stands during the game.
The music superstar’s presence alone wasn’t enough to lift the laugher of a game (Kansas City led 34-0 at halftime) above the same week last year, however. Fox’s telecast averaged 24.32 million viewers, the most of the weekend, but was off by about 8 percent from the 26.4 million who watched the network’s game of the week a year ago. Ratings were...

Julie Christie is an Oscar-winning actress who has been largely absent from movie screens this century, enjoying a semi-retirement that finds her returning for the odd performance here and there. Yet she’s always finding new fans as younger generations discover her cinematic classics. Let’s take a look at 20 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born on April 14, 1940, Christie rose to prominence for her work in London, starting with a breakthrough performance in John Schlesinger‘s “Billy Liar” (1963). She won the Oscar as Best Actress just two years later for Schlesinger’s “Darling” (1965), playing a fashion model who sleeps her way to the top. That same year, she shot to stardom thanks to David Lean‘s romantic epic “Doctor Zhivago” (1965), which casts her as a political activist’s wife who falls in love with a physician (Omar Sharif) during the Russian Revolution.

The Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs has announced a new album, a collection of covers called The Deep End. The project is out April 7th via Baroque Folk, while the first taste of the LP — a cover of The Rolling Stones’ 1966 track “Under My Thumb” — is available to stream now.
Produced by Peter Asher, The Deep End sees Hoffs tackle classics from the Stones, Squeeze, and Leslie Gore, as well as modern songs by artists like Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and Brandy Clark. It arrives at the same time as The Bird Has Flown, the artist’s debut novel. Pre-orders for both the album and the book are ongoing.
While she admits to loving the Stones and “Under My Thumb” — “I’ve listened to that song on repeat since it came out in the mid-’60s,” she recalled in a statement — covering the track presented Hoffs with the opportunity to practice a little gender trouble.

The 70th Academy Award ceremony on March 23, 1998, is the most-watched Oscar ceremony to date — most likely due to a “Titanic” film nominated for several awards. However, Gil Gates, who produced 14 Oscar ceremonies between 1990 and 2008, also wanted a special segment to recognize Oscar’s platinum anniversary, and arranged for 70 past acting winners to sit together on the stage, with Norman Rose announcing the films for which each performer won. It was a spectacular gathering of actors and actresses from Classic Hollywood, New Hollywood and the contemporary period.

A blockbuster film tied big records, a legendary actor set a new record, a viewership record was achieved and the Academy celebrated its platinum anniversary in a big way. Billy Crystal hosted the 70th Academy Awards on March 23, 1998, where one film made a “titanic” splash, and the ceremony saw its highest viewership of all time, with more than 55 million people tuning in — a record that stands today not only for the Oscars, but all live awards programs.
It’s a film that people either love or hate (or at least wonder what all the fuss is about), but either way, the huge impact that James Cameron‘s “Titanic” made on the film industry cannot be denied. The most expensive movie ever produced up to that time, many doubted that the romantic tragedy would result in box office gold. Popular singer Sona Mohapatra took a packed auditorium by surprise when she was called upon the stage at the ongoing Indian Film Festival of Melbourne to give away an award and judge the long-standing and popular dance competition of the festival.
The singer treated the auditorium packed with the Indian diaspora, government functionaries, including ministers and members of parliament, and the city’s mayor with an impromptu act.

Israeli series “The Lesson,” a taut half-hour series parable on the vicious spiral of social media confrontation, took top honors on Wednesday night at a spirited 2022 Canneseries festival whose main competition was buoyed by titles from some of the boldest players in the business.

Produced by Yochanan Kredo at Jasmine TV for Israeli broadcaster Kan 11 – and scoring huge numbers when aired on the network – the show, written by Deakla Keydar and directed by Eitan Zur (“Asylum City”), also exemplifies the virtues of much best Israeli TV drama: Taut, pointed writing, great acting, direction which serves the drama,...

In Monster Scripted’s seven-episode series “Afterglow,” hailing from Norway, Ester – mother, wife and a friend – finds out she has cancer. But instead of giving in to pain, she “demands joy,” actress Nina Ellen Ødegård told Variety at Canneseries after its premiere in main competition. REinvent handles sales.
“She gets desperate, in a way, and I find it so true,” she says about her spirited character who refuses to be victimized. Ødegård, also a regular in supernatural Nordic noir “Seizure,” embraced – and loved – Ester’s failings.
“After seeing the first episodes again, I thought: ‘I am so rude!’ But we wanted to show her being as human as possible, so that others can hopefully recognize themselves in her struggle. I haven’t experienced illness [knocks on wood], but when I became a mother, I was also obnoxious to my friends. I always felt like I didn’t have enough time. Genesis won’t turn it on again, staging what was billed as its final concert Saturday night at London’s 02 arena.
Phil Collins, the group’s former drummer, was joined by keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist Mike Rutherford. Collins, age 71 and increasingly frail with back and hip issues, sat center stage throughout. He was in good humor, though, reportedly quipping at one point that he’ll now need to find a real job after the band’s demise.
Genesis’ “The Last Domino? Tour” came after a 14-year live performance hiatus. It was also postponed during the pandemic. The group’s final tour included concerts in the U.K. last September and in North America last fall, concluding with another 14 concerts in Europe and the U.K.
The trio were joined on the tour by Collins’ son, Nic, who also filled in for his father behind the kit during his recent solo tours.

Grace Kinstler headed into the “American Idol” finale on Sunday as one of the frontrunners. Ironically, that may well have been the reason she was eliminated during the three-hour episode, thus missing out on a spot in the Top 2. Perhaps her fans figured she was safe and didn’t cast votes for her during the first part of the show. In our overnight poll, 31% of “American Idol” viewers said Grace Kinstler was robbed of the season 19 win.
Grace’s surprise elimination left Chayce Beckham and Willie Spence battling it out to win season 19. At the end of the night, Ryan Seacrest revealed that Chayce had prevailed over Willie. His edge may well have been the success of his chart-topping single “23,” which he reprised just moments after being declared the season 19 winner.

Early on in the season finale of Sunday night’s (May 23) episode of “American Idol,” judge Luke Bryan informed fellow country singer Chayce Beckham he earned the ultimate prize: a chance for the two of them to go fishing.

From heartbreaking eliminations to shocking disqualifications to Paula Abdul calling Simon Cowell “the Std,” it’s been an unexpectedly eventful season on American Idol. And the gag isn’t over just yet.
Three finalists remain in the competition, and after Sunday’s grand finale (ABC, 8/7c), either Chayce Beckham, Grace Kinstler or Willie Spence will become the next American Idol. That makes this our last chance to step back and take stock of the finalists, answering two important questions: First, which contestant do we expect to win? “I got pushed a lot by my parents and family,” said “American Idol” semifinalist Chayce Beckham at his audition in Ojai. “They’ve been telling me to do this. This past year has been pretty interesting for me. I’ve gone through a lot of ups and downs. It’s been quite the rollercoaster.” The 24-year old forklift operator from Apple Valley, California recovered from a drinking problem before earning his spot on the ABC reality TV competition by singing “What Brings Life Also Kills” for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. On Sunday, May 16 Beckham will compete against Casey Bishop, Grace Kinstler and Willie Spence for a spot in the Season 19 finale.

With the 2022 Grammys eligibility period more than halfway done, it’s time we take a closer look at some early contenders in the pop field. It’s the only major field without a secret nomination review committee besides alternative, so it’s typically full of big commercial hits as well as some name-checks of familiar academy favorites. Let’s dive in.
SEEThe lady doth protest just enough: H.E.R. upsets to win Best Song at the Grammys and Oscars for fighting the power Best Pop Solo Performance
Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” is probably the safest front-runner at this point in the year. The song is the biggest hit eligible so far, spending eight weeks at number-one. All but one of the last 10 winners of this category have been huge hits, with eight reaching number-one; the only exceptions are Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” which was blocked from the top...

Ethan, a 17-year-old country artist from Coalfield, Tennessee, auditioned with the song “You Look So Good in Love” and ended up being a one-chair turn for Team Blake. He next performed “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” in the battles and beat out teammate Avery Roberson.

Read on, and we’ll discuss…
