At the beginning of the series, Lorenzo Lamas was married to co-star Kathleen Kinmont. The two divorced in 1993.
Creator Stephen J. Cannell portrays Dixon in 43 of the series' 110 episodes across all five seasons. Cannell also appeared in another television series he created, Silk Stalkings (1991), though it was only as two unrelated characters in two different episodes.
During the series run, it competed heavily in syndication with Highlander (1992). Later, after both shows ended, Lorenzo Lamas would next star in the series The Immortal (2000), a show that "borrowed" heavily from the Highlander series.
Lorenzo Lamas negotiated the creation of a role for his wife, Kathleen Kinmont. He reportedly feared that a long separation from his wife would hurt his marriage, so he wanted her involvement in the series. Their marriage deteriorated anyway, and they divorced in 1993.
