It really does seem like legendary Australian filmmaker George Miller cannot miss his major projects. It really does. The visionary is the one who provided us with the Mad Max franchise, a cult classic series that initially starred Mel Gibson in the titular role before he was replaced by Tom Hardy in Fury Road. The latter is also known for introducing Furiosa, initially played by Charlize Theron, a character so popular that Miller decided to make a prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which premieres globally next week but has had its Cannes premiere only recently. Anya Taylor-Joy leads the movie, and based on the reaction at Cannes, Miller will have another major hit!
Furiosa is set to be released in theaters on May 23, 2024, which is next week, but the Cannes premiere came this week in Cannes, where it was screened as an out-of-competition feature, and the reactions were great!

In a recent interview with Xbox Wire, Charles Benoit, Game Director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, talked about the upcoming game’s dual-protagonist system. He shared details on how players will play the game. Set in feudal Japan during the Sengoku era, Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces a new approach by allowing players to take on the roles of two different characters: Naoe, a stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, a formidable samurai.
Benoit says they want to maintain the core elements of Assassin’s Creed: stealth and combat. The shinobi archetype aligns perfectly with the franchise’s focus on stealth and infiltration, while the addition of the samurai introduces a new aspect of open combat to the gameplay experience. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s poor staying power may have gotten to the team.

Assassin’s Creed has always had the advantage of being able to experiment with numerous historical settings, with each game set in a different era and usually introducing a new protagonist. Not only does this help Ubisoft keep things fresh even 17 years after the series’ debut, but it also covers a wide range of content that fans of varied tastes can get behind.
From the streets of Italy to the open world of Greece, the fanbase has visited places all across the globe, but long before the studio launched the trailer for Shadows, the community had been asking for a game set in Japan.
Now that Assassin’s Creed is finally taking action to a historical Japanese period, it raises a concerning sentiment. The franchise shouldn’t have taken this long to listen to the fans, because it may be too late.

From Star Wars Outlaws to the latest Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft seems to be following a pattern that is catching a lot of flak.
After a user on X/Twitter uploaded a screenshot showcasing a monetization strategy the company has leveraged for Shadows, fans of the franchise are quickly piling on the company for being greedy and hurting itself with its decisions.

Assassin’s Creed games have always provided a certain degree of freedom to the player when it comes to missions and challenges, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows is no exception. But the player has been limited by the character’s abilities. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate offered some variation in gameplay, where Evie and Jacob Frye had slightly different fighting styles.
Ubisoft appears to have taken a page from this game’s book but gone for even more variation in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The cinematic reveal trailer introduced us to our two main characters, Naoe and Yasuke, along with giving us a glimpse of their capabilities.
Choose Your Playstyle in Assassin’s Creed Shadows What approach will you take in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Bringing new characters to the franchise should be more than a simple gender swap option. Players could choose whether to be male or female in Odyssey and Valhalla, but the difference was purely cosmetic.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows looks poised to be a departure from the tone and tenor of its franchise, especially as of late. While last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage was always intended to be a throwback to earlier games in the series, that installment was also marketed as something of a side story—a smaller contained adventure versus the sprawling open world RPGs which compose Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla. But Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the series’ long-requested foray into the history of feudal Japan? This title is being developed by the same team at Ubisoft Québec that gave us Odyssey. So players very well might have expected more of the same.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga starring Anya Taylor-Joy is getting rave reviews from critics. The George Miller film’s screening at the Cannes Film Festival received enough positive word-of-mouth that would pull the audiences to the theaters. While the film has seemingly impressed many, it has a long road to achieve the level of success of its prequel film, Mad Max: Fury Road. The 2015 film was a huge critical and commercial success, with a 97% Tomatometer score.

Taylor-Joy’s film also stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke, and the performances of these actors were also commended by the different critics. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga had its splashy world premiere at Cannes earlier today and, as we first reported on SFFGazette.com, the first reviews are now in for George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road prequel.
The movie received a 7-minute standing ovation in France and, as we write this, it sits at 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. While not a perfect score, the consensus is clearly incredibly positive overall, with the action, visuals, and cast - led by Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth - all receiving praise.
In fact, it appears Furiosa only falls short in the eyes of some because it didn't live up to their lofty expectations.
Overall, it's looking like Miller has another winner on his hands, and providing those all-important box office numbers are good, then we're sure the filmmaker's plans for yet another Mad Max prequel (focusing on the title character) will come to fruition.

Assassin’s Creed has been an integral part of gaming history, with a long run filled with games that range from the greatest of all times to some of the most mediocre out there. It’s like fast food—sometimes you get the tastiest stuff you’ve ever tasted, and other times you end up contracting diarrhea.
Whichever side of discourse one may lie on, it’s difficult to deny the excitement and anticipation another entry in this series generates. With the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, though, some are questioning whether today’s games in the series can even be called Assassin’s Creed or not.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Latest Leak Has Left Many Excited and a Few Understandably Unhappy Fans have long wondered whether Assassin’s Creed even has an identity at this point.
Assassin’s Creed has evolved since the days of Altair and Ezio, diverging quite a bit from its origins in the process.

It’s tough to believe that Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed (AC) franchise has been taking us on adventures around the globe for 17 years now, starting with the series’ massive debut in 2007. Although a brand-new Assassin’s Creed is coming soon, the past few years haven’t been the best for the franchise.
One of the reasons behind Assassin’s Creed’s decline in the last couple of years has been Ubisoft’s constantly changing formula for the franchise. After the success of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, players expected AC Mirage to follow the same route. However, the company’s new philosophy for AC Mirage’s game design frustrated many. Now, it seems like AC Mirage’s most controversial changes might plague the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game.

It’s a known fact that Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to the record-breaking reboot, God of War is one of the most praised games that has hit the shelves in the last couple of years. The title brings engaging gameplay, a compelling narrative, and memorable characters. The game earned so much appreciation that it was a contender for the 2022 Game of the Year award.
In the last couple of years, we’ve seen Sony making a habit of porting its biggest exclusive titles to PC. So naturally, it was assumed that God of War Ragnarok would eventually make it’s way there as well. Fortunately, it looks like we won’t have to wait long for a PC port. Dealabs’ billbin-kun, one of the most reputable insiders in the community, has revealed that the PC port of Santa Monica Studio’s critically acclaimed action-adventure title is on its way.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is widely seen as the weakest of Thor’s solo films in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, it took a campy approach to Thor and his foe Gorr the God Butcher. This marked a significant departure from the more successful ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’
Chris Hemsworth admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair that he holds himself responsible for the movie’s shortcomings, regretting his role in mocking a beloved character.
Chris Hemsworth recognized that Marvel fans should get another ‘Thor’ movie after the letdown of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He had admitted before that the fourth movie was “too silly,” and it still weighs on him.
I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.
Hemsworth also confessed that he always felt his co-stars in the ‘Avengers’ movies had much cooler things to do.

2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla may be not be the biggest game in the series, but it’s the longest for sure, requiring around 60 hours to complete the main story, and around 146 hours to 100% the game. It also allowed players to choose between a female protagonist or a male protagonist.
However, Valhalla went one step further with the ‘Let the Animus choose’ option for Eivor, which broke away from the standard male/female selection by changing the character’s gender throughout the game, and according to producer Julien Laferrière, that may be the intended way to play the game.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft’s latest entry in the franchise, transports players back to the hustle and bustle of 9th-century Baghdad. Critics have praised the return to the series’ roots with its focus on parkour, hidden blade assassinations, and a smaller, more focused approach compared to the bloated Valhalla in 2020.
The newest Assassin’s Creed title may have flown under the radar among the other huge launches in the second half of 2023. However, one aspect of Mirage‘s historical accuracy deserves due credit.
A Medley Of Languages Was Key To Simulating Baghdad The busy streets of Baghdad in Assassin’s Creed Mirage have period-accurate linguistic diversity.
In an interview with Game Rant, Ubisoft historian Raphael Weyland highlighted the importance of portraying Baghdad’s multicultural identity in Mirage:
Yes, I really, really wanted to make sure that the city felt like it was inhabited by multiple people, people from multiple backgrounds.

Ubisoft is currently hard at work on multiple Assassin’s Creed titles. Two of them have already been confirmed; one is Codename Red, which is apparently set in Japan. The other more prominent one is Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, which is set in central Europe. It would supposedly be set during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire.
It would entail a story that would be crossed over with the mass hysteria during which around 80,000 people were unjustly executed for the crime of witchcraft. There’s no hint as to what the game’s protagonist would look like or who that would be. Fans are guessing that it would probably be a witch. Now a leak suggests that this game would be a scary experience for anyone who dares to play it.

/Film has the CinemaCon scoop here for you directly from the reporting of our own Ryan Scott, served up shiny and chrome. First, "Furiosa" director George Miller took the stage alongside main stars Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy, where he revealed that work on "Furiosa" was completed just last week. Whereas the original 2015 "Mad Max: Fury Road" took place over the course of three total days, Miller emphasized that the prequel film covers the period of 16 to 18 years.
Of course, Miller had nothing but high praise for his leading lady, stepping in for Charlize Theron in this prequel film. Hilariously enough, he described his casting of Taylor-Joy as motivated by the fact that she's exactly the type of person he'd enjoy hanging with during an actual apocalypse. We only think he was joking. He went even further, however, describing the necessity of casting someone who could stand up to the...

The Humble Bundle has always been a great option for those gamers who don’t want to break their banks while experiencing numerous games on PC. Ubisoft claims that Assassin’s Creed Red, one of the franchise’s most ambitious games, will finally take place in Japan. This is one of the two announced projects with codenames, with Assassin’s Creed Jade, that apparently will be delayed until 2025.
Thanks to new leaks, there are new details about key changes that will come to Assassin’s Creed Red, like fewer markers; apparently, the game will reward exploration like Elden Ring. The map will be bigger than Valhalla but smaller than Odyssey. Ubisoft is planning to launch Assassin’s Creed Red this year.
Assassin’s Creed Red has a lot of potential and will implement several mechanics from Elden Ring Assassin’s Creed Red will go back to stealth recovering the soul of the franchise.
Ubisoft is really hoping that Assassin’s Creed Red will be a complete hit, after the latest titles of the franchise were not what fans expected.

FromSoftware had to put in five years of hard work behind it and when Elden Ring came, the game became an instant hit. Elden Ring’s open-world gameplay was compared by fans and developers to that of other iconic Aaa open-world games created by Western developers like the Horizon series, and the Assassin’s Creed series.
Elden Ring became a fan favorite
FromSoftware’s Elden Ring became the target of outspoken criticism on social media by a few developers from Western developers. Their strongest criticisms were directed at the game’s difficult combat, clunky game user interface, and absence of common features like a quest log.
Western developers not happy with Elden Ring’s success
YouTuber @ENDYMIONtv in their video states that “Elden Ring pissed off an entire continent of game developers”. This is because many game developers criticized the game on different game websites and on X. These developers added...

What a day. What a lovely day! While we are still obsessing over the trailer for "The Acolyte" and the sight of a bunch of lightsabers igniting at once, George Miller slammed down his fist and reminded us that whenever George Miller has something to show it deserves our entire attention.
After the first trailer for "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" teased a cacophony of action and madness in our return to the wasteland, the latest trailer doubles down on the madness but ups the ante by focusing on the "saga" part of the trailer. Indeed, even if the synopsis wants you to believe this is a simple yet still bombastic story like "Fury Road," the trailer makes it clear this is much bigger in scope.
The new trailer provides a bit more of the story, showing how Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa was taken from her home in The Green Place,...

The new threat lurks around the players in Helldivers 2 for which they might not be ready yet. Automatons and Terminids have already made their in-game lives a living hell (which is also kind of fun) and now a new enemy is being teased. We are not talking about the third faction Illuminate but an addition to the available factions in the game.
Not too many of those tin cans are walking down there on planets like the Terminids that are spreading faster than the rabbit does. However, their capability to bring utter pandemonium can make even the fascist insectoids run for their lives. Meanwhile, this new member of the family might be the toughest they, and the Helldivers, have witnessed.

The WWE has sparked an enormous amount of interest throughout the years, with kids in their makeshift or homemade wrestling outfits roleplaying as their favorites and reenacting certain moves. The sport was able to inspire the youth and encourage them to chase their wildest dreams of becoming one of them. In the world of gaming, they certainly have left quite an impression, especially with this year’s entry: WWE 2K24 where a plethora of legendary and present wrestlers gets to share the ring and duke it out.
Sports games are a commodity at this point in the gaming space, some versions may launch perfectly while others can be a little shotty, and give or take a few months they will certainly lose value. New splatter-comedy Destroy All Neighbors has more on its mind than bad neighbors run amok. Director Josh Forbes, working from the screenplay by Charles Pieper and Jared Logan, crafts a Frank Henenlotter-inspired comedy full of guts and rock ambition. Nestled at the center is a sugary-sweet story of an artist learning to get out of his own way. While that means it has all the right ingredients in place for an infectiously scrappy horror comedy, it might be too narratively streamlined for its own good.
William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues) dreams of prog-rock greatness. He works as a sound engineer at a low-rent music studio by trade and spends the rest of his waking hours trying to crack his magnum opus that’ll earn him a place in rock Valhalla. Well, almost. William frequently finds himself distracted by everything around him, especially his neighbors. Even more so with the...

Actors Alex Winter and Jonah Ray Rodrigues face off as new neighbors in Shudder’s splatter-comedy Destroy All Neighbors, and it’s safe to say that the confrontation escalates to a lethal, gory degree.
In Destroy All Neighbors, Rodrigues stars as William Brown, a neurotic, self-absorbed musician easily distracted from his prog-rock ambitions by an apartment building full of eclectic neighbors. That includes the noisy and grotesque Vlad (Winter), who just moved in next door. When an accidental murder ensues, William’s unwitting reign of terror causes victims to pile up and become undead corpses that further derail his journey toward prog-rock Valhalla.
Contracted: Phase II’s Josh Forbes directed Destroy All Neighbors from a screenplay by Charles Pieper and Jared Logan, with story by Pieper and Mike Benner, and the splatter-comedy arrives on Shudder on January 12, 2024.

There are a lot of elements that make "Rick and Morty" unique from the average animated sitcom, but a big one is just how common it is for us to watch its titular characters die. Sure, shows like "The Simpsons" have no trouble murdering its characters in its non-canon anthology episodes, but "Rick and Morty" will casually have Rick get his head crushed with a rock in the middle of the season 4 premiere.
