Bob Clark was invited to write and direct a third Porky's film. He was interested, but also busy directing Rhinestone (1984) and said that he would have to think about a good storyline for the film. The producers didn't want to wait for him to do this, and hired Ziggy Steinberg to write a screenplay for the film. Clark hated the screenplay and was furious that the producer had it written behind his back, and as a result, he refused to have anything to do with the film.
The smallest grossing Porky's film, bringing in only $20 million, against a budget of nearly $8 million.
At the time of his premature death, Bob Clark was actively considering either another sequel to Porky's (1981) or a remake.
The picture was nominated for Worst Picture at the Hastings Bad Cinema Society's 8th Stinkers Bad Movie Awards in 1985.
