Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaIn 1973, Aaron Spelling developed two pilots with a similar theme: this one and Letters from Three Lovers (1973). In both pilots, letters were delayed in delivery by one year per accident or mischance; the delay would have a profound effect on the sender or the recipient. Henry Jones played the postman delivering the long lost letters in both pilots. Neither pilot was picked up for a continuing series.
- GoofsAs the postman drives up to Mrs. Forrester's house, it is raining, and the shot from inside the car shows both windshield wipers running at medium speed. In the next shot in the driveway, the wiper on the driver's side is running at high speed and the wiper on the passenger side is missing completely.
- Quotes
Elaine Anderson (The Andersons Episode): A woman's love is masochistic; don't you know that? no matter how happy we are, no matter how great things are going there's always that chance it'll be taken away from us.

Great Film, Unknown, Underrated
I loved "The Letters" (1973, made-for-TV). Why is it never shown on TV or available in video rental? There are lots of people out here with a bent for romantic themes. For example, "Somewhere in Time" is the greatest love story ever made, hated by the critics, but loved by the fans. Today, 20 years later, the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan has an annual "Somewhere in Time" Weekend, and it is always a sell-out.. Shows what the critics know.
