- Kate Wyler is an automotive engineer, who is married to Jim, a veterinarian. She is currently working on a project for Victor Modrian. It appears that his wife Estelle doesn't like the attention that he is giving Kate and the way that he is handling the business. One day Victor is killed, and evidence points to Kate. The most damaging evidence appears to be surveillance photo that shows Kate buying the gun that killed Victor. Kate is convicted. Later Jim discovers a homeless woman who is a dead ringer for Kate. It then dawns on Jim that this woman was probably the one who posed as Kate in the surveillance photo. He then also discovers that Estelle's behind the whole thing. But with no evidence or witness or to back his story, Jim breaks Kate out and together they try the girl who posed as Kate, while not only staying ahead of the law but of Estelle to who is trying to either get rid of the girl or them.
- Jim learns through his father that his sister is terminally ill at a hospital. He decides to visit her there whatever the risk. But old tensions are reignited and Kate frets for Jim. Meanwhile, Kate goes to the doctor to ask about a test and is told that she is pregnant.
- Jim is trapped at the hospital by FBI agents and must look for a way out.
- Jim and Kate abduct Mrs. Modrian after luring her by exhibiting a painting of Kate posing as her lookalike. The couple use a drug to put the woman under hypnosis so they can draw out some facts about the crime. But Shaw suspects and forces the painter woman to reveal the couple's whereabouts.
- Jim and Kate are sojourning in a horse farm, where they have found a little solace from their pursuers. But this peace is threatened by a news team that makes them appear on a coast-to-coast telecast seen by Estelle and Dawson. Meanwhile, at the ranch the couple discover that a female jockey is hooked on stimulants.
- While crossing through a small town, Jim is detained for a minor traffic violation. Then the lawman relates Jim with the runaway Kate and decides to arrest her too, but she manages to escape.
- Jim and Katy arrive to a small town and play as singles in order to ward off suspicions. Some townspeople are suddenly falling sick because of the water poisoned by the toxic waste dumped from the chemical plant where Katy is working.
- Following a clue that might lead them to Kate's lookalike, the Wylers befriend a woman who is looking for her missing husband.
- When the Wylers seek refuge on a military base with an officer whose life Jim once saved, they discover that he's dangerously unstable. Jim and Kate seek assistance from an army buddy of Jim's at an Army base, unknowingly that the man still suffers trauma due to bad memories from the war, which drive him insane. Another officer at the base distrusts Jim and begins to investigate him and Kate.
- Katy and Jim learn that Katy's double worked in a carny. Katy devises a scheme to extract some information from the owner. The woman worked there as a fortune teller using the alias Princess Lilly. However, the relationship between Katy's lookalike and the carny's owner was of more than friendship, which complicates the things further.
- Kate and Jim get jobs at a bar called "The Pony Espresso". Jim works as a barman while Kate serves as an electrician. They meet a duo, husband and wife, of country singers. But once they get along, Kate discovers that the woman undergoes grave sexual problems.
- Jim and Kate are given lodgings in a home for the elderly. They discover that the old people who live there are being cheated off their pensions by a gang of well-dressed crooks.
