Kelly O'Neil Jackson was born Iowa. He moved to Los Angeles with his family while still in grade school.
As a young man, he was athletic and a natural at acting, singing, and dancing. After graduating from high school however, Kelly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In his off-duty time, he continued taking acting classes and occasionally performing. One of his first acting jobs was Unsolved Mysteries (Final Appeal: The Port Chicago Mutiny) led to him joining the Screen Actor's Guild in 1993.
Following his retirement from the Corps in 2004, he turned his attention back to acting, and began taking classes in Dallas, Texas with the legendary Ken Farmer. Soon after he was signed with an agent began landing roles in national commercials, television, cable, and movies.
He was cast as the lead in M. Legend Brown's faith-based hit "Hiding In Plain Sight" and has since collaborated with M.
