After growing up in the Los Angeles/Orange County area to the sounds of Van Halen and all that great southern California rock n roll that took over in the 80's, AJ really fortified his love of music. Already very eclectic even as a child, with tastes ranging from Marvin Gaye, Hank Williams Jr to Motley Crue and more, he somehow found a guitar through a friend at 9 years old and he knew he found his path. At around 12 with some good friends his first band came into effect. Playing backyard parties and clubs like the Whiskey at 16 the fun was just beginning. This same group of friends stayed together long enough to get signed to a small label up in San Francisco.
The whole band moved up north and started playing back and forth between LA and SF. The label eventually ran out of money and the guys were left up here to fend for themselves without label support. Everybody went back to LA except AJ who immediately answered an ad and joined another band. It was with this band that he got his first cowritten song to be featured prominently in the motion picture " I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer". They ended up getting songs placed in tv shows like The Mentalist and Blue Mountain State. The band eventually broke up and AJ continued to play as a solo acoustic act around San Francisco bay area, also writing an occasional country song to shop. It was here that he got a call from a good friend who was working on American Pickers among a few other shows, he had his hands full and asked AJ if he wanted to submit some music for the show. AJ, happy for the opportunity submitted a bunch of music and was pleased to see a lot of it used pretty quickly,,, Happy to continue making music for a cool show looking forward to the next chapter
