The third Knives Out film, titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, has assembled quite a group of stars, much like the two previous mystery films. Daniel Craig will return to the sequel film with his signature Southern accent as detective Benoit Blanc.
In addition to Craig, eight other cast members have been announced so far from Challengers star Josh O’Connor to Scandal alumna Kerry Washington. 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery starred Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline and Jessica Henwick with cameos from Ethan Hawke, Jackie Hoffman, Hugh Grant, Stephen Sondheim, Natasha Lyonne, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Angela Lansbury, Yo-Yo Ma, Serena Williams and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who voiced the gong sound on Norton’s island.

The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:
Title
Johnson got the title Knives Out from a Radiohead song. When it came time to make the sequel Glass Onion, he got the title from a song by The Beatles. So it’s only fitting that the third film in the franchise have a song-inspired title as well. But while Radiohead and The Beatles were from England,...

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man receives less fan love than these superheroes in the MCU. When fans were asked to poll on the best superhero trilogy in the MCU, most of them chose Chris Evans’ Captain America trilogy and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. While the first Iron Man film remains one of the best films in the 30 billion-dollar franchise, Downey Jr.’s third film had unfavorable opinions, which made it many people’s third favorite trilogy.

Benoit Blanc returns in his most dangerous case yet. Filmmaker Rian Johnson and Netflix have announced Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment that will debut in 2025.
We first met the famed private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) in 2019’s Knives Out when he was hired to investigate the death of best-selling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Blanc teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in a twisted case filled with angry relatives, red herrings, and fabulous knitwear.
Blanc’s skills were called upon once more in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, when he headed to Greece to peel back the layers of intrigue surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and an eclectic group of disruptors.
Blanc was last seen sitting on the beach of Bron’s estate on an idyllic Greek island, calmly pondering the chaotic events of his past few days.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe lost its biggest hero when Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man fell in Avengers: Endgame, but not after saving the day/Earth 616. Ever since then, the MCU has struggled to create the kind of projects that made it such a global success in the first place.
While most fans have asked for Kevin Feige and company to focus on originality and come up with new narratives that delve into the wealth of characters the Comics have on offer, some have also pressed for a Robert Downey Jr. return. Whether that is a potential option especially considering the actor’s own wishes, Feige had previously claimed they would ‘never want to mafically undo’ Stark’s heroic death.

While this is quite a normal, human reaction, they often think of ways that these characters could come back. They get resurrected, they were never really dead, they were simply sleeping; theories spill faster than pouring rain.

The premium cable movie channel Starz has reportedly canceled three of their shows plus one upcoming project, according to Deadline. Starz will no longer be continuing the run of the wrestling drama Heels, as well as Run the World and Blindspotting. In addition, the channel has also decided not to proceed with The Venery of Samantha Bird. Heels, Run the World and Blindspotting have all completed two seasons, but The Venery of Samantha Bird was in the middle of production when the show paused for the strikes. Two episodes were left to film in the season.

There are some big changes at Starz, and it's bad news for four shows.
Variety reported Monday evening that the premium cabler has canceled Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting and is scrapping The Venery of Samantha Bird ahead of its premiere.
Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting lasted for two seasons on the premium cabler, but it seems that the trio didn't have enough interest to sustain additional seasons.
The highest profile of the three shows was Heels, which starred Stephen Amell as Jack Spade, a man who inherited the league from his father.
However, he struggled to keep things running well, leading to plenty of drama across the two seasons.
The cast also included Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, and Trey Tucker.
Rounding out the cast were Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, and Cm Punk.

Starz has axed three existing drama series and one upcoming project.

With the months-long WGA walkout looking set for imminent resolve, Starz is getting ahead of the inevitable post-strike culling. The network has canceled four original series — including one that had yet to even air.
On the block are wrestling drama Heels, comedy Run the World and dramedy Blindspotting, each of which recently aired its second season. Additionally, drama The Venery of Samantha Bird will not resume production after stopping, mid first season, when the WGA strike began in May.
Dropping four series at once is not a minor move for the cable network. Starz recently announced an end date for longtime hit Outlander, which will leave the channel and its sister streamer largely reliant on the enduring Power spinoffs and a handful of other programs like horror comedy Shining Vale. (Keeping with spin-offs, Starz has also greenlit a 10-episode prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood from the executive producers of the original.

Starz announced the cancellation of four of its series, including “Blindspotting,” “Heels,” “Run the World” and “The Venery of Samantha Bird,” TheWrap has learned.
An individual with knowledge of the decisionmaking told TheWrap that the shows “unfortunately did not find a large enough audience” to be renewed for more episodes. A decision has yet to be made on the series “Minx,” which aired its Season 2 finale on Sept. 8.
The decision to remove the shows from the slate came after strong consideration, and per the insider, the network hopes to work with Rafael Casal (“Blindspotting”), Daveed Diggs (“Blindspotting”), Rachelle Williams-Benary (“Run the World”) and Mike O’Malley (“Heels”) in the future. Each of these shows have all aired their second seasons.
“The Venery of Samantha,” starring Katherine Langford and created by Anna Moriarty, only had two more episodes of its first season left to film, but the writers’ and actors’ strikes impacted its cancellation.

An Invasion Is Imminent, according to Brian Duffield, who wrote and directed 20th Century Studios’ “No One Will Save You,” a sci-fi psychological thriller told through the eyes of a lonely young woman with a painful backstory. “I wanted the movie to take the lead of a small intimate character study and drop an alien invasion on top of them,” says Duffield. “The end of the world won’t only be for those that are ready for it, and the idea of an alien movie rudely bursting the bubble our character has spent years building and cultivating felt like a unique way to tell a favorite story.

The series stars Katherine Langford in the title role and was created by Anna Moriarty.

With the Marvel Comics we know today being founded in 1939 (originally known as Timely Comics), there are decades of stories and characters ready to be adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Navigating a Galactus-sized franchise like the MCU means we expected some characters would be lost to the Multiverse.
Whether it’s old favourites stopping by for a cameo or a brand-new addition being saved for another day, it’s more than the odd scene being left on the cutting room floor. Sometimes, whole characters are given the boot and banished to Gorr the God Butcher’s Shadow Realm. Saddle up because here are 12 characters who were once cut from the MCU.

"Knives Out" is a cozy little mystery movie, but it's also a story that's deeply interested in the political discourse of its time. Set in the long-ago pre-pandemic days of 2019, the movie treats us early on to a party conversation between a bunch of Thrombey family members that suddenly gets political. Some of the Thrombeys are Trump supporters who support his controversial immigration policies, and some of them are liberals who find his policies unforgivable.
Although the Thrombeys are far wealthier than the average viewer, this conversation is still awfully familiar to a lot of Americans, who often have to spend holiday celebrations figuring out how to peacefully interact with family members with vastly different political beliefs. Although "Knives Out" doesn't take place on Thanksgiving, it is set in New England during the fall, so the Thanksgiving vibes are there; for director/writer Rian Johnson, that connection was 100 intentional.

No one is going to be eating sh– this time.
In 2019, Rian Johnson’s comedic murder mystery “Knives Out” featured one of the most impressive ensembles in recent memory. The Agatha Christie-inspired whodunnit starred Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer (in one of his final performances), Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans (and his infamous sweater), Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell. And yet, the wildly popular and critically acclaimed film — it grossed more than 311 million worldwide — failed to snag a nom for film ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
That’s unlikely to happen to the film’s highly anticipated sequel, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” which was also written and directed by Johnson and sees Craig reprise his role as Benoit Blanc. The film follows the Hercule Poirot-like detective as he investigates a death at a destination murder mystery party.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
Rian Johnson probably could have done a great many things in the wake of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." While I'm more aware than most as to the divisive nature of the filmmaker's entry into a galaxy far, far away, at more than 1.3 billion worldwide, it's one of the 20 highest-grossing movies of all time. In the wake of that blockbuster success, Johnson decided to take a step back and do something much smaller (but not too small) in the form of 2019's "Knives Out."
Not that a filmmaker making a smaller movie after a big success is anything new, as Joss Whedon made "Much Ado About Nothing" after making "The Avengers," for example. But rarely do those smaller films themselves go on to become gigantic,...
