This might surprise you given Tom DeLonge has never directed a feature film before but Monsters of California looks Excellent, and it’s clear from the trailer alone that DeLonge has a serious talent for filmmaking. It looks like he poured absolutely all of himself into this one, even using the classic Blink 182 song “Aliens Exist” to bring nostalgic gravitas to the trailer.
Honestly, as a massive fan of Blink 182 growing up, the song usage sent chills up and down my spine.

"Dad never thought I was crazy!" Cartel & To The Stars has revealed a teaser trailer for a mysterious sci-fi thriller project titled Monsters of California, arriving sometime later this year. This has a vintage look and feel, referencing the kind of low-budget sci-fi movies they don't make anymore. Marking the directorial debut of rocker Tom DeLonge (of Blink 182 and Angels & Airwaves), Monsters of California follows the teenager Dallas Edwards and his misfit friends as they attempt to unearth answers to a series of mysterious, paranormal events happening around Southern California. They soon begin to unravel the extraordinary secrets held within the deepest levels of the Government. The film stars Richard Kind, Casper Van Dien (Johnny Rico!!), Arianne Zucker, Camille Kostek, Gabrielle Haugh, Jack Samson, Jared Scott, and Jack Lancaster. This doesn't look half bad, but there's so much going on in this teaser it's a bit hard to make any sense of it.

Former Blink-182 frontman and current Angels & Airwaves frontman Tom DeLonge is getting back into the movie business again. After producing and scoring William Eubank’s Love, as well as co-directing the short Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker, he’s now embarking on his feature directorial debut, and it shouldn’t be surprising that the story involves paranormal activity and the extraterrestrial.
Titled Monsters of California, the project comes from an original script he wrote with Ian Miller, and production is already underway. The ensemble features Richard Kind, Casper Van Dien, Arianne Zucker, Gabrielle Haugh, Camille Kostek, along with newcomers Jack Samson, Jared Scott, and Jack Lancaster.
Deadline reports the sci-fi coming of age film, which DeLonge will contribute original songs to, follows Dallas Edwards (Samson) his “derelict friends on a quest for the meaning behind a series of mysterious, paranormal events in Southern California. The truths they uncover begin...
