Paramount+’s Lawmen: Bass Reeves episode six begins with Bass Reeves (David Oyelowo) forced into spending time with Esau Pierce (Barry Pepper), who’s now a Ranger. Esau won’t promise prisoner Jackson Cole will get a fair trial; instead, he insists he’ll get what he deserves.
However, Bass has no choice but to hand over Jackson and allow Esau to take over custody.
Bass and Billy (Forrest Goodluck) make a pitstop at Sara Jumper’s place, but there’s something off. (Bass stayed with Sara when he escaped and was with her son when Esau shot him.) Billy notes that it doesn’t smell right, and after discovering the house is empty, Bass sends Billy off on his own – promising to catch up.

Tara is stressed out. Her boyfriend Carl is planning on attending college at Stanford. Even worse, her home life is a mess, something not even her best friend Suzy can help her deal with. She’s had past issues with depression which has her parents Ben and Emily concerned. That’s not entirely her fault though, she has a newborn brother, and her mother’s sister Diane was committed to an institution for smothering a newborn and burying the body, and...

The “Welcome to the Blumhouse” series of horror features has done well so far in showcasing diverse emerging talent, if not in hitching relevant social themes to stories that are actually scary. Another case in point is “Black As Night,” which joins “Bingo Hell” in a second annual quartet of Halloween releases rolling out on Amazon Prime.
Maritte Lee Go’s solo feature directorial debut is a sort of female African-American spin on “The Lost Boys,” chronicling what its heroine pegs as “The summer I got breasts and fought vampires.” It works well enough as a teen supernatural melodrama, reasonably slick if a tad silly — less well as straight-up horror, let alone as a commentary on race-centric historical and political issues that never feel more than pasted-on here.
Fifteen-year-old Shawna was born in the immediate wake of Hurricane Katrina. That disaster destroyed her family’s former house, as well as...

I’ve been a huge fan of writer/director Kyle Rankin’s work ever since I first saw Infestation. His blend of comedy and horror really appealed to my sensibilities. Which means I’m always excited to see what he does next. However all his previous efforts never prepared me for Run Hide Fight… Gone are the laughs and in comes a shockingly real look at school shootings, from inside the building.
A normal school day is brought to a brutal halt when invaded by armed students on a murderous mission. As the shooting starts and the blood starts to flow, Zoe (Isabel May) is lucky to get out alive. But then she heads back inside...
