Sexual harassment accusations against Harvey Weinstein, and his subsequent termination from The Weinstein Company, have rocked the film community and become national news. On their first episodes back after his firing, network late night hosts took various stances against Weinstein’s behavior, including how his outspoken Democratic backing has turned the story political as well. While the jabs ranged from smart and nuanced to Jimmy Fallon, it’s refreshing to see the men of late night speak out more about the issue than the bulk of their film industry peers who have remained silent.
Seth Meyers’ “Late Night” female writers delivered the evening’s smartest and most pointed take, revealing their disbelief that people were shocked to hear about the allegations, and how women at all types of jobs have to deal with this type of behavior regularly:
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” opened with the host recounting a weekend Twitter fight with Donald Trump Jr.

To explain the genesis of NBC’s upcoming military drama The Brave, series creator Dean Georgaris invokes not the strategic genius of Sgt. Major Jonas Blane or the war-is-hell mentality of Capt. Benjamin “Hawkeye” Pierce, but the poor choices made by one Walter White.
“I don’t come from a military family. I don’t have a political axe to grind. I don’t have a particular fascination with death, but I am fascinated with human resiliency and human ingenuity,” Georgaris (Life of Pi) tells TVLine. After watching documentaries about American Special Forces teams, “I was continually impressed with their ingenuity.

Will Ferrell is no stranger to changing up his look in order to fully get into character. After all, as an experienced Saturday Night Live veteran and successful actor, that’s pretty much par for the course. Whether that means donning a pointy cap and tights to play an adopted elf from Santa’s workshop, perfecting the art of playing the flute while ice skating around in a fur coat, or strapping himself into a corset and growing out his goatee to play the world’s most evil fashion designer, there’s nothing Ferrell wouldn’t be willing to do to fully get into character.

The dark side of stand-up comedy is always lurking behind the jokes, and “I’m Dying Up Here,” Showtime’s drama series set in Los Angeles’ ’70s comedy scene, aims to bring it to light. Tracking a group of comedians working a club on the Sunset Strip, the first episode slowly teases a tragedy meant to bring everyone together – even if the premiere feels unwieldy prior to the introduction of every member of this large ensemble.
An hour-long drama about the lives of comedians feels a tad antithetical even before you start counting expendable plot lines, but “I’m Dying Up Here” only exacerbates the fixable issues seen in the pilot.
What works best among the many ingredients at play is first how producer Jim Carrey and showrunner David Flebotte highlight the serious side of a world made to look lighthearted. Second, and more simply, is Ari Graynor as Cassie,...

Mission: Impossible, Avengers, Dwayne Johnson, Jurassic World, Ant-Man and more are lining up to meet you next summer. Oh, and The Statham.
With summer blockbuster season 2017 in full swing, and with Fast & Furious 8 speeding over the $1bn mark already, a bunch of filmmakers are furiously putting together their films for release this time next year (or thereabouts). Also, we’ve not included unnamed films: Universal, for instance, has reserved a slot for one of its classic monster universe movies, but not told anybody what it is yet. As more information pops up, we’ll keep this list up to date…

Jeffrey Dean Morgan may have his hands full trying to rule over post-apocalyptic communities as Negan on The Walking Dead, but that isn't stopping the actor from staying busy on the big screen, too, as he's now joined Dwayne Johnson in New Line Cinema's movie adaptation of the 1980s video game Rampage.
Deadline reports the news of Morgan's casting in the colossal creature feature. The Walking Dead actor joins a cast that includes Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Marley Shelton, Pj Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald, and Breanne Hill.
According to Deadline, Morgan will play "Agent Russell, who works for a covert government division called Oga and rolls with serious swagger and attitude." That shouldn't be a problem for someone who has brought Robert Kirkman's comic book creation Negan to life with such a menacing and charismatic touch on The Walking Dead. Morgan shared...

Johnson has been attached to flick for two years now, having signed on to play Black Adam, and he's now feeling very confident about the project. Something that may very well be adding to his confidence is that Warner Bros. may hire a longtime collaborator of his to helm Shazam!

Peyton and Johnson have worked together on Journey 2, San Andreas, and are set to make Journey 3, San Andreas 2, and Rampage together. So it's quite clear that Johnson loves what Peyton brings to the table. He...

Maya & Marty on Tuesday was pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good just Ok.
The penultimate hour of the Peacock’s variety experiment featured Jerry Seinfeld’s sit-down with Jiminy Glick and Martin Short doing his (best?) Larry David impersonation. (Fun fact: This evening marks the 27th anniversary of Seinfeld, so it was quite fitting that the comedian put in an appearance on his former network.)

While it got shut out at the Academy Awards, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have a chance to take home some gold at the silver anniversary of the MTV Movie Awards. The epic sci-fi flick received 11 nominations including Ensemble Cast as well as for Adam Driver (Best Villain) and Daisy Ridley (Best Female Performance). It was, however, shut out in the Movie of the Year category. It was also a very good year for two major comic book-based films, Deadpool (8 nominations) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (6 nominations). Both of those films were nominated for Movie of the Year alongside Creed, Jurassic World and Straight Outta Compton. In its announcement, MTV took a dig at the Oscars and the fact that there were no minority nominees in any of the acting categories despite outstanding performances by Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Will Smith (Concussion) among others. “The nominees and the...

The Star Wars universe has given its audience plenty of material to speculate over, but a recent fan theory claiming that Jar Jar Binks was really Supreme Leader Snoke is especially fascinating. Jar Jar has often been pegged as the most disliked character in the canon. A revelation that he could have conspired with Chancellor Palpatine, rather than acted as his pawn, would add a much-needed depth to a character forced to be the butt of every purist's joke. We spoke with the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the film's West Coast premiere to see where they stood on the matter.
