Bill Skarsgård is back for more haunts as Pennywise the Clown. The actor has officially joined Max’s new prequel series Welcome to Derry, reprising the role he played in the 2017 films It and It: Chapter Two.
Per Deadline, Welcome to Derry is set for release in 2025 and will land on Max. The prequel series takes place in the 1960s before the events of the film and features the origin story of Pennywise the Clown, who would go on to terrorize the town of Derry for decades to come.
Skarsgård joins previously announced cast members Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar. In addition to continuing his collaborative streak with Stephen King material after starring in Castle Rock from 2018-2019, Skarsgård is reuniting with Andy Muschietti, who directed both It films, as well as producers Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

Bill Skarsgard will return as the terrifying Pennywise in TV series Welcome To Derry, a prequel to director Andy Muschietti’s It movies.
Bill Skarsgard, who brought his singular screen presence to the role of Pennywise the Clown in director Andrew Muschietti’s It movies, is to reprise the part in an upcoming prequel TV series. According to Deadline, Welcome To Derry (said to be a working title) will explore Pennywise’s origins in 1960s Maine. The show originally began production last May, but was delayed due to that year’s Hollywood strikes.
Andy Muschietti’s 2017 and 2019 films received critical praise and did big business at the box office, with plaudits going to Skarsgard’s commitment to Pennywise, with his performance switching seamlessly between low-key eeriness and over-the-top wildness. It's impossible to overstate the popularity of "It Chapter One" and "It Chapter Two," or how Bill Skarsgård's turn as the horrifying Pennywise the Clown has become the definitive portrayal for multiple generations. Based on the terrifying novel by Stephen King, "It" and Skarsgård's ability to move his eyes independently is most certainly responsible for increased levels of coulrophobia around the globe. The otherworldly creature known as It comes in many forms, but Pennywise the Clown is undoubtedly his most famous. Since arriving in the town of Derry, Maine, It has been devouring the citizens for hundreds of years, resting for 27 years between feeding cycles.

Deadline reports that Bill Skarsgård is set to reprise his role of Pennywise the clown for the upcoming It prequel series Welcome to Derry (which may end up only being a working title).
In addition to starring in the It prequel series, Bill Skarsgård will also executive produce. When asked last year, the actor said he wasn’t involved in the series, so I think fans are relieved that he will be lending his bloodthirsty giggle to the proceedings after all. Skarsgård’s take on Pennywise was instantly iconic in my eyes, so it was hard to imagine the series either skipping the character altogether or recasting. I’m excited to see him come back.

“It is something that haunts all production designers; it’s something that requires a lot of hard work,” admits four-time Emmy-winning production designer Deborah Riley (“Game of Thrones”) about striving for authenticity and realism, ensuring the look and feel of a series never comes across as too staged or artificial. “It’s layers and layers and layers, and oftentimes it comes down to [for example] a set painter, who will just touch all of those props and touch up all of the walls, and just make sure they feel a little bit lived-in. You know, a bit of a layer of dust over everything helps,” Riley laughs during our recent webchat, adding that, “you’ve got to look at everything and squint slightly and add yourself. You never want anything to feel or look like a prop or dressing. It’s got to feel like someone to put it there for a reason.

One of Netflix’s biggest hits of this year was the sci-fi series 3 Body Problem. Adapted from the eponymous book series by Chinese author Liu Cixin, the series captured the attention of fans due to its complex story and great production, as well as the brilliantly written characters and casting choices. While a lot of fans thought it was complex and were somewhat confused by the differences between the series and the books, the series received positive reviews from critics and fans, so it was expected that Netflix would renew it for a second season. And that has just happened! We are happy to confirm that Netflix has officially renewed the 3 Body Problem for a second series!
The series has been officially summarized by Netflix as follows: “3 Body Problem explores how humanity chooses to respond to its gravest threat. Starting off during China’s Cultural Revolution in the ’60s,...

In the scientific world, there remains to this day no single solution to the three-body problem. But if you — like us — are fans of Alexander Woo and Game Of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff's Netflix series 3 Body Problem on the other hand, it turns out the solution is really quite simple. More series! And that's exactly what we'll be getting. Check out the streamer and showrunners' official announcement of 3 Body Problem's renewal below:
Now, true to the spirit of the brain-bending sci-fi series, 3 Body Problem's renewal isn't 100% straightforward. Given the massive amount of resources that Netflix committed to "3 Body Problem" (not to mention the lengthy stay at the top of Netflix's Top 10 lists since its debut), it was likely only a matter of time before the streaming giant made the obvious official. That's finally happened, and now fans of one of the nerdiest, densest, and most existential sci-fi book series ever written can look forward to showrunners and co-creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo's take on what's widely considered to be the best book of the alien-invasion trilogy.

When Game of Thrones TV series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss set out to craft an epic series called 3 Body Problem, an adaptation of a trilogy of sci-fi novels written by Chinese author Liu Cixin, for the Netflix streaming service, they were hoping to get four seasons out of the material. But when the first season of 3 Body Problem started streaming in March and pulled in a sizeable but underwhelming number of views, some began to question whether or not Netflix would want any more episodes of the big budget show. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Netflix has indeed ordered more episodes – but just enough to allow Benioff, Weiss, and co-creator Alexander Woo to wrap up the story. Exactly how many episodes that will be has not yet been revealed.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that it had “renewed” “3 Body Problem,” but the streamer notably didn’t refer to the extension as a “Season 2.” Instead, it appears to be more of a case of Netflix ordering “additional episodes” instead of a new, full Season 2 order.
Per a press release, the exact number of seasons and episodes will be announced at a later date.
It appears that the order will take the series to its finale, as creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo noted in a statement that they “get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion.” In an April interview with Collider, Benioff said the team would “need at least three, maybe four seasons to tell the whole story.”

After the series’ end, Cunningham was committed to doing another series, but the showrunners told him to ditch that show so that he could come aboard for their next epic series 3 Body Problem.

“Storytelling, and the words that they put in their actors’ mouths. They’re just glorious,” declares Liam Cunningham when giving high praise to the creators of Netflix’s hit sci-fi drama “3 Body Problem.” The series was created by multiple Emmy-winning “Game of Thrones” duo David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, who serve as co-creators and producers with writer/producer Alexander Woo (“True Blood”). For our recent webchat, Cunningham (who worked with Benioff and Weiss as Ser Davos Seaworth on “Game of Thrones”) adds, “it’s just wonderful! They aim so high with difficult storytelling that most normal people wouldn’t attempt to go near.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

James Clavell‘s 1975 historical novel of the same name is the basis for Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks‘ “Shōgun,” and it makes for exquisite television. Set at the end of the 16th century in Japan, the FX limited series follows several factions in the five Regents all vying for control and power. Intricate world-building and political machinations combine to make “Shōgun” the next “Game of Thrones.” What the two shows also have in common is a collection of superb performances from their extensive casts. Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, and Cosmo Jarvis lead the way in the show’s leading performances but several supporting players could also be up for an Emmy nomination, including Takehiro Hira.
Hira plays Ishido Kazunari, a former peasant who has now become a powerful bushō (a warlord). Kazunari takes charge of one of the five Regents and is the main rival of Sanada’s Lord Yoshii Toranaga.

Joshua “Bam Bam” Brown is not as active on social media as his younger brother, Bear Brown, but he does answer questions. Recently, the Alaskan Bush People star confirmed where the Brown family lives in 2024. While some people like Bear and Raiven considered moving back to Alaska, that hasn’t happened yet. Read on to find out what Ami’s second oldest child revealed.

Matt Brown might not have been included in what the Discovery star revealed a few days ago. Unfortunately, it seems like there’s still a lot of bad blood between him and Bear. However, he currently lives in Washington where he works with some nice friends who support his sobriety journey. But, he’s not necessarily close to the family. Sometimes, he talks about getting out in the mountains. Meanwhile, Bam Bam and Allison Kagan disappeared from the Discovery show for a bit.

Most Alaskan Bush People fans know Ami Brown from her days on the show. She lived in the Alaskan wilderness with her husband Billy Brown and their six kids. Soon, they had to move to Washington because Ami contracted cancer. However, since Billy died, she has lived on the farm with her kids nearby and remains the character fans watched for many years now.
However, Ami didn’t always live in the Alaskan bush and remote areas of Washington and she just posted a rare throwback photo of her as a teen.
Ami Brown Posts Teenage Photo
Just last week, Bear Brown posted a loving photo of Billy and Ami Brown for his fans to see. It was like nothing fans had seen before. Replacing the couple’s more basic outdoor clothing was a photo of the two dressed up, Billy in a white suit and Ami in a white dress with a big hat.

“How do we keep secrets from an adversary who sees everything, who is watching us right now?” asks the Un Secretary General in the 3 Body Problem season 1 finale. She then answers her own question: “Humanity still has secrets. The sophons have vast power, but they are not all-powerful. They cannot read our minds. This is the basis of what we call the Wallfacer project.”
Not much is known about the San-Ti, but intelligence gained from Mike Evans’ interaction with the aliens suggests that their communication is mind-to-mind with no mechanism for deception. This gives humanity a strategic advantage despite Earth’s comparatively inferior technology and the fact that the sophons are watching their every move: any plan carried out in only one person’s mind cannot be revealed to the enemy.

Based on the sprawling 2006 sci-fi novel "The Three-Body Problem" by Liu Cixin, Netflix's new series "3 Body Problem" is an ambitious tale that takes place across multiple time frames, and boasts an interweaving narrative involving space aliens, an invasion from the planet Trisolaris, and a strange, climate-disaster-themed virtual reality video game. Cixin's novel was the first in a three-book series called "Remembrance of Earth's Past," a series with deeply involved mythology complex enough to rival "Dune." One might require a quick read-up on the Fermi Paradox, the Alcubierre Drive, and notions of quantum entanglement before cracking it.
All eight episodes of "3 Body Problem" will debut on the same day, and it looks to be as ambitious as the book. The series will star notable actors like Benedict Wong, Jovan Adepo, Eiza González, Rosalind Chao, and Jonathan Pryce. The showrunners, perhaps to save themselves massive headaches, have declared openly...

For most of 3 Body Problem’s first season, Saul is on the fringe as his friends go through some major stuff. Auggie mandolins a panamax (or nearly so) ship. Jin gets recruited as humanity’s last hope. Will tries to live as much as he can until cancer decides he won’t. Jack gets into, and then really out of, videogaming. And while Saul’s intelligence, as well as his loyalty to his pals, is never in question, he doesn’t… do a whole lot.

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for Netflix’s “3 Body Problem” and Cixin Liu’s “Three-Body Problem,” the book on which it is based.]
Netflix’s “3 Body Problem” is based on a wildly popular book series by Cixin Liu — but how close does it come to the source material? Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have experience adapting dense novels with “Game of Thrones” — but they’ve also been in the position of having to branch away from the original text and disappointing audiences as a result. “3 Body Problem,” which they co-created and executive produce with Alexander Woo, could face the same issues.
The sci-fi drama begins with a woman named Ye Wenjie, whose father is killed during the Chinese Cultural Revolution of the 1960s. Wenjie ends up working at a mysterious military base which she eventually learns is trying to make extraterrestrial contact, and her work there ripples into the present, when a...

Plot: A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.
Review: As soon as it was announced that Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff were developing 3 Body Problem alongside Alexander Woo, I grabbed the novel and read it. The dense first entry in Liu Cixin’s trilogy was a fascinating look at science fiction from a Chinese vantage point with heavy political implications from the nation’s storied history. In translating the book for the screen, 3 Body Problem incorporates many of the cultural elements from the novel into a global and diverse narrative that sets the table for an ongoing series about humanity fighting against an extraterrestrial foe.

The idea of making major changes to the source material isn't exactly a foreign concept to "3 Body Problem" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The pair famously became household names during their tenure on HBO's "Game of Thrones." While they remain infamous among mainstream audiences for the very public criticisms leveled against the final season of the hit fantasy series, the more invested fans have followed their every move from the beginning. Changes both minor and major inspired breathless internet hot takes but, for the most part, the two proved adept at taking occasionally impenetrable concepts from the books and translating them into live action.

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "3 Body Problem."
"You are bugs," declare the San-Ti, extraterrestrial beings from the Alpha Centauri system who are on their way to invade Earth within four light years. This is an audacious declaration of war, a reminder of an imminent invasion, plastered on every communication device on our planet, from public billboards to any device that supports a screen. This grim development occurs halfway through Netflix's "3 Body Problem," where the San-Ti create an illusion to reflect the Earth's surface on the sky, adorned by an all-seeing eye where clouds should be. The message is clear: They're watching our every move. And no matter what we might do to thwart this invasion, they're coming.
Created by David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, Netflix's "3 Body Problem" is based on Liu Cixin's mind-boggling, brilliant "Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy, with season...
