Green Man is ideal for music fans daunted by the sheer scale of Glastonbury. Combining nourishing family fun with a dynamic nightlife, it remains one of the most inclusive festivals around. There’s no hierarchy between artist and audience, so bands inevitably end up in the crowds themselves, cheering on their own favourite acts. After 20 years, organisers also know how to make use of the compact location, at the Glanusk Estate nestled among the Black Mountains in south Wales. Strong offerings of music, comedy and arts across at least eight different stages can be found within minutes of each other. Conveniently close camping sites also allow festivalgoers to dart back to their tents between sets, meaning the mood-swinging Welsh weather is no bother.

What an installment!
It was on and cracking on Animal Kingdom Season 6 Episode 7 with feuding Cody bros, Deran and Craig, teaming up to take down and take out the Nazi drug dealing scumbag who took precious baby Nick.
Craig and Deran handled that shit, and it was the most thrilling aspect of the hour. It was Ben Robson's hour to shine, and he did. He absolutely Slayed with his performance on this one.
Does this mean that Craig and Renn are back together again, and Renn can stop being a dick to Craig about their child?
We've known for a bit that Renn's drug dealing would affect her family somehow, but she was getting too big for her britches and didn't seem to think that Craig's concerns were valid.
It was remarkable how she'd have her primos supervising every time Craig came around to see his child, but they...

Television producers have long used their medium as a tool to push progressive thinking on such nuanced topics as interracial dating, queer acceptance and abortion into everyday American households. But what about storytelling that makes these creators and their supporters point the finger inward at their own shortcomings and failures to act?
This year, as a result of increased publicity for Black Lives Matter and other similar movements, several Emmy contenders have had honest conversations about race in their writers’ rooms and on screen. These depictions include the obvious outward kind, as well as the internal biases that live within us all.
Christina M. Kim, co-showrunner for the CW’s martial-arts drama “Kung Fu,” says her program had an added layer of need to cover the matter because “our show, is about a Chinese American family and a lot of it takes place within the Chinese-American community.”

Music supervisor Jen Ross has worked on a number of music-themed series in her career, including “Smash,” “Empire” and “Soundtrack,” but few compare to the amount of work necessary for “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.” The show is driven by Zoey’s ability to hear people’s “heart songs,” of which we hear at least four and as many as nine in a given episode. Ross is tasked with securing music rights to all of them under a tight network TV schedule, and it’s far from easy. “‘Zoey’s’ is a very specific beast unto itself,” says Ross in an exclusive new interview for Gold Derby. “It’s really a constant interesting game of how do you get everything done in the time and not compromise any of the creative storyline and any of the narrative.” Watch the full webchat above.

Much like other major award shows, nominees for the Grammys often go on big media tours in order to promote themselves and their nominated work in hopes of boosting their chances of a possible win. While Grammy campaigning is definitely not as in-your-face as Oscar campaigning, it can still help keep artists in the public eye and potentially sway votes their way. After winners last year like Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Lil Nas X did their campaigning due, let’s see who did theirs for this year’s ceremony.
One of this year’s biggest campaigners has been Dua Lipa, nominated for six awards including Album, Record, and Song of the Year. Lipa got a coveted spot on the “SNL” Christmas episode hosted by series alum Kristen Wiig, where she performed her three-time nominated song “Don’t Start Now.” Lipa also stopped at other spots, including Netflix’s “SongExploder,” where...

If you’ve been missing the claustrophobic, smoky vibe of DIY shows, Fontaines D.C.’s performance on The Tonight Show Thursday was tailormade for you.
Singer Grian Chatten wanders through a maze-like set reminiscent of a smoky club as the rest of the band appears in nooks and hallways, grinding out “A Hero’s Death” from their 2020 album by the same name. The glimpses of shadowy figures moshing will give any frequent showgoer — stuck home due to Covid-19 — a pang.

The rock band The Strokes have been around for almost two decades now, breaking through in 2001 with their debut studio album “Is This It.” Now the band is up for Best Rock Album for “The New Abnormal” … but would you believe it’s the first time they’ve ever been nominated? Perhaps they’ll finally take home a gramophone as a way for voters to make up for lost time.

“Is This It” was a platinum-selling hit, but its acclaim was far greater. Rolling Stone placed it on their list of the best albums of all time. Other publications like Spin, The Observer, Mojo and Entertainment Weekly listed it among the best, most influential albums of the generation. Each year, artists and labels do their best to improve their Grammy Awards chances, typically through performances as well as FYC events and packages. With Covid making some typical campaigning resources difficult this year, artists had fewer promotional opportunities. However, a lot still worked, so let’s see what has succeeded and hasn’t in the past few years.
1. Increase TV performances
TV performances were more important than ever due to this season’s otherwise limited resources for getting your name and your music out there. Nominees like Doja Cat, BTS, Dua Lipa, and Phoebe Bridgers appeared in a variety of TV shows and specials, which could’ve helped tremendously. Shows like Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show”, Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show”, and “Saturday Night Live” may have been key to getting those artists on voters’ radar.

Singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka has released a new video for “Interlude (Loving the People),” off his most recent album, Kiwanuka.
The clip was directed by Phillip Youmans, who crafts a lush, sun-soaked portrait of youthful reverie — complete with body paint, skateboarding, and surfing — that pairs perfectly with the atmospheric, psych-tinged “Interlude.” (The track gets its parenthetical title, “Loving the People,” from a snippet of a John Lewis speech sampled at the beginning of the song.)
“Listening to ‘Interlude (Loving the People)’ feels like sunshine on my skin,” Youmans said in a statement.

For once, the country music patriarchy is riding shotgun.
Country may be renowned as a genre where the women do not always get a fair shake, but you would not guess that from how the nominations for the 2021 Grammys shook out. Female solo artists or bands with women as primary lead singers accounted for all five of the nominations in the best country album category. Moreover, female-fronted material was awarded four out of five slots in two other categories, best country song and best country solo performance. That 80-to-100% imbalance is, of course, pretty much the exact inverse of what a fan of the music will hear on the airwaves.
If the Grammys were making a statement, the Recording Academy wasn’t just making it in country. There was a similar readjusting of the scales happening in some of the rock categories. For best rock performance, all six nominees are...

Starting in March, when the Covid-19 crisis flattened the livelihoods of many in the music business, Bandcamp has held a monthly holiday in which it waives its full revenue share on all sales. The idea was an immediate hit. Bandcamp Friday, which falls on June 5th this month, has successfully directed millions of fans’ dollars to the artists who rely on income from merch and music to pay their bills at a time of acute economic distress.

Happiness eluded most by the end of A Million Little Things Season 2 Episode 19, and it makes you wonder if this family can ever catch a single break.
And now we'll spend the hiatus hoping for a series renewal and also wondering if Eddie Saville has survived being run down by a drunk driver.
What do you think the odds are here? Can the group afford to lose another close member of their family?
Eddie had one of the better arcs during A Million Little Things Season 2, growing and maturing and getting his life together, so when Lindsay came back into his life with that secret from the past, there was no doubt it would derail things.

The 40th Brit Awards took place at London's O2 Arena on Feb. 18, with world-class artists coming together to celebrate the best British talent in the music industry. The lineup was incredible, with a powerful performance by Dave, plus international acts Lizzo and Billie Eilish taking to the stage along with some of the UK's best exports: Harry Styles, Stormzy, and more. But, of course, the entire reason for the concert is the actual award ceremony. Leading the charge with four nominations each were Dave and Lewis Capaldi, followed closely by Mabel and Stormzy, but ultimately, it was Dave who took out the award for album of the year.

Despite becoming a genre-busting mainstay over the past seven years in his native U.K., psychedelic-soul singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka has heretofore remained a relatively anonymous television soundtrack staple in the States, with nary an indie hit to his name. Most fans here know him, if they know him at all, as the singer of Big Little Lies’ theme song “Cold Little Heart.”
That should change with Kiwanuka. His third offering is his most fully-formed work, a meditative, expansive collection of synth-psych, blues-rock, stately folk that amounts to an early-career opus for the 32 year-old singer-songwriter.

Long before the “Skip Intro” era, people have lamented the demise of the theme song. There certainly are times when the days of the wistful broadcast sitcom opening number (or even the days of theme songs that parodied them) seem firmly in the rearview mirror.
But with “Succession” Season 2 coming to a close on Sunday, the rapid rise of Nicholas Britell’s opening 90-second orchestral drum loop earworm spectacular is cause for rethinking that assumption. Maybe it’s just the law of large numbers, but even with the glut of shows that now reduce their openings to a simple title card and a “created by” credit, there are plenty of TV themes besides Britell’s worth celebrating.
Some of these fall closer to the more traditional instrumental expectations. Patrick and Ralph Carney’s opening for “BoJack Horseman” may not have any words, but it doesn’t make that heavy sax...

A new Leon Bridges song will premiere in the final episode of Season 2 of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” and be featured on the second soundtrack for the series.
“He had great timing,” says music supervisor Simon Astall. “We got this demo for a song that’s going to be on his next album and it worked in episode seven.”
Titled “That Was Yesterday,” its placement is part of the producers’ use of songs and specific artists as a connective tissue from season to season and even episode to episode. It’s the music of Charles Bradley and Ann Pebbles, the sound of Janis Joplin, and songs such as Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” that work their way into multiple episodes. As with the first season of the show, this new round of episodes will all be directed by the same person, with “Fish Tank” and “American Honey” filmmaker Andrea Arnold at the helm for every Season 2 installment. Karen O has shared a tender new song titled “Anti-Lullaby,” which doubles as the theme for the new Amazon series Hanna.
Despite its title, “Anti-Lullaby” is a lullaby of sorts, with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer cooing alongside a gently plucked acoustic guitar.
“Do not sleep, my starling / Sleep, my doe / She is wrapped in curtains laid in snow / She will bury you inside her fur,” Karen O sings on the 80-second track. “Do not sleep / She waits for you to sleep / My breath you breathe / It will carry you.
