Sufjan Stevens, the hipster’s holiday caroler, has shared the Official 2023 Sufjan Yule Log.
You know those “ambiance” YouTube videos that are just hours-long interrupted footage of a fireplace? The Sufjan Yule Log is essentially that, but it’s backed by all the Christmas music Stevens has ever released. As Brooklyn Vegan points out, that’s over 100 songs, originally released across 2006’s Songs for Christmas and 2012’s Silver & Gold, and clocks in at over five hours long.
“This video is ideal for your favorite holiday activities: decorating the tree, baking, making calls to loved ones, or enjoying hot cocoa,” Stevens’ label Asthmatic Kitty said a statement. Considering the majority of Stevens’ fanbase comprises millennials who will never be able to purchase a house — much less one with a fireplace — this is also brilliant marketing on his team’s part.

In news we did not expect to announce anytime soon, Hot Hot Heat are…back? The once bygone post-punk band have shared the single “Shock Me,” their first new music in seven years.
“Shock Me” begins with a roaring, beefy synth riff that in itself seems to act like a triumphant bugle call for all former American Apparel customers. Before long, it begins to fold in the familiar dance-punk drums and jagged guitars, building up some suspense before frontman Steve Bays comes in to shout the song’s title on the chorus.
It’s very nostalgic, and from the looks of it, there’s gonna be more Hot Hot Heat soon on the horizon. Consider us shocked. Stream “Shock Me” below.
Hot Hot Heat’s last studio album was their 2016 self-titled LP.

The Weeknd has donated $2.5 million towards providing four million emergency meals to Palestinians in Gaza.
The singer, born Abel Tesfaye, is directing money from his Xo Humanitarian Fund to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme. The Wfp — of which Tesfaye is also a Goodwill Ambassador — is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, and has been helping hundreds of thousands of Gazans in crisis and on the brink of starvation amid their siege under Israel.
“This conflict has unleashed a humanitarian catastrophe beyond reckoning,” reads a statement from Corinne Fleischer, Wfp’s Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe Region. “Wfp is working round the clock to provide aid in Gaza but a major scale up is needed to address the desperate level of hunger we are seeing. Our teams need safe and sustained humanitarian access, and continued support from donors to reach as many people as we can.

We don’t always cover celebrities’ love lives, but when we do, it often comes from a place of bewilderment: Rosalía is definitely dating Jeremy Allen White, US Weekly reports.
“They started out as just friends, but things have turned romantic recently,” a source told the publication, confirming rumors that the Bear actor and the singer had started up a fling together. While it looks like the two have yet to be spotted kissing out in public, they have definitely been hanging out, apparently taking trips to the farmer’s market and doing other things that rich hot people do in Los Angeles.
And at the risk of further pushing the celebrity gossip agenda, it is worth noting that both White and Rosalía have both recently endured what we can only assume have been gnarly breakups; White’s wife of three years filed for divorce in May, and just a couple of months later,...

Yard Act have shared “Petroleum,” the latest single from their upcoming album Where’s My Utopia?.
“Petroleum” is a dose of funk-inspired post-punk that gradually builds into a shimmering breakdown, as vocalist James Smith pores over the pros and cons of following your dreams: “My bones burn/ And the brain that’s controlling them/ Knows that the soul needs petroleum/ That’s how it goes.
“I lost it with the crowd in Bognor Regis and told them I was bored and I didn’t want to be there,” Smith says of the backstory to the track. “Me and Ryan [Needham] had a row after, and Ryan rightly dressed me down for the way I acted. It got me pondering the idea that, now this is a job, what are the requirements of it? People think they want honesty but they don’t, they want me to portray the version of honesty...

Believe it or not, Miley Cyrus had never performed her smash hit “Flowers” publicly until last week, when she sang the tune during a pre-Thanksgiving party at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont.
Although, naturally, eyewitnesses were quick to share clips of the gig to social media, Cyrus shared a full video of her “Flowers” debut on Instagram Wednesday night (November 29th). She took full advantage of the noir atmosphere with a stripped-down, jazz-ified version of the song, singing solo with only a piano to back her up.
But just because Cyrus brought out the glitz and glamour doesn’t mean the performance felt uptight. She threw in plenty of ad-lib — like a celebratory “I’m in Dolce!” — an encouraged audience participation. It sounds great, and more importantly, it looked like she had a lot of fun.
“My birthday gift to Myself this year was Very on brand,” Cyrus, who celebrated her 31st birthday on November 23rd,...

The 2023 Spotify Wrapped officially dropped on Wednesday, November 29th. Even if you haven’t had a chance to parse through your friends’ Instagram stories yet, you already know the deal: Folks whining that their carefully-curated “eclectic” tastes aren’t accurately represented, Swifties bowing to the feigned exclusivity of being in Taylor’s top 0.01% of fans, and — wait, why the hell is everybody talking about Burlington, Vermont?
In rolling out its eighth annual iteration, Spotify Wrapped introduced something new: Your “Sound Town,” or, the city Spotify’s artificial intelligence assigns you based on your listening habits and which demographic would hypothetically align with them. You thought you were primed for Brooklyn just because you enjoy bands signed to Saddle Creek? Nope — on Spotify’s terms, you and your canvas tote bags should pack up and head for Vermont’s most populous city. (Consider this writer humbled.)

You can thank Gym Class Heroes for the 2023 Rockefeller tree. This year’s 80-foot Norway spruce was delivered to Manhattan this week straight from an upstate New York property belonging to Matt McGinley, drummer for the recently-reunited rap rock band.
Finger Lakes Times reports that Erik Pauze, Rockefeller Center’s head gardener (what a job title!), is “always scouting” for the next tree to go up at 30 Rock and officially usher in the Christmas season. McGinley and his wife Jackie took pride in their arborie, but they didn’t realize its full potential until Pauze — who’d “had his eyes on the tree for more than a year” — knocked on their door.
But even then, Pauze couldn’t yet confirm nor deny that the McGinleys tree would be going to the Big Apple: “The whole process (of selection) is incredibly secretive,” Jackie said. “Because of that, we didn’t know our tree was selected.

The murder of John Lennon might be the most publicized homicide in history to have never gone to court. Those who were present that fateful day in 1980 will give their de facto testimonies in the upcoming Apple TV+ docuseries John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial, which has debuted its official trailer.
Directed by Nick Holt and Rob Coldstream, Murder Without a Trial culls from material granted by NYPD via numerous Freedom of Information Act requests. The result is a “deeply researched examination” of the former Beatle‘s assassination outside his Manhattan home, from killer Mark David Chapman’s months of planning to the devastating aftermath.
Along with previously unseen crime scene photos, the three-part series will compile new interviews with first-hand accounts. Those featured include Richard Peterson, a taxi driver who witnessed the shooting; Jay Hastings, a doorman at Lennon’s apartment building who heard his last words; David Suggs,...

André 3000 has made Billboard chart history as the artist with the longest-ever song to crack the Hot 100.
The song in question is “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time,” the opening track off the OutKast rapper’s debut solo album New Blue Sun. Landing at the No. 90 spot on Billboard‘s latest chart, the instrumental song clocks in at a whopping 12 minutes and 20 seconds, compared to the average three minute, 15 second runtime of 2023’s Top 10 hits so far.
André claims the title from Tool, whose 10 minute and 21 second “Fear Inoculum” peaked at No. 93 back in August 2019. Before that, David Bowie’s “Blackstar” earned that record in 2016, peaking at No. 78 with a nine minute and 57 second runtime. If by some magical twist of fate, the winds blow “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album…...

A Catholic priest was punished and removed from his post allowing Sabrina Carpenter to film a music video for her song “Feather” at a Brooklyn church, the New York Times reports.
The “Feather” video, shared to YouTube on Halloween, shows Carpenter at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Williamsburg, dancing on the altar after celebrating the murders of a few sleazy men. On November 2nd, the Catholic News Agency reported that the church’s bishop Robert Brennan was “appalled at what was filmed,” adding that its pastor, Msgr. Jamie J. Gigantiello, had allegedly infringed on diocesan policy by allowing the video shoot to proceed without a review of its scenes and script.
Bishop Brennan then reportedly celebrated a Mass of Reparation to “restore the sanctity of this church and repair the harm” caused by the “Feather” video, before he relieved Monsignor Gigantiello of his administrative duties not long after.

Sam Elliott and Howard Stern might have more in common than you think: They’re both very tall, they’re both known for their distinct voices, and they were considered for the same role in Bradley Cooper‘s A Star Is Born. Cooper was a guest on Monday’s (November 27th) episode of The Howard Stern Show, and the radio host revealed that he declined playing Jackson’s older brother Bobby in the 2018 film before the part went to Elliott.

Stern began praising Cooper’s musical capabilities, after which the radio personality said he still gets some flack for turning down a role Cooper had offered him in A Star Is Born.

Tomorrow X Together recently performed a Tiny Desk Concert as part of NPR and LG U+’s ongoing Tiny Desk Korea series.
Our May cover stars, Txt — Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai — took over Tiny Desk Korea’s filming location, which looks a bit more like a library than Bob Boilen’s work station. But the wall of bibliophile-friendly bookcases acts as a fitting backdrop for Txt, who performed three tracks from their recent album The Name Chapter: Freefall.
Though Txt are more known for their larger-than-life performances like many of their K-pop contemporaries, their Tiny Desk gig saw “Skipping Stones,” “Happily Ever After,” and “Chasing That Feeling” transformed from arena-sized bangers into moody and even jazzy numbers. Opting to sit instead of busting out their choreography, Txt proved that K-pop doesn’t always have to be a full-blown spectacle — it can simply exist as just damn good pop music.

Some folks weren’t as thankful as they should’ve been for Dolly Parton’s halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game last week. But her younger sister Stella Parton came to her defense in a scathing tweet Sunday (November 26th), calling out those who weren’t pleased with our recent cover star rocking a cheerleader costume.
“I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving,” Stella wrote. “To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say fuck yourself. Shame on you not her.”
In the middle of the Cowboys’ turkey game showdown against the Washington Commanders, Dolly sang classics like “Jolene” and “9 to 5” as well as covers of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” in support of her new album Rockstar.

Dolly Parton might not be from Texas, but she does know a thing or two about cowboys. The country legend will give us something to be thankful for as the halftime show performer during the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game next month.
The Cowboys will face off against the Washington Commanders on Thursday, November 23rd game at their home AT&T Stadium, with Parton headlining the musical event. The singer announced the news in a reel shared to Instagram, in which she and a pair of Cowboys cheerleaders grab their glue guns to bezaddle a performance playbook, a football, and a custom jersey. “I’ll see y’all this Thanksgiving!” she says giddily, in her Lone Star-spangled getup.
Ever the philanthropist, Parton’s show will also serve as the opening act for The Salvation Army and its annual Red Kettle Kickoff fundraising campaign. See the Instagram reel revealing the announcement below.

M83 has officially dropped a fan-favorite track from the Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming era called “Mirror.”
Upon the original release of Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming in 2011, “Mirror” was a hidden track found only as a secret download in the packaging of the CD, and it was later released as a 7-inch Record Store Day exclusive. This marks the first time the track has received a proper digital release, although dedicated M83 fans have come to love it as a frequent closer to Anthony Gonzalez’s live sets.
“It’s a track that never came out digitally and we close our shows with that song,” Gonzalez told Billboard recently of “Mirror.” “The response of the audience has been great so far, and it’s an unknown song that deserves to be properly released in my opinion.”
“Mirror” calls to mind other Hurry Up highlights with its unfettered joyful energy.

The National stopped by BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland recently to perform “Space Invader” and “Deep End (Paul’s in Pieces),” two highlights from their latest album Laugh Track.
The recently-renovated Alexandra Palace Theatre made a pretty good backdrop for The National, who are just a few weeks out from their surprise-released LP. “Space Invader” — which The National released back in August — filled up the auditorium with Matt Berninger’s booming vocals and the Dessner brothers’ sweeping shredding; meanwhile, “Deep End” offered a contrasting blast of high-energy. Both sound wonderful!

Portugal. The Man have recruited an unlikely guest, the metal wiz Mizmor, to do a reworking of their song “Doubt,” which originally appeared on their June 2023 album Chris Black Changed My Life.
While Mizmor’s black metal definitely seems like a far cry from Portugal. The Man’s retro-inspired pop-rock, the two acts actually do have a personal connection: “My brother, Ryan, used to play in Portugal. The Man, and I was the kid brother who played heavy music,” Mizmor says in a press release. “Instead of stripping everything away and rebuilding from the ground up, like many remixes do, I was able to almost directly adapt the chords into my style.”
Complete with an extra doom-y outro that cleverly weaves in vocals from Ptm’s own Zoe Manville, Mizmor’s version of “Doubt” isn’t just a remix — it’s a whole new beast. Watch the equally-harrowing music video below.

Pink Floyd have released a remaster of their magnum opus The Dark Side of the Moon, out now via Pink Floyd/Warner Music.
The polished-up edition of the album was originally released back in March with The Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary Box Set, but this is the first time that the standalone Dark Side remaster is available on its own. Pressed on vinyl, CD, and Blu-ray formats, the physical package comes equipped with postcards, stickers, and a 24-page booklet commemorating the record, which Consequence recently crowned one of the greatest albums of all time.
Notably, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side remaster arrives just a week after embattled ex-member Roger Waters shared The Dark Side of the Moon Redux, a track-by-track re-recording of the album on his own terms. He teased it with some — ahem — interesting versions of “Time” and “Money.”
Stream The Dark Side of the Moon (50th Anniversary Remaster) below.

PinkPantheress has, at last, announced her debut album Heaven Knows. It arrives November 10th, and along with the lead single “Capable of Love,” the English artist has unveiled a run of 2024 headlining tour dates.
While PinkPantheress hasn’t revealed the album’s full tracklist yet, we do know it’ll be 13 tracks with contributions from heavyweights like Greg Kurstin, Mura Masa, Danny L Harle, Count Baldor, Phil, and Cash Cobain. “The record is about grief for a loss but being at peace with yourself in your aloneness,” she said in a press release. “Journeying from hell into purgatory, but I’m Ok with being there.” Pre-orders are ongoing.

Rod Stewart said he has declined an opportunity to perform in Saudi Arabia in protest of the country’s laws regarding women, LGBTQ+ issues, and press.
Sir Stewart shared the news in an Instagram post Thursday (October 12th), writing: “I’m grateful that I have a choice whether or not to perform in Saudi Arabia. So many citizens there have extremely limited choices… women, the LGBTQ community, the press. I’d like my choice not to go… to shine a light on the injustices there and ignite positive change.” As Billboard points out, the Saudi Arabia show could have been one of the highest-paying gigs in Stewart’s career.
According to Human Rights Watch, the kingdom’s lawmakers “continue to implement a male guardianship system requiring women to obtain male guardian permission to get married, leave prison, or obtain some forms of sexual and reproductive healthcare.” The Saudi government has...

Stewart Copeland, founding drummer of The Police, will document his band’s humble beginnings in his upcoming book Police Diaries.
Out October 26th, Police Diaries is billed as “the band’s truest account of their early days.” It compiles scans of original diary entries written during The Police’s “starving years” between 1976 and 1979, supplemented with new commentary to give those candid accounts some context. It’s all fleshed out with a series of photos, including some never-before-published.
Police Diaries is available to pre-order now in three different editions: Standard, which includes just the book; Signature, which includes a signed copy and a bonus demo CD; and Ultimate, which features a vintage-bound hardback, a Giclée print, and more. In Stewart’s own words: “It’s a big, noisy book about one heckuva ride.”
Copeland also recently hopped on Consequence’s The Story Behind the Song podcast to discuss The Police’s hit “Roxanne.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Car Seat Headrest, but the indie rock project of Will Toledo is back with a cover of Death Cab for Cutie’s “We Looked Like Giants.”
“We Looked Like Giants” originally appeared on Death Cab’s 2003 album Transatlanticism, and the cover arrives in celebration of that record’s 20th anniversary. The split single also contains a cover of The Beths and Pickle Darling teaming up to tribute another 20th anniversary of a Ben Gibbard classic: “Brand New Colony,” from The Postal Service’s sole studio album Give Up.
Toledo’s rendition of “We Looked Like Giants” stays pretty faithful to its original, albeit with a more post-punk inspired slant. Meanwhile, The Beths and Pickle Darling give “Brand New Colony” a rootsy twang with a healthy dose of banjo plucking. Pre-orders are ongoing for the 7″ vinyl, and you can stream both covers below.

Kali Uchis has announced her new album Orquídeas, out January 12th, 2024. It’ll mark her fourth studio album overall and her second sung entirely in Spanish.
While Uchis hasn’t offered many more details about the record, she did explain the significance of its botanical title: “The orchid is the national flower of Colombia, and we have more species of orchid than anywhere on earth,” she explains in a press release. “I always felt distinctly intrigued and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, striking, graceful and sensual allure of the orchid. With this vast scope of fresh energy, I wish to re-define the way we look at Latinas in music.”
Pre-orders are ongoing. See the artwork for Orquídeas below.
Orquídeas will arrive less than a year after her last LP, Red Moon in Venus. In August, she shared the single “Muñekita” featuring El Alfa and City Girls’ Jt.

Attendees at Ann Wilson’s show in Santa Rosa, California Tuesday night (October 10th) got a special surprise when she brought out her sister and Heart bandmate Nancy Wilson onstage, marking the first time the two have performed together since 2019.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have the answer to a question with us tonight,” Ann said from the stage. “A very, very good friend — more than a friend…let’s bring her out. Come on.”
Naturally, the two then performed Heart’s 1977 classic “Barracuda.” Per Setlist.fm, it was the closing number for the evening, during which Ann also played handful of other Heart songs along with covers of John Lennon, The Who, Queen, and Led Zeppelin. See a clip of the Wilsons doing “Barracuda” together below.

Machine Gun Kelly’s town hall during the Forbes Under 30 Summit on Tuesday was briefly derailed when an audience member evidently approached him after storming the stage.
Forbes editor Kristin Stoller was interviewing the pop-punk artist in a packed auditorium when somebody entered the stage from the side. Mid-sentence, Mgk stood up with his hands balled up in fists, saying: “My man, get the fuck away from me. Yo, what are you doing? What are you doing? This is a bad look. Don’t make me do this.”
While it’s unclear what the persona non grata’s motivation was, he can be heard faintly saying: “I got you, man. I want to help you out here.” He didn’t make any physical contact with Mgk, but the two were just a few feet away by the time security guards dashed over to carry him off stage.

Thurston Moore has canceled the book tour he’d planned in support of his upcoming memoir Sonic Life, citing a “debilitating” health condition.
“It utterly bereaves me to pass on the news that I have been advised by my medical team here in the UK to cancel my upcoming USA book tour,” the former Sonic Youth member wrote on Instagram Tuesday (October 10th). “For years I have been dealing with a longstanding health condition, though it has never seriously stopped me from touring and recording. Regardless it’s always been an underlying issue and as I reach my mid-60s this year it has become rather, and consistently, debilitating. After a recent consultation, my doctors have strongly advised against me flying anywhere under any circumstance until they get it all sorted out.”

Magnolia Pictures has shared the official trailer for The Stones and Brian Jones. The upcoming documentary, directed by Nick Broomfield, will screen in theaters one night only on November 7th before it comes to digital November 17th.
With interviews and newly-unearthed archival footage, The Stones and Brian Jones documents how a 19-year-old Brian Jones formed The Rolling Stones and subsequently changed the course of rock history. And even just from the few scenes in the trailer, it’s clear how Jones was motivated by his own love of the art: “What were you doing before you joined?” an interviewer asks him about the band, to which he politely responds: “Well, just sort of bummin’ around waiting for something to happen, really.”
According to the film’s official logline: “The Stones and Brian Jones explores the creative musical genius of Jones, key to the success of the band, and uncovers how...

Caroline Polachek recently stopped by the NPR office for a Tiny Desk Concert, performing tracks from her fantastic February 2023 album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You.
With a tuning fork in hand, Polachek kicked off the four-song setlist with “Pretty In Possible.” While the Tiny Desk setting doesn’t quite match her usual dark, medieval-chic aesthetic, she still managed to bring her enchanting sense of whimsy, seemingly getting lost in her own music — that is, until she needed a swig of water, which she took from an antique-looking goblet.
Tiny Desk Concerts also aren’t usually the type of venue where artists encourage audience participation, but leave it to Polachek to get the whole room involved during “Sunset,” leading everyone behind the camera in a unison hand-clapped beat. And by the time she closed out the performance with “I Believe,” she’d once again prompted a question we’ve...

The prolific solo career of Les Claypool is being condensed into a new box set called Adverse Yaw: The Prawn Song, out February 9th.
Adverse Yaw will compile highlights of Claypool’s discography, outside the work he’s most widely known for in Primus. This includes his various other projects like Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains, and The Fancy Band. The set will feature five albums total: Live Frogs Sets 1 & 2, Purple Onion, Of Whales & Woe, and Of Fungi & Foe LPs, plus The Big Eyeball In the Sky, which is being pressed to vinyl for the very first time.
“Let’s put it this way … I think, with Primus and without, I’ve played every music festival in the last ten years, except Lilith Fair,” Claypool recalls. “You could say I’m the guy who doesn’t fit in anywhere, but a little bit everywhere.

Ridley Scott is sitting on a whopping four-hour-long director’s cut of his new historical drama Napoleon that will receive a release through Apple TV+.
“I’m working on it,” Scott said of the edit in a new interview with Total Film (via IndieWire). “It was four [hours] 10 [minutes] this morning. And so what will happen is, we’ll screen [the theatrical cut] first with Sony, and then it has its run, and then the perfect thing is that [the director’s cut] goes to streaming, and we have four hours 10 minutes.”
The theatrical cut of Napoleon already takes over two and a half hours to summarize the life of its titular French leader, played by Joaquin Phoenix. But a lengthy film doesn’t necessarily constitute an extended schedule for its actors, at least if Scott has any say in it; he added that he was able to shoot all of Napoleon in just two months, an especially speedy turnaround for such an elaborate,...

Before Daniel Johnston tragically died in 2019, he got to see one of his dreams come true: Playing the Big Apple. His estate has partnered with the label Shimmy-Disc to release Daniel Johnston Alive in New York City, a circa-2000 live album that marks the first official vinyl release of the iconic singer-songwriter performing in the US. It’ll be released in full on January 14th, 2024, while you can watch a clip of Johnston’s “Silly Love” performance below.
While the exact date is unknown, Shimmy-Disc founder Mark Kramer estimates the recordings were taken sometime in April 2000, after he dug them up 20 years later. Along with plenty of Johnston’s beloved originals — including two tracks that haven’t appeared on any of his other releases — he also pays homage to Paul McCartney with heartwarming covers of “Live and Let Die” and “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.” What’s more,...

Pet Shop Boys have accused Drake of interpolating their song “West End Girls” without credit or permission. The borrowed riff appears on “All the Parties,” a track on the rapper’s new album For All the Dogs.
“Surprising to hear Drake singing the chorus of ‘West End Girls’ in the track ‘All the Parties’ on his new album,” Pet Shop Boys wrote on their Instagram account Friday (October 6th). “No credit given or permission requested.”
Legalities aside, “All the Parties” is an obvious nod to the synth-pop duo’s 1984 hit, as Drizzy sings “East End boys and West End girls” in the same melody. Perhaps Drake thought he was in the clear by referring to Toronto instead of Pet Shop Boys’ London?
You can listen to both songs below; the interpolation in question begins around 1:00 in “West End Girls” and around 2:41 in “All the Parties.”

Mere hours after releasing his new album For All the Dogs, Drake announced a hiatus from music to attend to some tummy troubles. He broke the news on an episode of SiriusXM’s Table for One Friday morning, saying he’s “been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach.”
“I need to focus on my health, first and foremost,” Drake added (via TMZ). While he didn’t offer a specific timeframe, it looks like we’ll have to wait longer than usual until he gets to LP9: “I’ma lock the door on the studio for a little bit. Maybe a year or something…maybe a little longer.”
Of course, for many other artists, “a year or something” between releases feels like a mere blink. But keep in mind Drake has released eight solo studio albums in less than 14 years, and has released a whopping six projects since 2020 alone: That year,...

Who needs to believe in life after love when you can believe in the magic of Christmas? Cher is finally gifting us with a holiday album, and she’s previewing it with lead single “DJ Play a Christmas Song.” (Our condolences to the “no Christmas music before Halloween” camp.)

A remix of the track also made it onto their Coachella setlist, which has inspired the B-side to the new single: “You & Me (Coachella ver),” described by the press release as “a rap-enhanced redux” of the Coachella performance of the track.
“We hope the song becomes a special gift through which fans remember their memories from ‘Born Pink’ tour,'” Yg Entertainment wrote in a statement. Stream both versions of the song via Apple Music below.

Nigeria’s Tems has returned with the new single “Me & U,” her first new material in two years.
Tems started gaining more traction in the US in partial thanks to “Wait for U,” the 2022 single from Future that featured her along with Drake. But “Me & U” proves Tems can hold it down on her own, existing somewhere between a traditional pop ballad and a clubby Afrobeats banger.
On the surface, “Me & U” feels like a pretty clear-cut love song, as Tems sings of companionship and full surrender: “I don’t need nothing/ You are my everything,” she coos over a gently-strummed electric guitar. But it’s not exactly a love song in the traditional sense, instead focusing on the connection between the self and the divine.
“‘Me & U’ is about discovering the real me, building a genuine relationship with the Creator, and gaining a true perception of self,” Tems says in a press release.

Queen ruled Baltimore’s Cfg Bank Arena Wednesday night (October 4th) as they kicked off their North American “Rhapsody Tour.”
Original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor — plus vocalist Adam Lambert — spent two hours tearing through over two dozen Queen tunes, with a career-spanning setlist that featured both their biggest hits as well as fan-favorite deep cuts.
Notably, the band played “Is This the World We Created…?” live with Lambert for the first time, and dusted off “Stone Cold Crazy” after more than five years.
May, Taylor, and Lambert were backed by Queen’s longtime keyboard player Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough, and percussionist Tyler Warren, comprising an ensemble whose sound filled the entire arena. It was a night that served as a tribute to Freddie Mercury, keeping his songs and spirit alive without ever overshadowing his bright legacy.

Blink-182 have shared “Dance with Me,” the latest single from their upcoming album One More Time….
One More Time… is Blink’s first new album since the return of guitarist Tom DeLonge, so it’s not too surprising to see them lean into the nostalgia factor with “Dance with Me.” In its cheeky music video, the band seem to poke fun at not only themselves, but the punk purists who called them sellouts back in the day. The clip starts with a faux TV interview, in which the band all appear to be doing their best Joey Ramone cosplay: “What the hell is punk? And is it punk that I said ‘hell?'” a Barbara Walters-esque hosts asks.
“Dance with Me” isn’t the most punk tune around, but it has all the major tenets of a Blink-182 song: Breakneck drums, zippy guitar riffs, a chorus about “doin’ it all night long,...

For those of us who weren’t around to see Beetlejuice upon its 1988 premiere, Tim Burton’s classic dark comedy is coming back to theaters for its 35th anniversary. Dolby Cinemas will screen the film for one night only on Wednesday, October 18th.
While we’d argue that Beetlejuice is timeless, its re-release comes with some modern bells and whistles, including Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision visuals, so even mere mortals can accurately experience the afterlife. Screenings are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on October 18th, and pre-orders for tickets are ongoing.
The Beetlejuice re-release arrives ahead of its long-awaited sequel, which will welcome back original cast members Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara, along with newcomer Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci. That movie’s release date was pushed back indefinitely due to the WGA strike, but now that that’s over,...

Spooky season now extends through the fourth Thursday in November with Thanksgiving, the upcoming slasher from Eli Roth. Sony Pictures has shared its official trailer before it comes to theaters November 17th.
Technically, this could be considered the second Thanksgiving trailer that’s seen the light of day: Back in 2007, Roth made a faux trailer to be presented in the middle of Grindhouse, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s double feature. Also titled Thanksgiving, that hypothetical movie took cues from holiday-themed horror classics like Halloween and My Bloody Valentine, with its killer dressed as a pilgrim.
The 2023 Thanksgiving isn’t quite as obviously indebted to ’70s exploitation flicks, but like its first iteration, it centers around a series of murders in Plymouth, Massachusetts. A year after a local Black Friday sale became a literal bloodbath, the entire town is on edge once again as they attempt to stop the pilgrim-clad killer,...

Sure, it’s not easy being a king, but have you tried being married to one? After teasing it earlier this year, A24 has shared the first full-length trailer for Priscilla, Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biopic based on Mrs. Presley’s 1985 memoir Elvis and Me.
American high schooler Priscilla Beaulieu (Cailee Spaeny) is still adjusting to her family’s relocation to Germany when — in a moment almost too good to be true — she meets one Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi) at a party. It doesn’t take much for the world’s hottest star to become smitten, much to the (understandable!) chagrin of Priscilla’s parents: “Just what is the intent here, Mr. Presley?” her father asks. “Why my daughter?”
Elvis justifies pursuing a girl ten years his junior because “she’s much more mature than her age,” a remark that usually doesn’t come from the most well-meaning men. But...

Ethan Hawke and Maya Hawke are just a couple of over 20 musicians who’ve contributed to Light in the Attic & Friends, a covers compilation that’ll be released for Record Store Day’s annual Black Friday event. As a preview, the father-daughter actor duo have shared their rendition of Willie Nelson’s “We Don’t Run,” featuring production from Christian Lee Hutson and mixing by Jay Som’s Melina Duterte.
Considering the delicate indie folk Maya releases on her own, it’s not too much of a surprise that Nelson’s classic outlaw country would be a staple of the Hawke household while she was growing up: “This song is off Willie’s brilliant album Spirit, which has been a mainstay in our home since it was released in 1996,” Ethan said in a statement. “Everybody needs a good anthem song. This is one of the best.”
