The country music industry swiftly withdrew its support for Morgan Wallen after video surfaced of the country star using a racial slur.
The video of Wallen is reportedly from late Sunday night in Nashville and captures the country music streaming star — whose Dangerous: The Double Album has topped Rolling Stone‘s 200 chart for the past three weeks — appearing to be inebriated and shouting expletives, including the “n-word,” to a group of friends. In response to the video, Wallen issued a statement on Tuesday night saying he was “embarrassed and sorry.

It’s Maren Morris’ year. The country music artist scored the most Cma Awards nominations of any act this year, with six nods. Brothers Osborne are two behind her with four, and a whole bevy of musicians — including Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Kacey Musgraves, to handpick just a few — earned three apiece.
Morris is a finalist in the following categories: Single of the Year (“Girl”), Album of the Year (“Girl”), Song of the Year (“Girl”), Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year (“All My Favorite People”), and Music Video of the Year (“Girl”).
The highly coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy will go home with either Stapleton, Underwood, Garth Brooks, Eric Church, or Keith Urban. See all the nominees below.

This year’s Cma Awards aims to do something that country radio doesn’t: give women in country music their moment in the spotlight. According to a release on Monday morning, the 53rd annual CMAs will be “celebrating legendary women in country music throughout the ceremony.” As a reflection of that mission statement, Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire will host the November 13th show.
This will mark Underwood’s 12th time hosting the Cma Awards, after co-hosting as a duo with Brad Paisley since 2008. Parton hosted the CMAs...

With more than a dozen Number One singles on the country charts, Carrie Underwood is not only one of the genre’s most successful and regularly played artists, but one of country radio’s most-played female acts in a genre that has increasingly come under fire for a lack of gender equality. In 2017, according to The Tennessean, just 10.4 percent of the songs that received country radio airplay (not including duets with men) were by female artists. That’s a drop of almost three percent from 2016’s 13 percent tally.
