"Hell of a way to fight a war..." Screen Media has revealed an official trailer for Come Out Fighting, a WWII action thriller from the filmmaker Steven Luke - he has been making tons of these junk World War II films recently, including Battle of the Bulge: Winter War, and Operation Seawolf before this. His latest war movie follows a small, specialized squad of U.S. Army African-American soldiers sent on an unofficial rescue mission behind enemy lines to locate their missing commanding officer. The action film stars Michael Jai White, Tyrese Gibson, Kellan Lutz, Hiram A. Murphy, and Dolph Lundgren. Come Out Fighting follows remarkable heroes making revolutionary strides during a grueling battle. Not much more than that, though... If you're not yet sold on all of that, then maybe this footage will help? Or maybe not... Take a look. // Continue Reading ›...

"The whole crew is on your side. Men like Kessler, their time has passed…" Shout Factory has revealed an official trailer for a WWII naval battle thriller titled Operation Seawolf, from filmmaker / actor Steven Luke who has been directing a few other low budget war movies before this one. In the last days of WWII, Nazi Germany, desperate for any last grasp to defeat the allied powers, formed together the German Navy and the last remaining U-Boats, for one final mission – to attack the United States Homeland. The term "Seewolf" comes from a Nazi formation, but this might also inspired by a real "Operation Sea Lion" which Hitler was considering at the end of war to invade the United Kingdom across the Channel. Starring Dolph Lundgren as Captain Hans Kessler, along with Frank Grillo, Hiram A. Murray, Cody Fleury, Luke Steinborn, and Andrew Stecker. This seems bad, really bad, like instant bargain bin junk.

Lush cinematography can’t save this dated second world war drama, let down by comic accents, cliched dialogue and confusing action
This stilted, herky-jerky tale of Yankee heroism – written and directed by, as well as starring, Steven Luke – seems to be a sequel to Luke’s earlier second world war saga, Wunderland, a work not well-reviewed nor widely seen. In this instalment, Luke’s wholesome, square-jawed protagonist Lt Cappa and his ethnically diverse yet strangely interchangeable-looking men are defending a field hospital just behind the frontline near Lanzerath, Belgium, as the titular Battle of the Bulge rages in December 1944. The larger goal for the allies, represented here mostly by Tom Berenger and Billy Zane talking in a tent as they play Maj McCulley and Gen Omar Bradley, is to take control of fuel supplies to the Germans who might be on the verge of winning the war. Plus, there’s...

Every year, movie-preview pieces herald the holidays’ arrival; in 2020, the headlines are a little different. As USA Today proclaimed, “10 Must-See Movies to Stream Over the Holiday Season.” They include “Soul,” “Mank,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Let Them All Talk,” and “Small Axe” — major awards contenders, many of which would have have been theatrical releases. However, they all belong to streamers, not VOD.
Meanwhile, on Friday Vertical Entertainment dropped an action film, “The Informer,” which stars Joel Kinnaman as an ex-con who returns to prison undercover to expose a Polish drug cartel. Shot in 2017 and released in most of the world in 2019, this title from the director of “Escobar: Paradise Lost” is unlikely to show up on anyone’s awards-season list. However, even at $19.99 to rent, it topped two major VOD charts this weekend.

Coming to theaters across the nation soon, there is a powerful World War I picture, shot with the respectable ambition of simulating a single unbroken take. The bad news is, Steven Luke’s cliché-ladling combat picture is not that refined movie (called “1917”). What we have instead is “The Great War,” a start-to-finish inept battleground film set in the waning days of WWI around the Armistice of Nov. 11, 1918, so clumsy in its handling of racism within the American Expeditionary Forces that it makes some of the racial mishaps of “Green Book” seem subtle in comparison.
With a bewildering “let’s set our differences aside and work together” attitude throughout, Luke injects the film with a generically sappy score whenever a racist white trooper realizes his bigotry and offers to share his water with a black comrade as a symbol of his newfound decency or a teary-eyed white lieutenant doles out a...

Coming soon to theaters, The Great War tells of the "Buffalo Soldiers," a regiment of African-American military troops, who faced a multitude of conflicts during the dying days of World War I after they were trapped behind enemy lines. Bates Wilder, Hiram Murray, Billy Zane and Ron Perlman lead the cast. Here's more from the official synopsis: "After one of these soldiers manages to escape, he's ordered to join a select team of white troops, led by a battle-scarred officer, to find and rescue the survivors. Casting aside their racial differences, the determined men join forces to find their lost comrades in this gripping, action-filled tale of bravery and unity." Directed and written by Steven Luke, The Great War will open in select U.S. theaters...

"My mom didn't want me dying in some white man's war." Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie action war film titled The Great War, the latest from producer / director Steven Luke (aka Luke Schuetzle) - who also made the WWII movie The Battle of the Bulge: Wunderland from last year. This next one from him is about a regiment of African-American "Buffalo Soldiers" deep behind enemy lines. During the last days of World War I, also known as "The Great War" at the time, a group of Us soldiers are sent on a dangerous mission to rescue a lost platoon stuck in enemy territory. The film stars Bates Wilder, Hiram Murray, Billy Zane, Rich Lowe, Bill Cooper, and Ron Perlman. It's clear that this Steven Luke guy knows how to put together a war flick, I just hope there's a worthwhile story to carry all this intense action.

We’ve got a trailer here for a new World War II film called The Battle of the Bulge: Wunderland and it’s based on true events set during Christmas in 1944. This actually looks decent for a low-budget independently produced film. It might be worth checking out.
Christmas 1944, The Germans make one final push against the attacking allied armies in the West. Lt. Robert Cappa and his platoon of 2nd Infantry Division soldiers have been ordered to hold a vital road junction against the German aggressors. Cappa and his men must find their faith and strength to stand against their enemy in the epic fight known as "The Battle of The Bulge" - the last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front.
