A “300” TV series adaptation is in early development at Warner Bros. Television, Variety has learned from sources.
Exact plot details are still being worked out, but sources say that the show would serve as a prequel to the 2006 film. No writer or platform is currently attached to the project.
Deals are still being negotiated, but Zack Snyder, who directed and co-wrote “300,” is in talks to direct and executive produce the series. Deborah Snyder, who executive produced “300,” would also return as an executive producer under her and Zack’s Stone Quarry production banner, with Stone Quarry’s Wesley Coller also on board. Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann — all of whom were producers on the film — are likewise in talks to return.
Reps for Wbtv declined to comment.

This week, two attorneys will stand and make their cases to the jury. Yes, that jury and that trial, which may put a former—and future?—president behind bars. This is when the pressure falls on the prosecution and defense to make their final claims of guilt or innocence.
“At this point, parties are free to use hypothetical analogies to make their points; to comment on the credibility of the witnesses, to discuss how they believe the various pieces of the puzzle fit into a compelling whole, and to advocate why jurors should decide the case in their favor,” explains the official site of the Federal Court System.
Or, we can just recall the most memorable, decisive arguments made on screen. Hey, we can handle the truth! Here is my list of 10 to remember.

There are many things that every person goes through in life, both pleasant and very unpleasant. One of the things you'd rather leave to the enemy is going through a painful breakup.
It may sound silly to some people, but it is one of the most devastating things that can happen to a person. Your whole life comes crashing down and you find yourself completely lost.
In moments like this, the only thing you can do is focus on yourself, but that's just too hard to do when you're freshly heartbroken. So maybe instead you should watch a bunch of movies to help you forget that your ex ever existed?
Here's a list of movies that solve the problem perfectly, despite being so different.
1. The Thing (1982)

Women constantly face the stigma of having their looks and personalities used to determine their capabilities. A girl’s life choices should be up to her, not the biases and demands of those around her. In a time where phrases like, “girl boss” and, “good for her” movies have become entwined in our cultural lexicon, ‘Legally Blonde’, a film released back in 2001, remains a beloved classic of female empowerment. ‘Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is surrounded by people who don’t take her at all seriously and instead perceive her as a beautiful, dumb, blonde. Conversely, Vivian Kensington (Selma Blair), Elle’s brunette and less blatantly feminine classmate is viewed as smart, respectable, and less attractive. Through these characters, the film emphasizes the absurdity of allowing a woman’s appearance to dictate our perception of her intelligence and value. Reese Witherspoon has bent and snapped her way into a full-fledged “Legally Blonde” empire.
After playing L.A. sorority girl turned Harvard Law School student — and arguably, feminist icon — Elle Woods in 2001, Witherspoon has led sequel “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde” and is slated to star in a third film written by Mindy Kaling and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” co-creator Dan Goor. Kaling previously teased that the third film will center on Elle Woods reevaluating both her career and her perspective on life at age 42, telling Time magazine that she would never want the character to “be canceled or become a Karen.”
While the status of that trilogy installment is still unknown, given that the feature was announced in 2022, Witherspoon has turned instead to building out the “Legally Blonde” brand through TV.
IndieWire can confirm that a “Legally Blonde” prequel series titled “Elle” is in the works at Prime Video, with Witherspoon producing.

At the Amazon upfront, Reese Witherspoon appearing in character as Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods wasn’t even the actress’ best effort of the morning. That came about 45 minutes before her presentation wrapper, when she scolded her You’re Cordially Invited co-star Will Ferrell for bragging about his romantic comedy prowess.
“I’m the fucking queen of looking cute while sleeping,” said Witherspoon, referring to that moment in every rom-com when one actor lovingly looks at the other while their eyes are closed. This delighted the crowd at the tech giant’s first-ever upfront presentation, as did much of star-packed show — once they got in, of course. Slow lines stretched down South Street, prompting a half-hour delay for the Pier 36 event.
“Thank you for whatever you went through to get in this room,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, when she finally took the stage. “I know it was a lot.

“Legally Blonde 3” has been in the works for several years with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor working on the script, but nothing has come of it until now.

Long before Greta Gerwig's pink pop cultural juggernaut Barbie came along, the fuchsia feminist revolution began with 2001's Legally Blonde. As blonde and brilliant SoCal socialite-turned-Harvard law student Elle Woods, Reese Witherspoon helped create a bona-fide cult classic and one of the 21st century's first great big screen heroines. Now, a couple of decades after 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Witherspoon is gearing up to return to Elle Woods' world with her Hello Sunshine production company for several new Amazon spin-off series.
As reported by Deadline, Witherspoon — whose first Hello Sunshine/Amazon collaboration, Daisy Jones & The Six, debuted on Prime Video last year — is set to team up with Gossip Girl developers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for the first project, which is furthest along in development. Schwartz and Savage are set to write the series, whose plot currently remains tightly under wraps, with Witherspoon taking on a producing role.

Dylan Mulvaney is dreaming big, and one of the characters she would like to play is Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
In a recent interview, the singer and actress said that her dream theater role was to play Glinda in Wicked, but her “dream dream” was to portray the Harvard Law School student that Reese Witherspoon famously played in the 2001 film.
“My dream though is to do a trans Legally Blonde,” Mulvaney said in an interview with IMDb during SXSW. “I wanna play Elle Woods and have maybe a trans Emmett and a trans Paulette. And I think what’s so cool about plugging trans people into existing stories is it inherently changes what the topic is, but in a way that you don’t actually have to do much to the script because it becomes something different — but actually, I think it makes it even more powerful.”

As Hollywood consistently churns out box office hits, it’s common for successful films to spawn franchises in pursuit of continued success through sequels, prequels, spin-offs, and many other ways. However, some of these sequels don’t always stay up to the mark. Following are several examples of movies where Hollywood’s pursuit of extending classic hits led to disappointing sequels.

Released in 1985, the original Back to The Future stood out as one of the defining blockbusters of the 1980s with its enduring legacy spanning nearly four decades as one of the most cherished and influential films of all time.

It’s hard to make your mark in an ever-evolving film industry. Hollywood has recently witnessed a string of massive flops, and quite a good portion of them were female-led movies. The most recent examples are The Marvels and Sony’s latest release, Madame Web. Both have received unimpressive reviews and poor box office receipts.
While superhero fatigue is partly to blame, these films have also been criticized way more than other flops, the most common complaint being the “wokeness” that they allegedly possess. After the massive failure of Madame Web, there has been a creative overhaul at their headquarters, which has completely changed their initial plans.

According to a report by the Twitter account Culture Crave, the entire writers’ room of Silk: Spider Society has been fired, except for the showrunner Angela Kang. Keeping in mind the continuous losses of female-centric movies like The Marvels and Madame Web,...

After debuting part of the track live at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, Dua Lipa has officially released her new single, “Training Season,” in full. Stream it below.
Elle Woods (one of our great philosophers) once said, “Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy,” but this high-energy single was created from a place of frustration for Dua Lipa. In a statement, she recalled the day the concept for the song appeared to her, sharing, “I had been on a string of bad dates, and the last one was the final straw.” She brought that sentiment into the studio and declared training season officially over.
The disco-pop sound on “Training Season” feels in line with Lipa’s previous single, “Houdini,” and with her Grammy-winning album, Future Nostalgia, while the focused, self-assured lyrics recall her breakthrough hit, “New Rules.” “Need someone to hold me close, deeper than I’ve...

Raised in tow of a military stepfather, 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu lives in a West German US Air Force base when we meet her in 1959––the year she meets Elvis. It happens through means befitting a ninth-grader, less so a man in his mid-20s. You know the method, but you probably haven’t used it since grade school. That’s right: the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, five years into stardom, enlists a buddy to ask her out on his behalf. Flattered, stunned, and barely allowed to attend, she goes, the last choice she’ll ever make pre-Elvis.
But if there’s one thing Sofia Coppola’s breezy, crushing biopic wants us to remember, it’s that there was a post-Elvis. Coppola doesn’t depict those years, but the storied 14-year stretch “with” him emphasizes Priscilla’s emancipation. It provides all the context we need to appreciate the autonomy of...

The quest for justice, told through one of its professional advocates, is one of cinema’s most common narrative devices. It’s why so many of us grow up feeling that lawyers must comprise approximately half of the workforce, and the job largely consists of delivering three-and-a-half-minute monologues. While it’s one of cinema’s most useful professions in terms of structuring plot and themes, the reality of the corrupt and self-serving legal system is starkly out of sync with James Stewart’s Paul Biegler and Reese Witherspoons’ Elle Woods.
Still, despite the high standards of their lawyer colleagues on screen and the woeful ones of those experienced by many in real life, Canan, the protagonist of “Hesitation Wound” is a compelling, knotty heroine who doesn’t over-concern herself with what end of the spectrum she lies. The more things change, the more the Hollywood studios stay the same. Twenty years ago, we wrote a book, Open Wide, about a battle at the multiplex on the weekend of July 4, 2003, for the hearts, minds and dollars of the American public. In some respects, nothing has changed. The showdown that July weekend two decades ago pitted pink against black, and a sparkly self-actualized blonde heroine against a grim avatar of thermonuclear war.

Reese Witherspoon is recalling riding out the rollercoaster of being a young Hollywood star under the male gaze.
The Hello Sunshine production company founder told Harper’s Bazaar how the infamous 1996 erotic thriller “Fear” — released when she was 20 — partly inspired her to shift her career to become an “agent for change” for women in Hollywood.
Witherspoon unpacked the iconic rollercoaster scene in which her character is fingered by the sinister love interest, played by Mark Wahlberg. Witherspoon noted that she requested a stunt double for the below-the-waist scenes; the film was directed by James Foley.
“I didn’t have control over it,” Witherspoon said. “It wasn’t explicit in the script that that’s what was going to happen, so that was something that I think the director thought of on his own and then asked me on set if I would do it, and I said no. It wasn’t a particularly great experience.

Pop culture trends seem to change in less time than it takes to watch a single TikTok, but one that appears to be holding steady is something that means a lot to me: the rise of "Yes, like other girls." It's that pink-hued corner of pop culture that takes gleeful, proud joy in girly-girl fashion, hobbies, and vibes - think the popularity of Amazon Prime Video's fashionably retro series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," the soaring mainstream acceptance of romance novels (and their television adaptations) like "Bridgerton," or, most recently, the unbridled enthusiasm unleashed by the first "Barbie" trailer.
As a child of the '90s and a teenage girl in the '00s, pop culture mostly informed me that I had to choose: I could love pink, poofy dresses, and romance and resign myself to being perceived as a vapid contrast to the "main character" or the embodiment of a "mean girl,...

Christina Applegate turned down the role of Elle Woods in 'Legally Blonde''. The 51-year-old actress had not long finished playing Kelly Bundy in the long-running sitcom 'Married... with Children' when she was approached to play the sorority girl-turned-lawyer in the now-classic comedy and joked that saying no to the part was a "big f****** mistake" because she is now not as wealthy as the movie's eventual star Reese Witherspoon, who has a reported net worth of $400 million. She told Variety: "I wouldn’t toy with the idea of 'Legally Blonde' because it felt too fresh getting out of 'Married…With Children'. It was very similar on paper. I started to read it and I remember calling them and going, ‘Oh, it’s too similar. Can’t do it.’ Um, big f****** mistake. I’d have Witherspoon money! No, just kidding!"However, the 'Vacation' star...

Amazon’s big acquisition of the legacy film studio, MGM, is looking to pay off in a big way. One of the biggest stories that first came out of this studio purchase was whether the streamer would be releasing future James Bond movies exclusively through the platform since MGM owns the rights to the 007 agent. Amazon would assure people that Bond would continue to be a theatrical experience. However, there is still a whole library of intellectual properties that the channel plans on re-adapting in some way.
Deadline reports that among those properties are popular past franchises that include Robocop, Stargate, Legally Blonde, Fame, Barbershop, The Magnificent Seven, Pink Panther, and The Thomas Crown Affair. Amazon Studios has been exploring the list of titles they now have the rights to in an effort to reboot in a film or TV medium. Amazon shelled out over $8 billion for the MGM legacy,...

Exclusive: MGM’s extensive film & TV catalogue, built over the past century, was the main driver behind Amazon’s $8.5B acquisition of the storied Hollywood studio. For the past year, since the deal closed in March 2022, Amazon Studios has been sifting through MGM’s library, identifying about a dozen initial titles for film and/or TV development, including Robocop, Stargate, Legally Blonde, Fame, Barbershop, The Magnificent Seven, Pink Panther and The Thomas Crown Affair.
We hear A-list creative auspices have reached out to inquire about adapting MGM IP which they are fans of. Additionally, Amazon Studios also has been leaning on its own roster of talent for some projects.
Each title is being approached differently — some are being steered toward film, some toward TV and some big ones are getting both movie and TV treatment.
