Anya Taylor-Joy is back in action with the Mad Max franchise in an anticipated project, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga alongside Chris Hemsworth. Given that Charlize Theron initially portrayed the role in Mad Max: Fury Road, many are praising the former with which she embodied the latter’s legacy with her spectacular acting prowess.

With the movie already released in theaters, it may surprise many to learn that the lead actress sought advice from X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult. She chose to do this instead of approaching Charlize Theron, who could have offered valuable insights from being in her shoes at first.

Australian filmmaker George Miller has been described as both a genius and a visionary. He seems to know how to make a great project and his fame began in 1979, when he introduced the world to the first movie from the Mad Max franchise, a cult classic series that initially starred Mel Gibson in the titular role before he was replaced by Tom Hardy in Fury Road. As we all know, the franchise continued with a fifth movie, a prequel titled Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which explores the origins of Imperator Furiosa, a character introduced in Fury Road. The movie received a long-standing ovation at Cannes this year, and it was finally released in cinemas on May 23, 2024.
Is the movie any good? Should yo go watch it? The early Cannes reviews were all for it, but we can now confirm that the movie is an absolute hit with both critics and fans,...

George Miller, the director of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is revisiting the on-set drama between Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in his 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road.
In a new interview, Miller recalled the feud between the stars during the film’s production, which resulted from Hardy’s tardiness.
“They were just two very different performers,” Miller told The Telegraph. “Tom has a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it, and whatever was going on with him at the time, he had to be coaxed out of his trailer. Whereas Charlize was incredibly disciplined – a dancer by training, which told in the precision of her performance – and always the first one on set.”
Miller noted that things on the set gradually got better, adding, “I’m an optimist, so I saw their behavior as mirroring their characters, where they had to learn to cooperate in order to ensure mutual survival.

Billy the Kid will be back on TV screens very soon.
MGM+ this week that Billy the Kid Season 2 will debut on Sunday, October 15, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
There is a little bit of a catch:
Four episodes of the season will air this year, with the final four being held until 2024.
A reason for the decision has not been revealed, but there's a good chance it has something to do with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Adapting the biography of a singular figure is hard enough, but how do you adapt the autobiography of a band? Bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars, drummer Tommy Lee, and Vince Neil joined forces to make Mötley Crüe, one of the most successful bands of the 1980s and well-documented hedonist troublemakers.
In 2001, all four members of the band along with Neil Strauss released an autobiography called "The Dirt," describing the group as "the world's most notorious rock band." The book shot to the top 10 on the New York Times Best Seller list and stayed there for 10 weeks. On a personal note, I used the book as the subject of my own freshman year biography project book report in 2004, when I showed up to school dressed like Nikki Sixx and delivered my presentation in full character ... much to my teacher's chagrin.

Talk about George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa, is making the rounds again after Nicholas Hoult spoke with Comicbook.com about whether or not his War Boy character, Nux, appears in the film. According to Hoult, who talked with Comicbook.com at the Renfield premiere, fans won’t witness him in Miller’s new epic. When asked to elaborate on his absence, Hoult gave a straightforward answer that would make sense to anyone familiar with time.
While Nux is dead in the present, fans hoped his character would somehow return for Imperator Furiosa’s early days. It’s a nice thought, but according to Hoult, it won’t happen. Simply put, the time frame for Furiosa does not align with Nux and his devotion toward Immortan Joe. “I knew going into Fury Road, I knew all of Nux’s life up until the moment we meet him in that film,...

Diverse festival notables from Hannah Ha Ha to The Blue Caftan join a spattering of specialty horror titles led by Consecration, and the U.S. theatrical debut of Gaspar Noé’s controversial Irréversible: Straight Cut.
The last is presented by Altered Innocence, whose owner Frank Jaffe spoke with Deadline about why he wanted to give Noe’s unusual 2019 director’s cut — of the Argentinian/French director’s disturbing 2002 film Irreversible — a release Stateside. “It’s a film that needs to be seen. Or made available,” he said. StudioCanal approached him twice. “They said, ‘No one is brave enough to take on this film. Will you?’” And “there is an audience for it…Tickets are selling.”
Jaffe said he first watched Irreversible, or tried to, via Netflix mail order DVD when he was 14. “My dad made me turn it off halfway through.”

A spiritual kissing cousin of such compellingly campy ’90s Aussie-produced extravaganzas as “Strictly Ballroom” and “Muriel’s Wedding,” director Gracie Otto’s “Seriously Red” disarms and delights as a sensationally spirited concoction that neatly balances unfettered outrageousness and unabashed sentimentality. The beating heart of the entire enterprise is Krew Boylan. As screenwriter, she has created a terrific role for herself. As star, she proves absolutely fearless while illuminating every aspect of a sometimes exhilarating, sometimes exasperating, always endearing protagonist. She works a singularly impressive type of movie magic while simultaneously driving the movie over the top and anchoring the borderline-fantastical narrative in something resembling reality.
Boylan stars as Raylene Delaney, better known as Red, a socially awkward small-town New South Wales realtor with, as she herself admits, “an impulse control problem.” To put it mildly. A fanatically passionate fan of Dolly Parton, she decks herself out as her idol for a company gathering,...

Despite the best cameo efforts of Dannii Minogue, Krew Boylan’s passion project is too frantic and narcissistic to convince
This Australian movie is a colourful comedy of romance and finding yourself, and it’s clearly a personal project for its writer-star Krew Boylan. I sat down to it hoping for something like Muriel’s Wedding, the film that first introduced us to Toni Collette but unfortunately, there’s something a bit frantic and narcissistic about it: a film that doesn’t quite convince you to care enough about its characters or what they care about.
Red, played by Boylan, is a young woman who is employed in an estate agent’s office and pretty hopeless at the job because, in her goofy and adorable way, her real passion is Dolly Parton: imitating her, studying her and obsessing over her. She’s also a bit self-conscious about being redheaded and flat-chested.

Seriously Red is an Australian comedy movie directed by Gracie Otto starring Krew Boylan.
A charming comedy in pastel tones in the tone of some Australian comedies that gets the most out of its material and dives in with malicious intent in the world of imitators of celebrities.
Funny, idiotic, stupid… Know we like it, right?
About the Movie Seriously Red (2022)
This movie is all about what it wants to evoke and if you are looking for elegance or suaveness, run away! "This is where I belong. This is what I'm supposed to be doing!" Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for a comedy titled Seriously Red, from director Gracie Otto. The film is written by and stars Krew Boylan as Red, whose dream is to be the world's greatest Dolly Parton impersonator. After she loses her job, she decides to jump into the impersonation world and see if she can make it work. She befriends an amorous Elvis impersonator, played by Rose Byrne, and takes to the stage - only to end up learning true happiness comes when you're being the best version of yourself. The cast also includes Bobby Cannavale (Wilson), Daniel Webber (Kenny), Celeste Barber (Teeth), and Thomas Campell (Francis). This looks like it'll be entertaining and upbeat, not too cheesy, with some kooky humor & good heart that gives it a nice boost. ›››

Our hearts have been stolen by the legendary Old West gunslinger. It’s no surprise to Tom Blyth (above), the captivating newcomer who plays him in this moody, nuanced drama from Vikings creator Michael Hirst. “He was witty, magnetic, read Shakespeare. The history books talk about how people couldn’t help but like him, even when he was doing bad things,” Blyth says. In May 8’s third installment, the teen Billy McCarty takes his first step down an outlaw path. The son of Irish immigrants has faced destitution and death in the family’s move west. Now a new loss brings devastating grief, and a violent showdown with his abusive stepfather (Jamie Beamish), a fraudster and philanderer, leaves Billy the “man of the house.” When his attempt to earn an honest living is thwarted by frontier society corruption, broke Billy lets his poker buddy, older criminal firecracker Jesse Evans (Daniel Webber...

Dolly Parton was everywhere at SXSW, from her documentary Still Working 9-5 to her collaboration with Blockchain Creative Labs which involved both a well-received performance at Austin City Limits and Dollyverse NFTs. There’s a reason she’s still an icon, and Gracie Otto’s hilarious Seriously Red has decades of witticisms and quotes to draw upon. Written and starring Krew Boylan as Raylene “Red” Delancy (a Dolly impersonator with naturally smaller breasts and red hair) and framed by Dolly quotes—including “find out who you are and do it on purpose” and “it costs a lot of money to look cheap”—it’s one of those films where a thirty-something comes of age from sheer will and stubbornness.

“We need more Dollys in the world,” is the message of this raucous but hugely enjoyable comedy, which, at the same time, reminds us that there is—and can only be—one Dolly Parton. The 76-year-old country legend is having quite a moment at SXSW this year, arriving at the festival with a concert to promote her new album (and novel) Run, Rose, Run and her online Nft project Dollyverse, while riding a wave of public goodwill after her philanthropic support of the Covid vaccine with a $1 million donation.

Dolly Parton is a great American, but she’s big in Australia, too, and she means the world to the heroine of “Seriously Red,” a deceptively modest vehicle for Krew Boylan, who plays the lead here and also wrote the script.
What starts out as a crowd-pleaser about an awkward woman who becomes a Dolly impersonator gradually reveals itself as a fairly serious examination of how confidence can be gained through such impersonation, but only up to a point.
Boylan and her director Gracie Otto (the 2021 documentary “Under the Volcano”) truly love Parton, and “Seriously Red” is studded with Dolly quotes, both in dialogue form and in on-screen title cards. “Storms make trees take deeper roots,” quotes Boylan’s Red, a good-hearted but rather lost woman who is living in her mother’s garage and floundering at her current job in finance. Jobs never seem to last long for Red,...

Rose Byrne’s array of credits includes a wide range of projects, from comedies such as “Neighbours” and “Bridesmaids” to historical dramas including “Mrs. America” and superhero pics “X-Men: First Class,” horror films and gems “Juliet, Naked.” Now, her production company Dollhouse Pictures has “Seriously Red,” being sold by Arclight Films at the EFM. Exclusive: Daniel Webber is set to star opposite Tom Blyth in Billy the Kid, Epix’s hourlong drama series written by Vikings and The Tudors creator Michael Hirst.
The series is described as an epic romantic adventure based on the life of Billy the Kid (Blyth). Also known as William H. Bonney, it tracks his humble Irish roots and early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier to his pivotal role in the Lincoln County War and beyond.
Webber will play Jesse Evans. If Billy the Kid hadn’t been there, Evans would have been the most famous outlaw taking part in the Lincoln County Wars.
