Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. This is a special edition of Nxt, not a PPV but a “special event” in Nxt: Roadblock, so let’s get straight into the review and see what happened this week…
Match #1: Jailhouse Street Fight – Tony D’Angelo def. Dijak The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With The Underboss Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo by his side, Tony D’Angelo was the one who delivered hard justice to Dijak in a brutal Jailhouse Street Fight. The action was fast and furious with Dijak gaining the quick upper hand thanks to a High Justice chokeslam onto a chair, but his momentum was short lived when D’Angelo countered a moonsault into a back suplex onto several more chairs. The two men continued to wage war on one another and their attacks on the outside culminated in a massive top rope elbow...

Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into the review and see what happened this week…
Match #1: Ilja Dragunov def. Trick Williams The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Mad Dragon returned to the ring in grand fashion as he took it right to one of the most athletic Superstars in Nxt, Trick Williams. Williams came out incredibly confident landing a few early strikes, but Dragunov responded in kind with his aggressive style. The two Superstars continued to thrash each other with clubbing blows, but a top rope attempt from Dragunov went awry as Williams knocked him to the outside. Jd McDonagh appeared at ringside and joined the commentary team, seemingly trying to intimidate The Mad Dragon, but it was to no avail as Dragunov rallied, set a dazed Williams up in the corner, and nailed Torpedo Moscow to secure the win.

Match #1: Tyler Bate def. Grayson Waller The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Grayson Waller was out to prove something after losing to Bron Breakker at Nxt Vengeance Day, but he couldn’t quite overcome the Big Strong Boi. Both men were evenly matched with Bate using his innovative offense to keep the wily Waller off-balance. Still clearly focused on his backstage issues with Shawn Michaels, Waller tried mocking the Heartbreak Kid, but it backfired and nearly cost him the match. The action continued at a frenzied pace, but Waller’s attempt to use the ropes as leverage during a pin was spotted by the referee, and the momentary lapse in judgment allowed Bate to reverse it into the winning pin.
My Score: 3 out...

Match #1: Nxt North American Championship Match – Wes Lee def. Dijak The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Dijak promised that Hard Justice was coming, but Wes Lee proved himself to be a worthy champion. The bruising challenger was more than formidable, using his clubbing strikes and his size advantage to ground the high-flying Lee and keep the raucous crowd from backing the champ. Lee’s fortitude shined bright when he absorbed every brutal blow and dished out some incredible offense, highlighted by a twisting splash off the top rope. Dijak may have had Lee dead to rights on the outside, but Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo appeared and bared the brunt...

Match #1: Dijak def. Tony D’Angelo The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Don of Nxt Tony D’Angelo and Dijak delivered a brutal and hard-hitting affair in their matchup. The Superstars fought inside and outside the ring, with Dijak at one point tossing D’Angelo into Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, only for The Don to pop right up and hit a crushing spear. Dijak later managed to handcuff Lorenzo to the ring post, neutralizing him as a threat, but his High Justice chokeslam wasn’t enough for the win. Lorenzo wanted to sacrifice himself for D’Angelo, but The Don refused his efforts and took a big boot to the face that gave Dijak the win.

Match #1: Carmelo Hayes def. Apollo Crews The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Carmelo Hayes has been on a mission to prove that he’s still the cream of the crop in Nxt, and a win over Apollo Crews further solidified his place in the pecking order. Both Superstars showed off their supreme skills with highly athletic aerial moves combined with grueling mat technician skills. Hayes was able to slow Crews down with a strategically placed leg kick on the apron, but Crews overcame it and put together an incredible string of combination offense, including a massive superplex. The two men traded big blows, but Hayes finally got Crews down on the mat long enough to hit his signature Nothing But Net leg drop...

Match #1: Julius Creed def. Jd McDonagh The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
A focused and motivated Julius Creed became a huge problem for Jd McDonagh. With the disrespect towards Diamond Mine fresh on his mind, Creed used his freakish athleticism to lay waste to his opponent but the crafty McDonagh used his experience and tactical strikes down the larger Creed. As the war waged on, McDonagh went for a moonsault but Creed rolled out of the way, hit a spinebuster, and then clinched the victory with a sliding clothesline. After the match, Indus Sher appeared and challenged the Creed Brothers to a match at New Year’s Evil.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Wendy Choo def.

The Nxt North American champion has had issues with The Don of Nxt Tony D’Angelo, and it gained a new chapter as Wes Lee battled D’Angelo’s right hand man, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. Before it even began the two men battled backstage and spilled into ringside before they finally got the match officially started. Lorenzo controlled the pace early on, working the champion over with his technical ground work as well as crushing backbreakers. Von Wagner’s brutality forced Axiom and Chase to work together, but the pair turned on each other to try to get a quick win. Joe Gacy is looking to lead Schism into a new, more dominant chapter, but first he was hoping to conquer the resistance from Cameron Grimes. As the action in the match heated up, Grimes would decleat Gacy with a pair of kicks that had the match headed to the moon. The abuse only fired up Henley as she dropped Rose with a kick to the back of the head and a massive right hand. Rose rallied to toss Henley around the ring with a variety of slams and suplexes. In her pic, Rose also adjusted oversized squarish sunglasses to protect her eyes and wore a matching orange scrunchy to keep her hair in place.

Rose also credited Harry Lhgfx Photography for the shot, which was one of several she shared from that particular orange swimsuit shoot at the beach in recent weeks.

Italy’s Minerva Pictures — the company specialized in genre fare such as teen chiller “Shortcut” that recently made a U.S. splash — is launching world sales at AFM on “Mondocane,” a dystopian drama about the struggle of two 13-year-old orphan boys in a Southern Italian gangland.
“Mondocane” toplines Alessandro Borghi (“Devils”).
In “Mondocane,” Borghi (pictured) plays the leader of one of two gangs vying for control of the Southern Italian port city of Taranto which in a dystopian near-future that has become a no man’s land surrounded by barbed wire and abandoned by police. The film is being marketed as an “Oliver Twist tale in a ‘Mad Max’ setting,” Minerva Pictures international sales chief Francesca Delise told Variety.
Delise noted that for Minerva, “Mondocane” segues from the international success it saw with Alessio Liguori’s “Shortcut,” which despite the pandemic recently went out theatrically on almost 700 U.S. screens via Gravitas Ventures.
