Never make jokes about golf – or is it, never make jokes about the 9/11 terrorist attacks? As Greg Gutfeld found out on Wednesday night, it’s definitely both.
Jokes that clang on the studio audience have become a regular part of the “Gutfeld!” schtick on Fox News late night, and the namesake host dropped a doozy amid a monologue about the merger between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia-based Liv Golf. This time, the unwise wisecrack earned him 10 seconds of near-silence.
Gutfeld served up the blockbuster sports merger as the main topic of his opening monologue, fully aware he was out of his element. But one sequence of gags led him straight to dead-air:
“I mean, it’s Saudi Arabia,” Gutfeld began. “Does the game start making changes? Like hiding IEDs in sand traps?”
That got a short burst of nervous laughter from the live audience, and Gutfeld kept rolling:

In today’s news that I’m almost positive you didn’t see coming, Deadline has revealed that Rob Schneider is developing a sequel to The Animal for Tubi.
The original film was released over twenty years ago and found Rob Scheider playing Marvin Mange, a police station evidence clerk who is critically injured and put back together by a mad scientist who gives him animal parts in a transplant procedure, resulting in strange changes to his behaviour. The Animal sequel will once again star Rob Scheider as Marvin, who is now an old dog who needs to learn new tricks as he hunts down a new uber-animal with powers far beyond his own. Deadline hears that Marvin will get into yet another accident and will have to be put together yet again with new animal parts. In addition to starring in the sequel, Rob Schneider will also direct, produce,...

In keeping with the theme of the movie, the official logline for the sequel, tentatively titled The Animal 2, is as follows: Marvin Mange, now an old dog, needs to learn new tricks as he hunts down a new uber-animal with powers far beyond his own.
I hear in it, Marvin, now retired, gets into an accident and has to be put together again with new animal parts. He goes...

Is there room for more independent production in the world of television? The small screen has seen an increasingly influx of talent from the film world and beyond, but it's typically by way of established studios and production companies -- going outside of that system has been difficult, even for companies with a proven track record elsewhere in TV. But Rob Schneider, talking to Deadline today, is planning a project he hopes "shakes up Hollywood": "Real Rob," an eight-episode comedy series Schneider is independently producing and financing. He will star in "Real Rob" alongside his wife, Patricia Azarcoya Schneider, and his friend Jamie Lissow -- all three co-wrote the show. The single-camera half-hour series, which sounds halfway between "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Louie," will be based on Schneider's life and will find him playing an exaggerated version of himself, with breaks for stand-up bits. Filming is slated to begin in March.

Rob Schneider is returning to series television, this time on his own terms. In a endeavor he hopes “shakes up Hollywood”, the actor-comedian is self-financing and starring in an eight-episode independently produced comedy series he co-wrote with his wife, Mexican writer-producer Patricia Azarcoya Schneider, who will co-star on the show, and his friend, comedian Jamie Lissow. “I want to do my own Fawlty Towers,” said Rob Schneider, referring to the popular British sitcom, which John Cleese co-wrote and starred in with his then-wife Connie Booth. Like his 2012 comedy Rob on CBS, where his wife was played by a professional actress, the new show will be loosely based on Schneider’s life. But the similarities end there. Rob, which is the subject of a joke in the pilot of the new series, was a traditional multi-camera, multi-generational sitcom about a guy, his Mexican wife and his in-laws. As the title of the new series,...
