[This story contains spoilers from the season finale of Lawmen: Bass Reeves.]
In the season finale of Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the audience witnessed a standoff between former Confederate soldier Esau Pierce (played by Barry Pepper) and the hero lawman Bass Reeves (Golden Globe-nominated David Oyelowo). While Esau seemed to see something admirable in Bass from their day-one encounter (when Reeves was still under the confines of slavery), an unfortunate turn of events toward the end of episode one would forever make Esau a mortal enemy in Bass’ eyes.
And it could not be any other way, says Chad Feehan, showrunner of the Paramount+ series. Having contributed to successful cable network shows such as Ray Donovan (Showtime) and Banshee (Cinemax), Feehan tells The Hollywood Reporter that his friend, executive producer Taylor Sheridan, introducing him to Oyelowo provided the right foundation for the trio to work together in producing what Feehan calls a long-overdue, extensive exploration of the law legend’s...

On Friday night, Oprah Winfrey hosted a swanky celebration for “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” executive producer and star David Oyelowo at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood.

The creator of Lawmen: Bass Reeves is setting the record straight about whether the show is a spinoff of 1883.
When the show was initially ordered, it was billed by Paramount+ as a spinoff of the first Yellowstone prequel.
Chad Feehan, the creator and showrunner of the highly-anticipated new drama, is opening up about what changed to TV Line.
Making the show a spinoff of the critically-lauded 1883 "was an idea we briefly talked about," Feehan explained to the outlet.
"But for me, once I learned some of the things I didn't know about Bass' life, and decided where we wanted to start the story and where we wanted to end the story, it preceded 1883," he added.
In a separate interview with TV Insider, Feehan said the idea to make it a spinoff was talked about before he was hired.

The premium cable movie channel Starz has reportedly canceled three of their shows plus one upcoming project, according to Deadline. Starz will no longer be continuing the run of the wrestling drama Heels, as well as Run the World and Blindspotting. In addition, the channel has also decided not to proceed with The Venery of Samantha Bird. Heels, Run the World and Blindspotting have all completed two seasons, but The Venery of Samantha Bird was in the middle of production when the show paused for the strikes. Two episodes were left to film in the season.

There are some big changes at Starz, and it's bad news for four shows.
Variety reported Monday evening that the premium cabler has canceled Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting and is scrapping The Venery of Samantha Bird ahead of its premiere.
Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting lasted for two seasons on the premium cabler, but it seems that the trio didn't have enough interest to sustain additional seasons.
The highest profile of the three shows was Heels, which starred Stephen Amell as Jack Spade, a man who inherited the league from his father.
However, he struggled to keep things running well, leading to plenty of drama across the two seasons.
The cast also included Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, and Trey Tucker.

Starz has axed three existing drama series and one upcoming project.
The network has binned Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting as well as not moving forward with The Venery of Samantha Bird.
Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting all aired two seasons and The Venery of Samantha Bird paused production in May due to the strikes with two episodes left to film.
Heels revolves around the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals (Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig) war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.

Starz is canceling four of its series, Variety has learned exclusively. Specifically, “Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” will not get new seasons at the cable network, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” Season 1 is being scrapped without airing.
“Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” all recently aired their second season at Starz, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” was in production on its first season. Production was shut down, however, at the onset of the WGA strike. It was reported at the time that only two episodes of the first season were left to shoot.
“The Venery of Samantha Bird” was to star Katherine Langford as the title character. Per the official logline, “Samantha, while visiting family in New England, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But the couple’s picture-perfect love story isn’t as sweet as it seems on the surface.

Taylor Sheridan’s “Lawman: Bass Reeves” is nearly upon us. And the first footage from the new series has arrived in the form of a very brief trailer (watch it above).
Originally conceived as a spin-off of Sheridan’s blockbuster “Yellowstone” spin-off “1883,” “Lawman: Bass Reeves” has turned into its own franchise of sorts with the official synopsis referring to it as an “anthology series,” with “future iterations that will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.”
David Oyelowo stars as Reeves (he also executive produces), who served as the first black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi and was the likely inspiration for The Lone Ranger. According to the official synopsis Reeves was “known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.

The "Run the World" Cast Tease the Girls "All Take Risks" in Season 2: "Jumping Off Cliffs Together"
It's hard to believe it's been two years since Starz's "Run the World" first hit our TV screens - even the cast are surprised when they think about the show's long hiatus. But the good news is the Harlem-set dramedy is finally back for season two, which kicked off on May 26, and 30-something-year-old besties Whitney (Amber Stevens West), Renee (Bresha Webb), and Sondi (Corbin Reid) are ready to get back into the swing of things. Of course, the half-hour series returns for much more drama, sisterhood, and romance following season one's wild finale, but that's not all viewers can look forward to.
"We just leaned in harder because we became even closer friends during the break in between, so it was easy to dive right back in."
"There's some fun stuff that happens this season," Stevens West teases to Popsugar. "There are the big things that are fun this...
