The last two episodes of Fear The Walking Dead took viewers to the Abigail compound, a place run by Celia Flores, a woman who sees the apocalypse as a promising new phase of life. With Fear The Walking Dead now on break until August, Daily Dead had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Marlene Forte, the actress who plays Celia, about her actions in the Mid-Season 2 finale, her character’s understanding of Nick and compassion for Daniel, and the potential question mark surrounding Celia’s future. *Spoiler Warning*
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me today, and congratulations on your phenomenal performance as Celia on Fear The Walking Dead.
Marlene Forte: Thank you. It was a phenomenally written character. We don’t get too many of those for women on TV. It was a treat. It’s amazing to work with female producers like Gale Anne Hurd,...

Pasadena Playhouse is partnering with the University of Southern California in a mentorship program for emerging playwrights. Greenhouse at The Playhouse, set to begin during the 2013-14 academic year, will develop and produce staged readings of Mfa works from USC's School of Dramatic Arts students. "I have always believed that it is both the pleasure and the responsibility of theatres such as The Playhouse to develop new work and to nurture young writers," Sheldon Epps, the long-time artistic director of the Pasadena Playhouse, said in a statement. "This exciting incipient connection with USC will help us to further our sincere and gratefully successful efforts in both of those initiatives." Elizabeth Doran, executive director of the Playhouse, added: “It’s fantastic to know that USC shares our desire to give these students hands-on training in a process that will be a significant part of their professional life in the theatre.” Greenhouse...

A Haunted House will be released to theaters later this week and we have some new clips for you to check out. Tamika Jones also had a chance to interview Marlene Forte, who has appeared on dozens of TV shows (Castle, Eastbound & Down, The West Wing, CSI, Bones), and is playing the housekeeper in A Haunted House:
Thank you for taking the time to talk with Daily Dead. What can you tell us about your character in A Haunted House?
I play Rosa the housekeeper. She is a little strange. She lurks around the house and look’s like she hasn’t slept much. She has worked with the family for a long time and is a little odd but she loves her job! It has Lots of perks! And she isn’t too happy about the new girl friend!
Why were you interested in taking on a role in a horror-comedy film?...

Anonymous screenwriters behind Hollywood & Swine say it's all in good fun, and much of Los Angeles is laughing with them
It is consistently first with Hollywood news, one headline scoop following another: Church of Scientology turns to Craigslist to find new wife for Tom Cruise; CIA thwarts terrorist plot to blow up the Kardashians; paedophiles across country take up gardening after seeing Disney's The odd life of Timothy Green.
Its eyes are everywhere, its sources impeccable, an A-list of stars and studio executives with jaw-dropping testimony about the latest ructions and scandals in showbusiness.
Except that it's all fake. Welcome to Hollywood & Swine, a satirical blog fast becoming the entertainment industry's funniest and least reliable news source.
The brainchild of two anonymous screenwriters, the site's concocted stories have rained mockery on an industry famous for self-regard and pushed boundaries of humour and taste.

Senses of Cinema editor Rolando Caputo introduces the new issue: "For some time now, Senses has wanted to publish an English language translation of Jean-Baptiste Thoret's seminal article, 'The Seventies Reloaded: (What does the cinema think about when it dreams of Baudrillard?),' first published in French in 2005. So, it has been some wait, but finally we've got our wish thanks to a translation by Daniel Fairfax that does full justice to the original. Thoret is both one of the most esteemed scholars on Baudrillard's writings (a long-term Editor-in-Chief of Panic, a French journal closely associated with Baudrillardian thought), and a specialist of the American cinema of the post-classical Hollywood period (author of Le Cinéma américain des années 70, 2006). Both strands come together in sticking fashion in 'The Seventies Reloaded.'"

Diet. Rest. Massage. Martial arts. Acupuncture. Dance classes. Yoga. Pilates. Stretches. Cycling. These are among the various ways that actors stay fit for physically demanding roles. For example, consider how rigorously Colman Domingo maintains his health while appearing in the new Kander and Ebb musical "The Scottsboro Boys" in New York and performing Susan Stroman's athletic choreography. It's much the same way he prepared for his roles in "Passing Strange" and his solo show, "A Boy and His Soul": He cuts down on sugar, eliminates dairy during the performance week, and ups his protein intake. He doesn't go out for drinks after the show but instead heads home for eight to nine hours of sleep. During the day, he emails and text-messages to avoid using his voice. He goes to the gym, cycles, stretches, does a bit of yoga, naps after lunch—basically, as he says, lives like a monk.
