The history of Hollywood adapting video games in movies and TV shows has been a little spotty, to say the least, but in recent years, I think the tide has been turning. With shows like The Last of Us and Fallout, video game fans have developed a little hope to see their favorite adapted into a great piece of art and while there will still be wasted efforts like Netflix’s The Witcher and Paramount+’s Halo, they are still only two shows. So, in keeping with that spirit of hope we created a list of the 10 best TV shows that were adapted from video games, they can be original stories in the world of video games but they have to be connected to the original IP.

John Cena made his debut as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, before going on to headline his own spin-off series. Peacemaker was a big success for Warner Bros./DC, and a second season is currently in production for the Max streaming service.
Gunn has already confirmed that Peacemaker season 2 will be set after the events of Superman Legacy, and that the movie will "have an impact" on the show. Does this mean we can expect to see Smith or some other Peacemaker characters appear in the Dcu Man of Steel reboot?
Cena was asked about the possibility of showing up in future Dcu projects during an appearance at Comicpalooza, and while he brilliantly evaded the question, his response did seem to suggest that he may know a little more than he's willing to divulge.

Family members of U.S. citizens believed to be taken hostage during Hamas’ Israel incursion this past weekend are wondering what the Biden administration is doing.
Speaking at a Tuesday press conference in Tel Aviv, Ruby Chen expressed frustration that he had not heard from government officials about efforts to find his 19-year-old son, Itay, who went missing while on active duty for the Israeli military. “We heard from a person from here in the Tel Aviv embassy, but beyond taking note that we filled out forms and defined him as missing,...

I love the television procedural. It’s a stalwart of the medium, a type of storytelling that understands TV’s inherent episodic structure and fills it keenly. It’s comfort food of the sturdiest order. When a good chef prepares it, as they did in shows like “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Law & Order,” “The X-Files” and “Poker Face,” it’s good for the gut, head and heart. And as our examples of “prestige television” lean more into ultra-serialization and movie-sized stories stretched into limited series, I yearn for the procedural’s self-contained taste.
I came into “Found” ready to love. But you can’t serve me burnt leftovers and expect me to compliment the chef.
The premise of the NBC drama is simple, as it should be. Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) leads an independent team of crisis managers/investigators/vigilantes with an intently focused goal: finding missing people.

The latest entry in the animated franchise, Resident Evil: Death Island comes two years after the last entry, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and is set in 2015, just after the events of Resident Evil: Vendetta but before Resident Evil 7. Got that?
Somewhere in San Fransisco Dso Agent Leon S. Kennedy is trying to recover kidnapped scientist Dr. Antonio Taylor (Frank Todaro) when a mysterious woman appears and, after a high-speed chase, causes him to crash. Claire Redfield is also in town, trying to find out what kind of creature can use Orcas as a food source. And whether or not the creature is a bioweapon.
Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers are also looking for answers.

Resident Evil is a video-game franchise with no foreseeable end in sight. And as Capcom’s zombie shooter approaches the big 3-0, it unleashes another entry in the often overlooked animated series of films. Taking place between games 6 and 7, and following 2017’s Vendetta, the story of Resident Evil: Death Island is subject to the same formula as its predecessors. A big threat brews somewhere, and the characters rush in to stop it. However, the new animated film does manage to set itself apart by featuring an all-star cast and complementing the over-the-top action sequences with organic emotional moments.
While the previous animated films — Degeneration, Damnation, and Vendetta — tend to star only a few major characters from the game franchise, Death Island includes four heavy-hitters. Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, and Claire Redfield are all active during this mission.
Death Island opens with a flashback from the Raccoon City...

It’s the final week of July and two more new horror movies are headed onto the big screen this weekend. They’ll have to compete with the #Barbenheimer phenomenon, but both new horror releases look to bring very different counter programming to the box office. One is the next rated “R” fright fest from A24, while the other is a horror-comedy built for families.
Here’s all the new horror releasing July 25– July 30, 2023!
For daily reminders about new horror releases, be sure to follow @HorrorCalendar.
First up, a tragedy leads two dysfunctional families to intertwine in disturbing ways in Screambox Exclusive Repulse, now streaming on the Bloody Disgusting-powered platform.
The bleak, brutal Czech film harkens back to boundary-pushing horror like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes.
In the film, Kateřina and Robert raise their young daughter in a luxurious modern villa, but their family life can hardly be called harmonious.

When Rolling Stone asked me to take photos of my experience at the Tribeca Film Festival, where I was releasing my directorial debut Shadow Brother Sunday, I expected to come back to them with lots of behind-the-scenes shots from the point of view of a filmmaker in the middle of the festival circus.
When I got my rolls developed, I found that almost all my photos were of the people in my life who had come out to celebrate the film (and a few they took of me).

Some canceled TV series get a second chance at life on another network or streaming platform, but The Winchesters is not so lucky. The Supernatural spin-off was one of the series The CW canceled in May as part of the broadcast network’s new focus on unscripted shows and cheaper scripted fare. Deadline reported at the time that Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind The Winchesters, was planning “aggressive” efforts to find the show a new home. Matt Miller/The CW Jensen Ackles, a star of Supernatural star and an executive producer of The Winchesters, also launched a #SaveTheWinchesters campaign on social media. “Looks like we’ve got some work to do,” Ackles wrote on Twitter on May 11, kicking off the campaign with a tweet that got over 20,000 likes and 1.7 million views. Alas, Deadline reported on Friday, June 2, that Warner Bros. Television exhausted every possible option to resurrect the show elsewhere.

Most Nintendo games aren’t known for their stellar voice acting (or even have voice acting), so when one features voice-acted cutscenes, it’s usually a big deal. But while Nintendo is still getting used to producing titles with vocal performances, at least the company knows how to properly cast the roles themselves.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the first time a Zelda game featured good voice acting. And when Nintendo announced a sequel, audiences hoped it would live up to that legacy. From what we’ve seen so far, Tears of the Kingdom’s most prominent characters won’t be recast, and some new faces will join them, one of whom is arguably the best casting choice we’ve seen in a long time.

Once upon a time, in ye olde 1996, people didn't really take their phones everywhere with them. In fact, if you had a cellular phone, it was a massive brick without a screen, more like a glorified walkie-talkie than a real phone. There was a cellular network in place, but technology for the phones just wasn't totally there yet. Then along came Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, who developed the first smartphone, the BlackBerry, and forever changed how we communicate. The story behind the BlackBerry is just as interesting and full of colorful characters as "The Social Network" and that film's take on Facebook and creator Mark Zuckerberg, and now audiences will finally get a chance to know that tale.
"BlackBerry," starring Jay Baruchel as the tech-oriented and more sheepish Lazaridis and Glenn Howerton as cutthroat businessman Balsillie, will tell the story with comedic flair, based on Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff...

Ramón Rodriguez brings a quirky and different point of view to his latest role in ABC’s Will Trent. The show has been a hit with audiences partly due to Rodriguez’s unique and lovable take on the character. In a recent interview, the actor explained what drew him to the series saying he connected with the “heart” of Will Trent.
‘Will Trent’ follows a former foster kid turned agent with a unique perspective on life
Will Trent is the newest kid on ABC’s block. Based on Karin Slaughter’s novel series of the same name, Will Trent follows the title character who grew up in the foster care system after being abandoned by his parents as a child. Writer/director Shal Ngo’s dystopian coming-of-age thriller The Park was clearly made on a low budget, but it also looks like the kind of film that could earn a solid cult following once XYZ Films gives it a VOD release in North America on March 2nd. To see if this post-apocalyptic story about kids going to war with each other is the sort of movie you’d like to check out, take a look at the trailer embedded above.
Set in a world without adults, The Park is “a tale of apocalyptic adventure and survival set within a long-abandoned amusement park”. Here’s the synopsis: When a mysterious virus starts killing all adults, society is left to be governed by children living on borrowed time. After the adult population is wiped out, rival kids battle for control of an abandoned theme park. Danger lurks around every corner, and they...

After breaking into NASA to make his last movie, “Operation Avalanche,” one would think that “BlackBerry” — a film that, on paper, sounds like a standard book adaptation about a Canadian boom-and-bust story — would be a walk in the park for Matt Johnson.
For anyone else, it might have been. But short-cuts don’t compute for the Toronto-based helmer. His outright rejection of Hollywood’s camera tricks in place of a wild do-it-yourself approach has made him one of the most radical new voices emerging from Canada.
In “BlackBerry,” which world premieres on Friday, Johnson tackles the story of one of Canada’s greatest modern inventions, the BlackBerry mobile phone — tracing its spectacular ascent into a global phenomenon that brought email to users’ fingertips, to its tragic downfall in the wake of corporate mismanagement and the dawn of Apple’s iPhone.
“It’s an odd couple, that’s for sure,” Johnson admits.
