Think Tank: Fun with Ptsd #1
Written by Matt Hawkins
Art by Rahsan Ekedal
Published by Top Cow Productions
Despite the title, Think Tank does not take Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder lightly
At the end of Think Tank: Fun with Ptsd, writer Matt Hawkins takes a moment to discuss the subject of this one-shot, post-traumatic stress disorder. From the outset he explains, “Despite the title, I am Not making fun of Ptsd. I think if you read the story first you’ll know that, but I just want to make that extra clear. I consider it an important problem of our time, and something that will hopefully be fixable with our advances in brain research, nanotechnology, and neurochemistry.” This is followed by an in-depth discourse on what Ptsd is, how it can be treated, and the myths and misconceptions surrounding the disorder. Again, all of this comes after the main...

It's a hard life being a genius, at least for David Loren. Things don't get any easier in Issue #10 of Matt Hawkins and Rahsan Ekedal's current run on Think Tank, and that's mostly thanks to the other men in black, the CIA. Catch the 7 page preview of Think Tank #10 down below, and make sure to check out the full issue when it hits stands next Wednesday.

Brace yourselves. This list of the Top 100 Greatest Gay Movies is probably going to generate some howls of protest thanks to a rather major upset in the rankings. Frankly, one that surprised the hell out of us here at AfterElton.
But before we get to that, an introduction. A few weeks ago we asked AfterElton readers to submit up to ten of their favorite films by write-in vote. We conducted a similar poll several years ago, but a lot has happened culturally since then, and a number of worthy movies of gay interest have been released. We wanted to see how your list of favorites had changed.
We also wanted to expand our list to 100 from the top 50 we had done previously. We figured there were finally enough quality gay films to justify the expansion. And we wanted to break out gay documentaries onto their own list (You'll find the...

Press Release:
Image Comics and Minotaur Press, an imprint of Top Cow Productions, proudly announce the newest addition to their critically acclaimed line: Think Tank. From the creative minds of Matt Hawkins (Lady Pendragon, Pilot Season: The Test) and Rahsan Ekedal (Echoes, Solomon Kane), Think Tank #1 blends taut action with the actual science of today.
Child prodigy, inventor, genius, slacker… mass murderer. These are all ways to describe the brilliant Dr. David Loren. When a military think tank’s smartest scientist decides he can no longer stomach creating weapons of destruction, will he be able to think his way out of his dilemma or find himself subject to the machinations of smaller men?
Debuting in August, Think Tank is a four-issue science action thriller that will appeal to fans of other hit Image series like Manhattan Projects and The Activity.

Jc Calciano‘s Is It Just Me? (top); Nicole Conn‘s Elena Undone (middle); Roberto Moreira‘s Paulista (bottom) Jc Calciano‘s Is It Just Me?, Anna Margarita Albelo‘s Hooters!, Roberto Moreira‘s Paulista, and Nicole Conn‘s Elena Undone are some of the films screening at Outfest 2010 on Friday, July 16. Is It Just Me? is a West Hollywood-set romantic comedy that borrows plot elements from Cyrano de Bergerac: Blaine (Nicholas Downs) falls in love with Xander (David Loren) after chatting with him online. The glitch is that the profile picture Blaine saw was that of Xander’s hunky roommate Cameron (Adam Huss). Hooters! is a documentary about the making of Cheryl Dunye‘s The Owls, screened last weekend at Outfest. In Paulista, an actress (Sílvia Lourenço), a lawyer (Maria Clara Spinelli), and an author (Fábio Herford) look for love in the streets of bustling São Paulo. Elena Undone...

HollywoodNews.com: If you’ve never been on a date to the Ford Ampitheatre during Outfest, I’ve got the perfect occasion for you: the screening of the sweet romantic comedy Is It Just Me? which screens at the Ford on Saturday, July 16.
It’s always fun to pack a picnic and some wine and show up an hour or so early and eat on the grounds. It’s a really lovely time.
Is It Just Me? is written and directed by Jc Calciano who I met a few weeks back. He has put together a very appealing cast for this movie about a writer named Blaine (Nicholas Downs) who is running very low on self- confidence in the guy department.
He meets Xander (David Loren) first at a coffee house then online and they click. But his hunky roomie Cameron’s (Adam Huss) photo appears on...

I met Mr. J.C. Calciano during the 2010 Palm Springs International Film Festival, where his film, "Is It Just Me?" had its world premiere. "Is It Just Me?" was put under the banners of the John Schlesinger Award and World Cinema Now -- celebrating diversity in humanistic storytelling. Not bad for a first-time filmmaker!
While Calciano is making his feature debut, he's hardly a newbie in the business. He earned an associate producer credit for 1996's "Mission Impossible," as well as running the new media division of Melanie Griffith's One World Networks, and being the former head of production for Tom Cruise's C/W Productions at Paramount Pictures. (Check his IMDb page right here, and an in-depth interview with him right here)
I'm so glad that Calciano shared his film with me. Inundated with watching blockbuster films, seeing "Is It Just Me?" was a treat. The film tells the...
