The stars will have a place to dance after Sunday night’s SAG Awards.
People will host the show’s official post-awards celebration as the Dotdash Meredith publication returns for a 25th year. The afterparty will take place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, the same hotel that is hosting the SAG Awards. As part of the party collaboration, People will make a “significant grant” to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s emergency assistance programs, which helps performing artists facing life-threatening illness and severe economic hardship.
Per People editor-in-chief Wendy Naugle: “It’s an honor to celebrate the incredible actors and the outstanding performances that have moved and changed us. We are also proud to support the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, helping artists both in tough times, like during the pandemic, and exciting times, like when they first embark on their careers. We want artists to have opportunities for years to come.

HBO Max’s premiere event last month for its new romantic anthology series “Love Life” had all the trappings of a typical Hollywood launch fete: The show’s executive producers, along with star Anna Kendrick, opened the festivities with a few words. After screening two episodes, guests were whisked to the after-party, where DJ Michelle Pesce spun tunes in one room as attendees sipped Manhattans and chatted with fellow guests.
But these are stay-at-home coronavirus pandemic times, and the “Love Life” event didn’t take place in person. Participants were sitting at home, watching and joining in via their laptops — along with hundreds of fellow remote guests.
“We really wanted to create these virtual events that allow people to have similar connections and feelings that they would if they were at one of our in-person parties,” says Jori Arancio, exec VP of communications for HBO Max, TNT, TBS and TruTV.

Did HBO Max just provide a preview of what we can expect in the upcoming Oscar campaign awards season (if there is one)?
Last night I attended my first virtual world premiere. The occasion was created online for HBO Max’s upcoming series Love Life, starring Anna Kendrick in an anthology series that features a different protagonist each season revolving around weekly episodes with a new love interest each time. In what may be a harbinger of some of the pandemic-created changes we will see cross over to movie awards season, was this a successful attempt to create the feeling of a real Hollywood or New York premiere at a time when people are not allowed to party or walk physical red carpets, much less sit in a theater together, as would be the normal case for an event like this? HBO has always been a big proponent of holding theatrical-style premieres for their shows,...

Note: This Party Report does not contain any spoilers of “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2. If you haven’t yet seen season one, beware.
When we last saw Elisabeth Moss’ Offred in the final shot of “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 1, she was loading herself into a prisoner transport van, as the opening riffs of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” swelled and the door slammed shut.
