As news emerges that Netflix is planning to reboot the Teletubbies this November, narrated by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘s Tituss Burgess, there have been mixed reactions. Some are pleased to see this ’90s favourite of kids’ TV – which has attained cult status over the years – returning once again, while others still find the show too creepy and psychedelic.
Regardless of how you feel about this children’s TV classic, the Teletubbies have certainly provided us with some weird moments over the years. Let’s activate our antennae and take a look at our tummy screens as we relive these surreal Teletubbies appearances “again, again!”

Exclusive: Producers Kenn Viselman (Teletubbies) and Brooklyn Weaver (Extant) have acquired all the rights for the western hemisphere of animated series Moonzy & Moona. This includes all mediums of the pre-existing IP which spans the rights to develop original films, series, books, NFTs and merchandising.
The deal comes at a time when the Cyprus-originated Moonzy & Moona is entwined in the crosshairs of Vladimir Putin’s war because its animation studio is based in Moscow, and several of its key animators in the Ukraine. Viselman and Weaver’s deal for the IP extends also to Australia, Asia and several countries in Europe.
Further compounding the matter, the multi-Oscar nominated filmmaker Konstantin Bronzit, who is also the director of the Moonzy & Moona series, has signed a scathing anti-war petition along with over a thousand top Russian entertainment figures associated with the Russian Animation Film Association, all of whom were reportedly deemed enemies of the state by Putin.

At the very least, give producer Kenn Viselman some credit for his grip on reality. "You don’t have to be delicate," he says, inviting honesty about his recent failure in the same way a sickly person might joke about his or her own illness to break the tension around cautious friends. "Don’t worry. I’m just giving you permission, you don’t have to worry about the politics of it." And so, here is the blunt truth: Viselman's kiddie film, The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, had one of the worst opening weekends of all time last September, opening to

Let me be upfront: I haven’t seen The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure yet. Of course, you probably haven’t either, as it just had the worst opening weekend in box office history.
But I sort of want to. Somehow, the film earning that dubious distinction has unleashed an alarming obsession within me for all things Oogieloves in the last 24 hours. I mean, have you Seen Oogieloves.com?! The sheer Wtf factor of this strange, strange franchise is utterly intoxicating. And Oogieloves filmmaker Kenn Viselman seems to indicate that this might be exactly what he was hoping for.

Normally when Zap2it reports the weekend box office numbers, we start at the top. But when a movie has one of the worst performances in history, we sort of have to start there.
Say hello to "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure," which according to studio estimates just had the sorriest opening weekend for a widely released movie (2,000-plus theaters) ever.
The kids' movie, which cost a reported $50 million $60 million to produce and market, made a paltry $448,131 over the weekend. It played in 2,160 theaters, meaning it had a per-screen average of just $207, getting in under the extremely low bar of the 2008 bomb "Delgo," which averaged $237 per screen on its opening weekend.
"The Oogieloves" is the creation of Kenn Viselman, a marketing executive who brought "The Teletubbies" and "Thomas the Tank Engine" to America. The movie's hook is that it's interactive, so kids can sing and dance along. With...

More over, "Delgo": With $448,000 earned this weekend from 2,160 theaters, "Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure" is now the lowest grossing wide release of all time.
The interactive kids' film -- which features cameos from Chazz Palmentieri, Christopher Lloyd and Cloris Leachman, the latter of whom said she only made the film for the "money" -- averaged just $207 per theater, the lowest ever for an opening on 2,000 or more theaters.
"Oogieloves" comes from the mind of Kenn Viselman, who Americanized "The Teletubbies" and "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends." As previously reported by the reported the Sacramento Bee, the film "features visual and auditory cues which invite the audience to 'move' the action along, allowing parents and kids to interact not only with the characters, but also with one another."
The $448,000 for "Oogieloves" takes the flop "Delgo" out of the record books. That animated film came out in 2008, one year before "Avatar,...

After its inauspicious opening Wednesday, when the bizarre kiddie flick The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure earned a shockingly low $47 average at each theater, it looked like it could be headed for the worst opening weekend of all time for a film playing in over 2,000 theaters.
Well, it happened.
According to studio estimates, the colorful toddler-targeting entry, which is being distributed by Kenn Viselman Presents (Viselman formerly found massive success as producer of The Teletubbies), earned a truly awful $448,131 from 2,160 theaters in its debut three-day weekend.

As Summer 2012 officially comes to an end over Labor Day weekend, it looks like the box office draught is likely to continue. The only movie with real breakout potential is Lionsgate's supernatural thriller The Possession, though it's lacking the Christian iconography or found-footage style that tend to drive the most successful entries in this genre. Lawless and Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure already opened on Wednesday and showed their limitations: Lawless should wind up somewhere between $13 and $15 million by Monday, while Oogieloves will be lucky to crack $2 million. Finally, 2016 Obama's America is expanding again following an excellent weekend, though it's unlikely that it winds up near the top of the box office.Produced by horror maestro Sam Raimi, The Possession was originally scheduled for Halloween 2011 with the title Dibbuk Box before eventually getting a more generic title and a bump all the way to the final weekend of August...

The long Labor Day weekend will see Brave and The Avengers dramatically up their theater counts at the North American box office in an end-of-summer push. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted also is increasing its presence -- which, combined with Brave, will make life difficult for the independently distributed kids pic The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure.

Who knew a movie aimed directly at children could be such a huge box-office bust? Unfortunately, that's the situation "The Oogieloves and the Big Balloon Adventure" finds itself in after hitting theaters this week. Opening in 1,500 cinemas on Wednesday, "Oogieloves" ended up taking in an unbelievably horrid $60,000 in ticket sales, this according to Erc Box Office. That puts the per-theater average take for the movie at a miserable $40. As Huffington Post Entertainment points out, if the numbers hold, "Oogieloves" would end up with the worst wide-release opening weekend ever. What did "Oogieloves" do to keep all the little boys and girls from coming out to the theater? Perhaps it was the bulbous-headed creatures or the thought of Christopher Lloyd doing the cha-cha? Either way, perhaps we should've known: When we sat down with "Oogieloves" star (and acting legend) Cloris Leachman earlier this week, she didn't seem all that excited to talk about the film.

"The Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure" is not like ordinary movies. Aimed strictly at children ages 3-5, the newly released kids' film from Kenn Viselman, the man who brought "The Teletubbies" and "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" to American audiences, is an interactive experience.
"Oogieloves" -- which includes cameos from stars like Chazz Palmentieri, Christopher Lloyd and Cloris Leachman -- "features visual and auditory cues which invite the audience to 'move' the action along, allowing parents and kids to interact not only with the characters, but also with one another," reported the Sacramento Bee. The problem? So few people attended "Oogieloves" on opening day that audience members were likely talking to themselves.

When producer Kenn Viselman pitched an interactive G-rated movie that would have three to five-year old children dancing and singing in the aisles, movie studio executives "dismissed" his idea as a crazy concept. Now Ken Viselaman may have the last laugh as his independently-produced and distributed film The Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure hits theaters this week.
Ken Viselman made a name for himself marketing "Thomas the Tank Engine" to a pre-school audience. He went on to work on the Teletubbies and eventually started writing and producing his own series such as "It's Itsy Bitsy Time," and "NiNi's Treehouse." During a press event in Los Angeles, Viselman told press of his own adventures bringing The Oogieloves to the screen. On Wednesday, "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure" opens in theaters nationwide. The brainchild of Kenn Viselman, the man behind the Americanization of popular children's programs "Teletubbies" and "Thomas & Friends," the movie features bulbous-headed creatures, an interactive component that encourages children to sing and dance, and Chazz Palminteri. Also starring in "Oogieloves" is certifiable acting legend Cloris Leachman, best known for her roles in classics like "Young Frankenstein" and "The Last Picture Show." Moviefone spoke with a very candid (and carefree) Leachman about being a part of the "Oogieloves" project, whether or not movies like this expand her already considerable fan base, and what it was like working with both Mel Brooks and Peter Bogdanovich. How did you get involved with the project? I never know the answer to that. I just get a call. Did you want to do it for a specific reason? Well, I get to...

It would seem an unlikely brew, a combination of the Teletubbies, Tyler Perry's Madea movies and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but if all goes according to plan, it could mean big changes for family programming. Kenn Viselman, the man who brought the aforementioned multi-colored British plushies and Thomas the Tank Engine to American television, is betting that his new movie series will force all producers to change the way they make and exhibit family entertainment. Titled The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, the movie will feature big, costumed characters not dissimilar to the Teletubbies in an interactive theater
