Yet again, a new title has claimed the top spot of the box-office weekend as Bad Boys: Ride or Die debuted a whopping $46 million ahead of its nearest competition.
In its first weekend of release, Bad Boys: Ride or Die brought in $56.0 million for Sony Pictures Releasing, easily capturing the number one spot of the box-office weekend top ten. This was enough to relegate last weekend’s top film, The Garfield Movie, to a distant second place where it made $10.0 million for Sony Pictures Releasing, lifting its two-week total to $68.6 million. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures saw If drop to third place where it took in $8.0 million over the weekend, giving the film a four-week total of $93.5 million. The second debut of the weekend, Warner Bros.’ The Watchers, landed in fourth place where it grossed $7.0 million for the studio. Falling a spot to finish in fifth this weekend was Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes...

Ezra attempts to navigate the delicate landscape of autism through a blend of drama and comedy that sometimes veers into overly sentimental territory. Masterfully directed by Tony Goldwyn, the film draws its strength from an ensemble cast who bring remarkable depth and humanity to their roles. A personal lens on autism Central to the charm of Ezra is William Fitzgerald‘s portrayal of the titular character. Fitzgerald, who is on the autism spectrum himself, adds an unparalleled authenticity to his role. As noted, On the autism spectrum himself, Fitzgerald is given room by Goldwyn and his perfectly in sync ensemble to…...

After the successful first season of ‘Ahsoka,’ the studio wasted no time in renewing the show for a second season. In January, it was officially confirmed that Dave Filoni was working on Season 2.
Notably, one of the highlights from the initial season was Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker, providing fans with a delightful dose of nostalgia.
Now according to the latest reports, Hayden will reprise his role in season 2 but he will apparently have a much greater role. The news comes from notable scooper and leaker MyTimeToShineHello.

Following the first season of ‘Ahsoka’ which was relatively successful, it didn’t take long for the studio to renew the show for the season. Back in January, it was confirmed that Filoni was developing season 2 of the show.
One of the best parts of the first season was naturally the fact that Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, giving a highly-welcomed dose of nostalgia.

Few big new studio wide releases, yes, but Viggo Mortensen’s latest is on 700 screens, plus limited openings for Chris Wilcha’s Flipside, Judd Apatow EP, and Spanish animated, Oscar-nominated Robot Dreams from Neon. Bleecker Street’s family drama Ezra and IFC Films’ arthouse slasher In A Violent Nature are technically wide but both well under 1,500 screens.
Viggo Mortensen directed, wrote and stars in Western The Dead Don’t Hurt presented by Shout! Studios on 730 screens. The story of star-crossed lovers on the western U.S. frontier in the 1860s sees Vivienne Le Coudy (Vicky Krieps), a fiercely independent woman, settle in Nevada with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen (Mortensen). But the outbreak of the Civil War separates them as Olsen goes to fight with the Union army, leaving Vivienne alone in a town full of corrupt officials. Premiered in Toronto, see Deadline review. It’s Mortensen’s second outing behind the camera since 2020’s Falling.

Plot: A combative stand-up comedian (Bobby Cannavale) in a messy custody battle kidnaps his autistic son to keep him from being heavily medicated and placed in a special school.
Review: Tony Goldwyn’s Ezra is a warm-hearted father-son tale that tries to depict the challenges of raising an autistic child in an authentic way. The film was written by Tony Spiridakis, who has an autistic son of his own, while William Fitzgerald, who plays the title role, is on the spectrum. It’s realistic with some terrific performances from the ensemble cast, including Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Goldwyn himself, and Robert DeNiro (in a meatier role than usual).
The film is a great showcase for Cannavale, who’s pretty convincing as a somewhat confrontational comic who mines his own fractured personal life for material. In it, his character, Max, is reeling from a bitter divorce from his wife, Jenna (Rose...

Robert De Niro — who made a surprise campaign appearance for Joe Biden outside of Donald Trump’s trial just two days before today’s guilty verdicts in the hush-money case — reacted to the news by saying “justice was served.”
While promoting his new movie Ezra on Thursday in New York City, the actor told Variety how “this never should have gotten to this stage. I don’t want to be talking, but I am so upset by it. I have to say something. This is my country. This guy wants to destroy it. Period. He’s crazy.”
A jury in New York City on Thursday found the former president guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of a conspiracy to keep a potential sex scandal from derailing his first presidential campaign. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, just days before the start of the Republican National Convention.

The momentous 100th episode of All American not only commemorates a milestone but also provides ample reflections on its journey. Daniel Ezra, who stars as Spencer James, took the directorial reins for this episode, and his connection with the material leaps off the screen. Ezra’s deep admiration for showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll is palpable. Nk is my big sister, she’s my mentor. I don’t think we would’ve made it to 100 episodes without her. The intricate narratives she weaves add layers of complexity to seemingly straightforward plotlines. Daniel Ezra as Director Stepping away from his familiar role as Spencer James,...

A sweet and gracious and often painfully labored dramedy about a stand-up comic who struggles to connect with his autistic 11-year-old son, Tony Goldwyn’s “Ezra” rides an emotional honesty that’s almost completely undone by the sweaty contrivances of its plotting. But this modest little movie’s refusal to be limited by its “problem” — its insistence that stories involving neurodiverse characters can, should, and must touch on a wider range of human experience if they hope to ring true — feels like a step in the right direction for how such people are depicted on screen and seen in the world. It’s an approach that’s sure to resonate with anyone whose kid is on the spectrum, their autism just one ingredient in the endlessly complex soup of who they are and how they’re raised.
It’s also an approach, “Ezra” suggests, that requires a hard-won degree of finesse.

Let’s start here: watching Bobby Cannavale and Robert De Niro argue on a New York City street while cars angrily beep their horns is electric. Truly exhilarating to watch. Likewise, watching the great Rose Byrne manage multiple emotions on her face is tantamount to listening to Yo-Yo Ma play cello. Ezra, written by Tony Spiridakis and directed by Tony Goldwyn, tells the story of a separated couple’s attempt to raise their autistic son. Max (Cannavale) is a struggling stand-up comedian; his ex, Jenna (Rose Byrne), is trying to keep it all together and not doing well. Their son, Ezra (William A. Fitzgerald), is causing disturbances at his school. Soon he’s forced to go to a specialized school with other “special” kids. Max cannot allow this; neither can his temper. It’s all for Jenna and her lawyer boyfriend (Goldwyn) to do to keep Max from beating up the whole world.

Sometimes, one of the shrewdest things a movie can do is to have its hero act in a way that’s not heroic or admirable or even very likable. In “Ezra,” Max Bernal (Bobby Cannavale), a stand-up comedian with a chip on his shoulder (he used to write for late night; now he performs edgy sets in places like the Comedy Cellar), is in a state of confused fury over what to do about his son, Ezra (William A. Fitzgerald), an owlish 11-year-old who’s autistic. Ezra attends public school in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he acts out, gets bullied, and responds to people on his own brainy but disconnected wavelength. His autistic behaviors aren’t particularly severe. He speaks in arcane pop-culture quotes, he’s scared that metal silverware will hurt his mouth, and he refuses to look you in the eye or allow himself to be hugged.

Tony Goldwyn might be more known for his work as an actor, but he’s also prolific as a director, having helmed a few feature films and several TV episodes. Although his latest effort in the director’s chair, the family dramedy Ezra, does suffer from some of its more conventional and melodramatic elements, it’s successful enough in its approach to be a likable, if forgettable, crowd-pleaser.
The movie follows a comedian who sets out on a life-changing road trip with his autistic son after facing decisions that could change both of their futures forever. It doesn’t reinvent the road movie subgenre, but it sets out to deliver a heartwarming and funny family dramedy, and it mostly succeeds in doing so.

On a wall in the top corner of Nkechi Okoro Carroll’s office hangs a photo from THR‘s 2018 Women in Entertainment issue. Over the last few years, there have been some major shifts in the way those on the autism spectrum are understood. Conditions like autism have been reframed as an asset rather than a disability, due largely to conversations happening in spaces like TikTok. There has even been a vernacular reconfiguration, with the terms neurotypical and neurodivergent coming into wider acceptance as the more inclusive and less historically loaded categorizations.
As with basically all discourse, these positive developments have occasionally fueled actions with bad intent—like neurotypical people self-diagnosing as neurodivergent, essentially for purposes of clout. Enter Tony Goldwyn’s Ezra, which sees itself as a kind of rebuke to films like Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close for at least nominally wrestling with the notion of whether we should raise children to be as normative as possible or fully embrace their divergences.

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is now in session, but there’s one teacher you shouldn’t expect to see roaming the halls — Ezra Fitz.
The Max reboot’s first season ended with Imogen (Bailee Madison) revealing that her baby was being adopted by a lovely couple from nearby Rosewood, specifically Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) from the original Pretty Little Liars. It was an exciting Easter egg for longtime fans of the franchise, one that promised a permanent connection between the two shows.

Billy Baker is back — somehow.
Taye Diggs will guest star in the May 20 of the CW’s “All American,” on which he played Billy Baker until the character died in Season 5. It it not yet known how exactly Billy will be incorporated into the episode, which will mark the eighth of the season.
Season 6 of the sports drama, which premiered on April 1 and has released six episodes so far, has followed the remaining “All American” characters as they reel from losing Billy. His son Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) struggles with the pressure of their new NFL draft eligibility while their sister Olivia (Samantha Logan) returns from London to L.A. with hopes to honor Billy’s legacy and their mother Laura (Monét Mazur) finds herself in a new stage of life both personally and as a lawyer.
“All American” is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios in association with Berlanti Productions.

Things are looking a lot less pretty and a little more dangerous for the liars in the season premiere of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.
Picking up right where things left off, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School Season 1 Episode 1 starts with four murders within the first five minutes.
Aptly titled "Loose Ends," that's exactly what's taken care of. If the trend continues like a Scream movie, audiences may see each new season commence with a kill scene.
Sheriff Beasley, Chip, Madame Giry, Steve, and the drug dealer to Noa's mom all met a grizzly end right at the start, wiping the slate clean for a new killer to cut some fresh flesh.
On top of everything the girls went through, now they have to spend their summer attending school or otherwise face repeating the 10th grade. A fate worse than death.
The girls also seem to each have...

This article contains spoilers for the TV series Pretty Little Liars.
Several characters took on the villainous mantle of ‘A’ across Pretty Little Liars’ seven seasons. Some were the true masterminds behind the plans for the Liars’ downfall, while others served as minions on the ‘A’ Team, there to do ‘A’s’ bidding and keep tabs on what the Liars were up to. Not every ‘A’ or member of the ‘A’ Team is equal though, with some being significantly more terrifying than others.
Here’s every person who was officially part of the ‘A’ conspiracy ranked by general scariness as blackmailers, stalkers, and criminal masterminds and by how satisfying their reveal was in the series.
13. Lucas Gottesman, Melissa Hastings
Lucas (Brendan Robinson) and Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) are tied for last place because both really only joined the ‘A’ team because they were being blackmailed themselves. Lucas does work with Mona...

Prior to Manne’s comment, it was known that at least four of the wrongful death cases had already been settled.

Exclusive: This is a rare occurrence in the current strike-impacted broadcast season — a scripted series getting an order for additional episodes. According to sources, the CW’s flagship drama All American is having its current sixth season extended from 13 episode to 15 episodes.
All American’s first five seasons have ranged between 16-20 episodes. With the series picking up just over a year after the end of Season 5, there is a lot of unpack, and the extra episodes would allow to better flesh out the story and build toward a satisfying conclusion.
It also would allow fans to stay in the current world longer as All American‘s characters are preparing for major life changes, with series protagonist Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and potentially Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) headed to the NFL draft.

A second season of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi was first announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, and fans have since been eager to see which characters this season’s installments would be about. Would we see more stories from Ahsoka and Count Dooku, or different characters entirely? Nearly a year after it was first announced, we have a first look at the new season, now named Tales of the Empire.
Tales of the Empire will focus on the stories of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka’s Lady Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) and, to the delight of many, former Jedi Padawan Barriss Offee (Meredith Salenger), who was last seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

[This story contains spoilers from the season six premiere of All American, “Things Done Changed.”]
After nearly a yearlong gap since its season five finale, All American made its season six premiere on The CW on Monday night.
The sports drama that is centered around football player Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) — which has followed the star wide receiver and his friends from his days at Crenshaw High up through his freshman year at the fictitious Golden Angeles University last season — will mark 100 episodes on May 27. It’s a milestone Ezra says came as a shock to him, like many others in the series.
“When I was cast, that was a surprise. When the pilot got picked up, that was a surprise. I didn’t expect any of it,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It took me two seasons to give up my apartment in London. I just thought, ‘They’re going to send me back.’”

Hasbro recently made several announcements regarding Disney-owned properties. While it’s not surprising to see new Star Wars Black Series and Marvel Legends figures come to market, it was surprising that the company would continue with some other retro-inspired lines.
Toy Biz had a shakey start in the late 1980s with a lackluster Batman ’89 toy line but eventually gained its stride with an excellent X-Men action figure series. Hasbro has been reviving the old ToyBiz style of packaging and IPs, one of which is the Fox Kids Iron Man animated series.
I was pretty sure this line was going to be discontinued. It was impossible to find, and aside from the proton cannon set that lets you recreate Iron Man’s Marvel Vs Capcom ultimate attack, it felt underwhelming.

Screenwriter Tony Spiridakis wasn’t familiar with the Museum of the Moving Image’s Marvels of Media Festival — which celebrates the work of mediamakers with autism — before penning his star-studded film Ezra, about parenting a child on the spectrum. But he quickly became a supporter after MoM founder and former AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan reached out.
“[The festival] understands the power of empathy and the undeniable beauty of diversity,” says Spiridakis, who now sits on its advisory board alongside Ezra director Tony Goldwyn. “It shows the unfiltered, authentic expression that comes from the unique perspectives of autistic mediamakers, something Hollywood and all artists can benefit from.”
Marvels of Media, taking place until tomorrow in Queens, joins the ReelAbilities Film Festival, which runs April 3 through 10, and is hosting Ezra’s New York premiere on opening night. Both of the film festivals are dedicated to disabled filmmakers and narratives showcasing characters with a disability.

“Welcome home.”
Those were the two words that All American star Bre-z used to describe the CW series’ upcoming sixth season. New episodes are right around the corner, with the Season 6 premiere set for April 1, and audiences will pick up with the characters more than a year after they last saw them.
Season 5 ended on a bit of tumultuous note for many of the characters. Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) were finally able to reconnect just as Liv was leaving to spend what everyone thought would be three months in London for an internship. Turns out, it was a bit longer than that.
Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) proposed to Layla (Greta Onieogou). Asher (Cody Christian) began preparing to have a baby. Patience (Chelsea Tavares) was stabbed outside the Baker home, unaware that Coop (Bre-z) was on her way there to confess she still had feelings she wanted to explore.
