Harrison Ford, who made headlines in 1977 for his portrayal of the likable smuggler Han Solo in George Lucas’ blockbuster space opera Star Wars, is recognized for having brought to life a number of iconic genre figures. His appearances in movies such as Blade Runner, Witness, and the Indiana Jones film series have helped him become popular among both seasoned and novice viewers.
Ford selects roles that resonate with his genuine interests, ensuring that any potential sequel bearing his mark not only promises a continuation of a story but also the promise of a character. For example, his return to the neo-noir universe as Rick Deckard in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 (2017) was no accident; it was the result of a script that spoke to him, a narrative that provided a familiar setting for the fan-favorite character.

Kal Penn admits he didn’t know much about Anna Nicole Smith’s physician, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, before he was approached to star as the doctor in the indie adaptation of his memoir, “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.”

Zack Snyder has been a busy boy since his guardianship of the DC movie universe came to an end following principal photography on "Justice League." Though he eventually returned to finish his version of that film, the multi-hyphenate filmmaker has since settled in firmly at Netflix and is focusing on original stories rather than pre-existing franchises. Among these projects is "Twilight of the Gods," a 2D animated action series based on Norse mythology.
The project marks another return to Snyder's filmmaking roots. He made his feature directorial debut in 2004 with the very well-received remake of George Romero's "Dawn of the Dead," and his first project for Netflix was the Las Vegas-set undead action horror "Army of the Dead." Snyder's second feature-length film debuted back in 2006 and secured his status as a rising talent to watch: the epic historical war movie "300," inspired by the legendary Battle of Thermopylae. David Lowery released one of the most acclaimed films of 2021 with “The Green Knight,” a gorgeous adaptation of Sir Gawain’s tale in Arthurian legend. Now, Lowery has returned to his version of Camelot with “Oak Thorn & The Old Rose of Love,” a short film exclusively made for the original film’s collector’s edition Blu-ray.
The 20-minute film stars Jackie Earle Haley and Sylvia Hoeks as the two main characters, entities possessing great knowledge who begin to share their learnings with one another. Although the story has no explicit ties to the original “Green Knight,” which starred Dev Patel as Gawain, the film is set in the same beautifully rendered version of Camelot seen in Lowery’s original film and is based on an Arthurian tale.

Following The Green Knight, David Lowery spent the pandemic crafting another Disney reimagining, after directing the only worthwhile one yet, Pete’s Dragon. Ahead of the release of Peter Pan & Wendy next year, the director has now returned to the world of The Green Knight with a new short film, titled Oak Thorn & The Old Rose of Love. Recently a surprise world premiere at Film Festival Gent, it’ll now be featured on an upcoming disc release from A24, and will never see an official online release.
The 20-minute short, which stars Jackie Earle Haley and Sylvia Hoeks and was shot this summer, also takes its inspiration from Arthurian literature. “It’s not directly related [to The Green Knight], but it is based on another piece of Arthurian lore, so there’s definitely a connection,” Lowery told Collider. Kristen Stewart To Direct Scott Free’s Adaptation Of ‘The Chronology Of Water’ Starring Imogen Poots
Exclusive: After making her short-film directorial debut with Scott Free, Kristen Stewart is set to reunite with the banner for her feature directorial debut as she is set to direct The Chronology of Water, with Imogen Poots set to star. Stewart also will co-adapt the script with Andy Mingo, which is based on the memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch.
A Reader’s Choice Award winner at the 2012 Oregon Book Awards and finalist for the Pen Center USA Creative Nonfiction Award, the memoir is a lyrical journey through a life saved by art. A young woman finds her voice through the written word and her salvation as a swimmer – ultimately becoming a triumphant teacher, mother and a singular modern writer. A survivor’s story and a sexually abrasive and honest coming of age, the film is a physical memory wash of Yuknavitch’s inner life.

Writer/director David Lowery’s fantasy adventure film The Green Knight (watch it Here) is getting a special collector’s edition Blu-ray release on November 25th, and the folks at Collider have discovered that this Blu-ray is going to feature a new short film that was directed by Lowery! Sporting a running time of 20 minutes, the short film The Oak Thorn & The Old Rose of Love isn’t directly related to The Green Knight, but is connected to it due to the fact that it’s “based on another piece of Arthurian lore”.
Lowery told Collider, “I’d already been thinking about adapting this particular story, and as we were coming up with ways to make the Blu-ray extra special, I thought it would be nice to have an adjunct movie on the disc. I love physical media, and loved the idea of having this short film that would never be released online,...

Despite the egregious snubbing of David Lowery's "The Green Knight" during last year's Academy Awards ceremony, real ones know that the film was one of the very best of 2021. The epic medieval fantasy film from A24 based on the 14th-century poem "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," saw Dev Patel as King Arthur's nephew Gawain, who sets out on the ultimate journey to test his bravery and come face-to-face with the titular Green Knight.
The film is about to receive a special Blu-ray collector's edition (not to be confused with the 2021 Blu-ray release) next month, and according to our friends over at Collider, one of the included special features will be a 20-minute companion short film from Lowery called "The Oak Thorn & The Old Rose of Love." The short film will loosely connect to "The Green Knight," focusing on two characters that share knowledge in "unconventional ways."

We are in the final season of the Apple TV+ original series See, starring Jason Momoa, and in the last episode of the show, “I See You,” co-stars Hera Hilmar and Sylvia Hoeks have a heartfelt moment as sisters. Maghra Kane and the mad Queen Kane embrace each other after a tumultuous couple of seasons between the two, but it is only Maghra who speaks and the Queen that reacts. “You’re still the sister I’ve loved my whole life. Who braided my hair and made puppets for me. Brought me into her bed when it thundered,” she says in the TV Insider exclusive clip above. “My sister, who sang me to sleep the night mother died. Never losing patience, never once letting go of my hand.” The “mad queen” begins to cry as Maghra begins to sing to her. Soon after, she joins her sister in the lullaby.

Are you ready to say goodbye to See?
The hit Apple TV+ drama wraps up its run later this month.
Before we get to that, we have See Season 3 Episode 7, which brings plenty of conflict to the surface.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive first look at the installment that will surely switch things up.
Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) and Kofun (Archie Madekwe) get into quite the war of words in the clip as they both come to terms with the big changes.
It certainly leaves us with many questions as we head into the episode.
As previously reported, See Season 3 will conclude the Jason Moma drama.
"Almost a year has passed since Baba Voss (Momoa) defeated his nemesis brother Edo and bid farewell to his family to live remotely in the forest," the official logline reads.
