It's always a dicey proposition when a well-known filmmaker "presents" a film they didn't necessarily produce or direct. Usually the "presents" designation is something that occurs long after a film is done, and the producers are able to call in a favor (or throw a few bucks) to someone whose name has a certain degree of film geek credibility. Think of "Quentin Tarantino Presents," for a good example, or perhaps "Wes Craven Presents" for the not-so-good examples. (Nothing against Mr. Craven; I simply prefer the films he actually directs, not "presents.")
Now we can add Joe Dante (director of Piranha, The Howling, Gremlins, The Hole, and many other great flicks) to the list of cool filmmakers who now "present" films that aren't exactly up to their own directorial standards. For some odd reason (possibly because it features his old pal Robert Picardo), Joe Dante Presents Trail of Blood, and let's...

Trail Of Blood may be presented by Joe Dante – who is attached as a producer – but it is written and directed by Joseph and Justin Guerrieri, marking the duo’s feature directorial debut.
The story follows Jim Lerner, a young U.S. Marine, and his six friends as they go on a weekend camping trip. Deep in the woods they stumble upon, of all things, the mutilated corpses of another vacationing couple. They then meet the “Angel of Death” – really just a disturbed war veteran – who mistakes them for the killers, takes them hostage, and forces them into a series of traumatizing mind games that push them to, and possibly over, the edge.
The official website claims “Their maddening fight for survival will uncover the darkest parts of humanity and leave you breathless,” but you can watch the trailer – a montage of guns, knives, blood and one-liners – and be the judge of that yourself…...
