If I’ve learned anything from Trick ‘r Treat, it’s that you don’t disrespect Halloween. “I hate Halloween,” says Emma (Leslie Bibb) in the opening scene. She blows out the lone jack o’lantern and whines to her husband Henry (Tahmoh Penikett) about taking down the decorations on Halloween night. Moments later, she gets her comeuppance and becomes bloody and artsy décor on the front lawn. Her head is chopped off and her limbs hung with rope in the trees, a pumpkin lollipop shoved into her gaping mouth. Sam might be tiny, but he suffers no fools when it comes to the beloved holiday. It’s a gnarly image that drives home the film’s central theme: Halloween is sacred and should be treated as such.

The Twitter page for Trick 'r Treat teases us with this: "Sam Will return..." The original 2007 movie was Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband. It starred Quinn Lord as Sam (Peeping Tommy) with: Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Lauren Lee Smith, Moneca Delain, Tahmoh Penikett, Brett Kelly, Britt McKillip, Isabelle Deluce, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Alberto Ghisi, Samm Todd, Anna Paquin, Brian Cox and Leslie Bibb. LEEE777 - I really enjoyed the first one and remember them saying they wanted to do one annually, but that never happened, so fingers crossed.

Warner Brothers apparently had no idea what a rare and wonderful cash cow it had acquired in Trick r' Treat, and made the totally bone-headed decision of releasing this stellar movie straight to DVD instead of giving it what would have been a smashingly lucrative theatrical release supplanting tired warhorse Saw this Halloween season. Not that Hollywood is known for understanding or respecting thriller/horror material and its fans, but their throwaway treatment of Trick 'r Treat is shockingly dumb even for them...
To add insult to injury, they've printed a woefully inadequate amount of DVDs to supply the awesome word of mouth, to the point that it's difficult to find a copy to buy or rent anywhere except in Blu-ray.
