The 80s and 90s were a great time for character actors. Guys like Gene Hackman, Brian Dennehy, Christopher Walken, John Lithgow, Morgan Freeman and many others occupied this really interesting place where they could lead their own movies and be just as comfortable playing supporting roles – whether large or small – in bigger films without worrying about things legit movie stars have to, such as bankability. Of that era, one of the biggest character actors was no doubt the fast-talking James Woods. In the eighties, his star rose thanks to movies like Videodrome, Salvador, True Believer and many others. While he never became a legit box office superstar, he was in that niche place where he could lead his own movies, such as the underrated Best Seller, while also playing plum supporting roles in movies like Chaplin, The Specialist and Casino. He was noted as one of the town’s biggest scene-stealers,...

Big Ed Brown and Liz Woods [Image @thisisbiged/Instagram]
It seems 90 Day Fiancé star Big Ed Brown has lost his appetite for taco pasta since the fight over the dish caused his split from Liz Woods.
While the dish sounds terrible to us – it shouldn’t be legal to combine Mexican food with Italian – apparently, it’s delicious, but Ed just isn’t eating it anymore. Now Liz has moved over to a new love, she is clearly happy, which probably upsets Brown, despite the fact he broke it off with her.

In an appearance on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, 90 Day Fiancé star Big Ed Brown opened up a little about his split from Liz Woods. While taco pasta was one of his favorite dishes, he hasn’t eaten it since his fight with his former fiancée Liz Woods over that dish.

Earlier today, we were sad to hear that veteran character actor Louis Gossett Jr had passed away at 87. While we have to get used to the fact that our favorite actors are all human, and like all of us, eventually pass away, it can’t help but hurt anytime we lose a legend like this. But he leaves behind a rich legacy, so let’s look back at five of his coolest roles.
An Officer and a Gentleman:
Louis Gossett Jr. won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in this, and next to R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket, he’s likely the guy everyone pictures when they think of a drill sergeant. While folks usually think of this as a romance due to stars Richard Gere and Debra Winger and the famous Joe Cocker song, “Up Where We Belong,” the R-rated movie is a lot harder than you remember.

“The show is obviously a love story which I think people expect, but it’s also about loss and life and how you spend your days and your time and the people with whom you do that,” reflects Ryan Vasquez about the new musical “The Notebook,” which just opened on Broadway at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 14. The actor stars as Middle Noah, a character he originated in the tryout of the show in Chicago in 2022. He calls that production “an experiment” because the show touched “such an open nerve” when it premiered right in the wake of the pandemic. Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“The Notebook” is adapted from the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, which also inspired a successful film 20 years ago. Vasquez shares that he actually “saw the movie in theaters way back in 2004,” explaining that he was a “huge fan of Rachel McAdams,...

It's a testament to Disney's branding that mainstream audiences don't necessarily know who directed or starred in some of their better-known movies. Although many have seen the studio's 1950 animated feature "Cinderella," most audiences wouldn't be able to tell you that Ilene Woods played the title character, or that Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, and Clyde Geronimi directed the film. Disney's "Aladdin" changed that with the casting of Robin Williams as the Genie. And the trend of hiring known screen celebrities, often not voice actors, to sell an animated feature to a broad audience went to a whole other level in the wake of DreamWorks' "Shrek." The advent of the internet also helped certain actresses become known among Disney fans. Nowadays, many adults know the names of the actresses who played characters like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Ariel the Mermaid.

Tiger Woods’ ex-girlfriend, Erica Herman, has dropped her sexual assault lawsuit against the pro golfer as well as an appeal on a non-disclosure agreement she had signed.
The notice filed in Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal said she “was never a victim of sexual harassment or sexual abuse at the hands of Tiger Woods or any of his agents, and it’s her position that she never asserted a claim or such.”
Herman signed an NDA with Woods in 2017, but she later sued to be released from the agreement.
In May, a judge ruled that she could not be released from the NDA.
Circuit Judge Elizabeth Metzger wrote that Herman’s reasoning for being released from the agreement lacked factual specificity for any claim relating to sexual assault or sexual harassment.

Ahead of the film's release on November 10, 2023, Marvel Studios debuted the final trailer for "The Marvels," the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Nia DaCosta and featuring Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, the final trailer premiered during a peak moment of Monday Night Football, indicating that Marvel is really trying to get as many eyes on this new film as possible.
If the release plan wasn't an indicator, the new trailer certainly was, as it features multiple clips from previous MCU movies, including those featuring Thanos, and Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. Honestly? That's a hell of a good marketing plan, and should hopefully inspire some excitement. After all, as Carol Danvers rightfully points out in the trailer, "I'm invincible." And it's high time that people start recognizing her placement in the superhero canon. But...

This post contains spoilers for season 1 of "Gen V."
Since "Gen V" premiered, it became amply clear that there was something nefarious about The Woods, which seemed like an open secret among the adults occupying the ranks in Vought. As for the young adults, the weight of the truth was too much to bear: Luke/Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) ended up dying by suicide due to the trauma of being mentally toyed with, while his brother Sam (Asa Germann) is currently unable to escape radical indoctrination despite being free. The others — Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor/David Luh), Cate (Maddie Philips), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) — wrestle their inner demons over the course of the episodes, trying to help uncover the unsavory secrets that lie beneath Godolkin. Until one of them goes rogue.

After going through a rather predictable narrative structure of Vought International cover-ups, Gen V finally enters the political intrigue between humans and supers in the seventh episode titled Sick, and the excitement of series fans is surely going to be sky high. No sooner had the cerebral trip inside Cate’s mind ended in the previous episode, than the viewers were introduced to the Supes crisis from a new perspective, one that can easily reshape The Boys universe itself.
As a spin-off series, Gen V is closely interconnected with The Boys, a connection which was explored over the course of six episodes. But the most significant link between the two series has been established with the penultimate episode, with Indira Shetty’s backstory and Congresswoman Victoria Neuman’s possible role, which not only puts Vought in a critical juncture but also has the potential to destabilize the political system of The Boys universe.

[This story contains spoilers for Loki season two, episode three, “1893.”]
When Loki executive producer Kevin R. Wright began to assemble his creative team for the hit Disney+ series’ second season, he knew that production designer Kasra Farahani was an absolute necessity.
Before crafting the series’ signature look in seasons one and two, Farahani climbed the ranks of Marvel Studios as an art director and a concept artist on various MCU projects such as Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Black Panther. He’d even done some writing and directing in between Marvel gigs, so Wright first invited him to join Eric Martin’s writers’ room as a staff writer. That additional role on the show eventually led to a third assignment as director of season two’s third episode, “1893,” which allowed Farahani to design the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago and introduce this season’s highly anticipated Kang variant, Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors...

From the moment it premiered, "The Boys" was a fantastic satire of superhero stories, a show that pulled back the curtain and interrogated the genre and all its shortcomings while still delivering a fantastic and thrilling superhero story in its own right. Indeed, what makes the show work, like any great satire, is that it still functions as the very thing it is satirizing, which is why it was always inevitable that — like the Marvel and DC universes it mocked with impunity — "The Boys" would eventually grow into a cinematic universe with spin-offs and the like. First, there was "The Boys Presents: Diabolical," an animated anthology that connects to the live-action show, and now we have the upcoming college-set spin-of "Gen V."
So far, the footage of "Gen V" promises a blood-soaked story that fits right in with the world of "The Boys," and a story full of mystery and intrigue.

Armand Hammer “Woke Up and Asked Siri How I’m Gonna Die,” as one does. Find out what she said in the Jpegmafia-produced track below.
The experimental track begins with a collage of sounds, from sampled audio about the joys of “Jpegs” to calming, reverb-heavy vocalizations. It takes about a minute for billy woods and Elucid to begin rapping, and soon enough, the hallucinatory track fades out.
Despite its brief nature, billy woods spoke highly of “Woke Up and Asked Siri How I’m Gonna Die,” the second single from the upcoming album We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, in a statement. “I think that every project I worked on, you are kinda waiting to make your first track that is more than the sum of its parts,” he said. “Because some tracks have a dope verse and a really good beat and a great hook, and the song is really dope and that’s cool.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Justified: City Primeval” Episode 7, “The Smoking Gun.”]
Before handing over the long sought-after murder weapon, Trennell (Joseph Anthony Byrd) asks Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) a simple question: “You sure you can use it?” Can Raylan take this gun, a gun that could’ve saved Sweety (Vondie Curtis Hall) on more than one occasion, and use it to, if not avenge his death, then bring his killer to justice? Raylan says he can. He’s sure he can. Except, by the end of Episode 7, “The Smoking Gun,” that firearm isn’t locked up in an evidence locker or even held by law enforcement. It’s at the bottom of a river. And how it got there neatly sums up Raylan’s continued frustrations with the maddening depths of a labyrinthine Detroit legal system.
Of course, the most straightforward use comes and goes the quickest. Raylan turns the gun over to Maureen Downey (Marin Ireland), as he should,...

On Friday, Elon Musk appeared to announce plans to remove the block feature from X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. A number of users responded, including conservative actor James Woods, who said he would likely leave the platform entirely if the feature is taken away. Musk was quick to fire back at Woods’ claim and tweeted back, “Then delete your account.”

Woods defended his position, replying to one X user that he believes removing the block feature will make Musk’s X no different from “Jack Dorsey’s horrid Twitter.”
He continued, “Musk, whom I once championed, is only doing this to protect his advertisers anyway. Users of X are mere pawns to turn the site into an electronic shopping mall. The man I thought was a defender of free speech is just another greedy capitalist. Disappointing, but not surprising.”
This is a huge mistake.

Jamila Woods is back with “Boomerang,” the second single from her upcoming album Water Made Us. Check out the track below.
“I think you really wanna dance with me,” Woods sings in her new song. With snappy percussion and thumping bass, she’s right: “Boomerang” will make even the most stoic of listeners nod their heads along to its rosy melody.
“I co-wrote this song with Nao, Grades, and George Moore on a sweet London day last year,” the singer said of the track. “It was amazing to work with Nao and meet her longtime collaborators and feel the synergy that they have together. It’s a song about that kind of relationship that keeps popping back up throughout your life, that magnetic attachment you have to someone and the excitement and anxiety that comes with wondering ‘will we or won’t we?'”

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? couple Ed “Big Ed” Brown and Liz Woods have certainly had an up-and-down relationship, having gone through at least 11 breakups. But the pair might have finally found a solution to their problems. Brown and Woods are one of the couples participating in TLC‘s new spin-off series 90 Day: The Last Resort, which follows several of the franchise’s couples taking part in a couples therapy retreat in an attempt to fix their relationships. “Instead of watching us destroy ourselves, they actually brought in therapist help,” Brown told E! News. “For me, I’m really happy.” The pair didn’t reveal exactly how things went in the new series, but they hinted that all was well. “I’m still wearing a ring,” Woods noted, with Brown adding, “I don’t have a ring yet.” Brown and Woods previously called off their engagement during Happily Ever After?...

Whether you're a golf fan or not, we're willing to hedge a bet that you - like most people - can agree that pro-golfer and dad of two Tiger Woods is a household name. As of 2023, Woods is tied for first with Sam Snead for PGA Tour wins among all golfers and has also been the face of prominent athletic brands like Nike in the past. While Woods is known for holding numerous records and is regarded as one of the best golfers in the history of the sport, not every fan might be up to date on his family life. While married to his ex-wife, supermodel Elin Nordegren, between 2004 and 2010, they welcomed two children: Sam and Charlie.
Woods and Nordegren split in 2010, but Woods later said he wanted to be honest with his kids about what happened. "I've taken the initiative with the kids, and told them up front,...

L.A.-via-Chicago rap poet Fatimah Nayeema Warner took off with her 2015 mixtape Telefone and her 2018 album Room 25, with a rude-girl wit all her own. As she famously boasted, “My pussy wrote a thesis on colonialism.” It’s been a long wait, but Sundial is exactly what you were praying the new Noname album would be—eloquent, furious, funny, cerebral, bristling with rage and revenge. Warner’s got a voice you can’t mistake for anyone else. And yes, she definitely showed up in a mood to talk some shit.

Disney has adapted its theme park attractions into movies several times, and with varying degrees of success. Everyone remembers "Pirates of the Caribbean," but the "Country Bears" movie from 2002 left a significantly smaller cultural footprint. Same with "The Haunted Mansion," the Eddie Murphy comedy from 2003. Now Disney is coming back for a second bite at the apple with the slightly differently titled "Haunted Mansion," written by Katie Dippold ("Parks and Recreation") and directed by Justin Simien ("Dear White People"), in an attempt to capitalize on the familiarity of the brand while capturing what makes that attraction so special.
But what exactly does make that Disney staple so special? If you polled theme park fans, none of them would blink if you called it the greatest theme park ride of all time. And if you asked Disney Imagineers -- the folks who actually design and build Disney theme park attractions -- why it's so special,...

How great was “The Afterparty?” Chris Miller’s Apple comedy in which murder suspects retell one fateful night in multiple genres became a breakout hit in 2022, renewed for an unexpected yet welcome second season. The new installment premieres Wednesday with two episodes that introduce a new cast, murder, and genres — not quite as exceptional as Season 1, but still enjoyable.

Woods have announced their new album Perennial, due September 15th on Woodsist, with the dual debut singles, “Between the Past” and “White Winter Melody.”
Recorded in the same Stinson Beach, California studio that yielded 2020’s Strange to Explain and produced by bandmates Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere, Perennial was partially inspired by Earl’s realization that “perennial plants and flowers are nature’s loops.” Along with Earl, Taveniere, and long-time members John Andrews and Kyle Forester, the album also features pedal steel work from Connor Gallaher. Pre-orders are ongoing.
Perennial boasts 11 tracks, led by the first two singles “Between the Past” and “White Winter Melody.” The paired release highlights the band’s mix of folk psychedelia and vocals-free constructions, with “White Winter Melody” representing one of the album’s four completely instrumental tracks. Stream both songs below.

Chloe East, one of the breakouts of Steven Spielberg’s latest feature The Fabelmans, is in talks for A24’s new thriller Heretic from A Quiet Place creatives Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
Beck and Woods wrote and will direct the movie that follows two Mormon missionaries who attempt to convert a man that turns out to be far more dangerous than they could have anticipated. Hugh Grant is also in talks for the feature.
The A24 project is eying a July start date but, as with any films shooting this summer, production can be affected by the possible SAG-AFTRA strike. Earlier this week, members overwhelmingly voted to authorize a potential strike should a new contract not be reached by the June 30 deadline.

In the wake of A Quiet Place and 65, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have set up their next project, with Deadline announcing the A24 horror movie Heretic this afternoon.
Beck and Woods wrote the screenplay and they’re also directing the film.
Additionally, Hugh Grant (D&d: Honor Among Thieves) is in talks to star. Update: THR now reports that Chloe East (The Fabelmans) is also in talks to star.
Deadline reports…
“Plot details are officially under wraps, but the film is rumored to center on two young women of faith who are lured into a cat-and-mouse game in the home of an eccentric man.”
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods wrote A Quiet Place with director John Krasinski, and they just wrote/directed the high concept Adam Driver dinosaur movie 65 earlier this year.
The duo also wrote/directed Haunt and wrote this year’s Stephen King film The Boogeyman.

65, the “Adam Driver vs. dinosaurs” movie from the writing and directing duo of Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, didn’t have great success at the box office, but Beck and Woods aren’t letting that disappointment slow them down. They’re about to go into production on a new horror project called Heretic, which is set up at A24 – and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Hugh Grant is in talks to star in the film!
Beck and Woods have written the script for the film. Details are scarce, but apparently the story has something to do with two missionaries that attempt to convert a dangerous man. There’s no word on who Grant would be playing this scenario, but it would be very cool to see him take on the role of the dangerous man. He has previously said that he finds villain roles to be “more fun” to play.

Ending two years of rancor and legal warfare, the PGA Tour has agreed to merge with Saudi-backed Liv Golf.
In a joint statement, the two organizations declared the stunning turn of events “a landmark agreement to unify the game of golf, on a global basis.” Technically, the pact that was announced is a framework for a deal, with a finalized version expected in the coming weeks.
The new spirit of comity represents a significant departure from the barbed exchanges between the parties in dueling antitrust lawsuits as well as players and fans on opposite sides of the split. The upstart Liv maintained that the well-entrenched PGA had engaged in anticompetitive practices by punishing its players, while PGA objected to Liv coming into its turf and poaching talent with hefty payouts.

Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman is about a man named Lester Billings, who visits a psychiatrist after his children have been killed by the title character. Director Rob Savage’s version of The Boogeyman, which is in theatres now, goes far beyond the story King wrote – but Lester Billings is in the movie, played by David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad). During an interview with Collider, Dastmalchian revealed that he initially turned down the offer to play Billings because he didn’t want to go as far into the darkness as the character required.
Dastmalchian said, “I read (the script) and I said, ‘Absolutely not. No interest in portraying Lester Billings. I don’t care to go there. I’ve done too much stuff in the darkness. I need a break, and I can’t do it.’ And then (producer Dan Cohen) is many things, a gifted producer, a wonderful human being,...

Vivien Lyra Blair played a child version of the iconic Star Wars character Princess Leia Organa in the six episode Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, and now she has a prominent role in the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman, which reaches theatres tomorrow, June 2nd. You shouldn’t expect to see Blair wielding a lightsaber in the film – but during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Rob Savage revealed that her character did carry a lightsaber around in the script… but Star Wars owners Disney didn’t want them to put a lightsaber in the movie.
Answering a question about the moon ball that Blair’s character actually has in the movie, Savage said, “It’s a real thing that you can buy from Amazon. So we bought a few of them, cracked them open and put a light inside that we could control and dial up and down. But the interesting thing about that,...

Watch out. “The Boogeyman” is here.
Based on the short story by Stephen King (originally published in a 1973 issue of Playboy competitor Cavalier and collected in King’s 1978 anthology “Night Shift”), the slender story was first adapted by “A Quiet Place” writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods in 2018 for 20th Century Fox.
When Disney acquired the company in 2019, development was canceled, only to be revived in late 2021. That’s when Akeela Cooper (“Malignant”) and Mark Heyman (“Black Swan”) also took a crack at the story and Rob Savage, who had made a splash during the pandemic with his low budget horror film “Host,” was brought on as director.
The resulting film is very different from the King story, following a young girl (“Yellowjackets” breakout Sophie Thatcher) and her family (including psychiatrist dad Chris Messina and younger sister Vivien Lyra Blair) as they death both with the recent death of their...

With the onset of movie streaming platforms you can get a bit nostalgic for the days of roaming around the video store searching for something to watch and a little element of added mystery as to what you were watching, as the internet had yet to take hold. For many of those of us who lived that era, our introduction to the world of Hong Kong Action cinema was the documentary “Cinema of Vengeance”. Among the many clips it showed (and made you want to find the film in question) was “Tiger Cage 2”. When I did indeed track down a copy of “Tiger Cage 2” in my local HMV, it had bestowed on it's cover an image of Donnie Yen wielding a sword and a swift purchase soon made. At this time, any new movie was an adventure and little was I to know that I was about to...
