An open letter condemning Jonathan Glazer’s Zone of Interest Oscars acceptance speech has been signed by more than 450 Jewish Hollywood professionals.
The group consists of actors, executives, directors, creators, producers and representatives denouncing Glazer’s controversial comments made when accepting the Academy Award for best international film on March 10.
“We refute our Jewishness being hijacked for the purpose of drawing a moral equivalence between a Nazi regime that sought to exterminate a race of people, and an Israeli nation that seeks to avert its own extermination,” the letter reads.
In his acceptance at the 2024 Oscars, Glazer read from a prepared speech to thank his partners and then make a statement addressing the current Israel-Gaza conflict.
“All our choices were made to reflect and confront us in the present, not to say, ‘Look what they did then’; rather, ‘what we do now,’” Glazer said. “Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst.

The Israeli spy thriller Tehran is the second TV series to be granted a waiver to continue filming amid the recently launched SAG-AFTRA strike.
As reported by our sister site Deadline, Tehran has about a week left to film on Season 3, in Israel. And whereas the Jesus drama The Chosen (now airing Stateside on The CW) scored its own waiver this week by being a truly independent, crowdfunded production not tied to any of the big, AMPTP companies, Tehran has ties to Apple, which streams the drama on Apple TV+.

Tehran, the Israeli spy thriller that airs globally on Apple TV+, has become one of the most high-profile TV series to land a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.
The series has been added to the list, which allows production to continue filming, despite the ongoing actors strike. See the updated full list below.
Other high-profile movies such as Dakton Fanning-fronted The Watchers and Sam Raimi-produced Don’t Move have also been granted waivers, as has hit faith series The Chosen.
It’s not entirely clear how Tehran has found itself on this list, given that AMPTP member Apple is involved but we hear it might have something to do with the series’ origins.
The series was created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn and is produced by Donna and Shula Productions, which was formed by Eden and Shula Spiegel. It initially aired on Israeli network Kan 11. Cineflix...

There’s a new showrunner set to preside over season two of Showtime’s Your Honor.
Joey Hartstone, who worked with exec producers Robert and Michelle King on season one of the series and is a veteran of The Good Fight, is taking over as showrunner. Peter Moffat (Criminal Justice) oversaw season one and departed for personal reasons. He next has season two of AMC’s 61st Street, which he co-created with J. David Shanks, set to premiere next year.
The legal drama starring Breaking Bad grad Bryan Cranston was originally picked up as a limited series and submitted in that category for Emmy consideration. After being shut out by the TV Academy, Showtime renewed the series for a second season featuring the same cast.
Season two will return to the premium cable network on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 9 p.m., with a streaming debut on Dec.

Exclusive: Allen Leech and India Mullen will lead the cast of an Irish drama series for AMC Networks’ Sundance Now and local broadcaster Virgin Media Television, we’ve learned.
The pair will topline six-part drama The Vanishing Triangle, which goes into production later this year with a U.S.-UK-Ireland production set-up, and Eccho Rights attached as international distributor. The show is inspired on true events that shook Ireland in the 1990s, when several women disappeared. While the characters and events in the series are fictional, the producers have spoken to several of the real life victims’ families, and hope the show will keep their stories in the Irish public’s mind. The show title is regularly used in the Irish media to refer to the events, which began with the disappearance of American woman Annie McCarrick in 1993 and spiraled to involve many similar cases.

Showtime’s Your Honor will end after its upcoming season, series star Bryan Cranston said today in an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. Filming on Season 2 has just started, with Joey Hartstone, who was a writer on Season 1, as new showrunner, Deadline has learned. Additionally, I hear Keith Machekanyanga, who recurred heavily as Lil Mo in the first installment, has been promoted to series regular for Season 2.
Your Honor originated as a limited series but, following its breakout ratings success, it was renewed for a 10-episode second season last year. Peter Moffat, who served as writer, executive producer and showrunner of the first season, opted not to return because he lives in the UK and wanted to stay close to family. David Manson was then brought on as showrunner, he subsequently also left and was succeeded by Hartstone this past spring.

Rome’s new concept Mia Market dedicated to international TV series, feature films, documentaries and more kicked off Wednesday in the Eternal City’s 17th century Palazzo Barberini with 1,700 registered industry execs – roughly 600 of whom have made the trek from abroad – and 350 new titles of various types, in development and production, on display.
At a press conference attended by Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini and all top Italian industry reps, organizers also boasted a 30% increase in completed films screening at the Mia film market where about 80 mostly European titles will be having their market – or, in some cases, even world – premieres.
While the Oct. 11-14 Mipcom market in Cannes is suffering a reduced presence, and the AFM this year has gone entirely online, Mia seems to be reaping the benefits of being conceived more congenially to how the global content industry is evolving.

In December, Showtime debuted Your Honor, a harrowing crime drama starring Bryan Cranston in a role that brought the actor his eighth Golden Globe nomination.
The 10-part series, executive produced by The Good Fight’s Robert and Michelle King and The Night Of’s Peter Moffat, centers on Michael Desiato (Cranston), a prominent New Orleans judge whose son Adam (Hunter Doohan) accidently kills another teenager in a hit-and-run collision.
When Desiato finds out what has happened, he immediately urges his son to turn himself into the police. He changes his mind, however, when he learns the victim of the hit-and-run was the son of local mob moss, Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg). The revelation leads him to dispose of evidence incriminating Adam. Naturally, the judge’s actions have tragic consequences.
