Hans Rodionoff, one of the writers of last two Lost Boys movies, is set to direct a classic monster movie based on the old Horrsoft game "Waxworks." Yep, it'll have all the classic monsters: Mummy, Frankenstein's monster, zombies... and we've got the full scoop on the project including poster art, full synopsis, confirmed cast and concept art.
First, here's the synopsis:
There is a failing wax museum in the French Quarter of New Orleans. No one visits, the halls are silent. Inside, the wax figures exchange empty, lifeless glances. The proprietor, Marcus Laveau, knows that he needs to do something to reinvigorate the museum before he’s forced to close the museum doors forever.
Across town, a group of Beta Testers welcomes the opportunity to take a break from the never-ending stream of first person shooters and brawlers to go and visit the wax museum. Their task is to walk through the museum,...

Cast: Shannon Elizabeth, Monica Keena, Bobbi Sue Luther, John F. Beach, Edward Furlong, Michael Copon, Diora Baird, Linnea Quigley
After spending most of the past decade cranking out awful horror remakes, it's reasonable to expect filmmakers to figure out what makes the original films such fan favorites. Yet, with one exception, studios keep mucking things up and the remake of Night of the Demons is no exception.
The film opens with a flashback to 1920's New Orleans, as a well dressed woman hangs herself off the balcony of the Broussard mansion, rather than be captured by a demon possessed gentleman. Perhaps hanging is too weak a term, as the rope appears to be woven out of piano wire and pops the poor lady's head clean off her shoulders. A bit over the top, but the physical effect is well executed and the flashback,...

Whoever thought that constantly remaking these cheesy '80s teen horror films, using a cast of thirty-something, D-List actors was is good idea, obviously has more optimism than creativity. This low-budget remake of Night of the Demons is a mess on so many levels, we can only wonder why someone wasted their whole weekend making this film. Assuming it took that long.
The original Night of the Demons was no masterpiece to begin with, although it had enough of a cult following to earn two awful sequels. Why we needed to revisit this unimaginative story is a bigger mystery than the motivations of the titular demons. If schlock-meister Adam Gierasch, the writer-director of this cinematic suppository, had managed to improve on the first film, then an argument could be made for the existence of this ridiculous retread. Alas, Gierasch only manages to turn '80s mediocrity into modern manure.

Night Of The Demons
Blu-ray | DVD
Directed by Adam Gierasch
Starring Edward Furlong, Shannon Elizabeth, Monica Keena, John F. Beach, Diora Baird, Michael Copon
Entertainment One
Release date: October 19, 2010
While today's horror filmmakers are either curbing the curse words for PG-13 teen-friendly flicks or increasing the realism for torture porn, Adam Gierasch brings us a fun, but spooky tale perfect for Halloween with his remake Night Of The Demons. This remake invokes the spirit of its predecessor -- the 1988 Kevin Tenney film of the same name -- by employing lots of blood and gore created mostly through practical effects. The two tales are similar in that party-goers unwittingly unleash a horde of demons on Halloween night, but the original film takes place in a mortuary where a séance releases the demons. Gierasch's version brings the Halloween party to modern-day New Orleans to a mansion with a mysterious past.

This week sees a ton of genre movies coming out on DVD and Blu- Ray. The biggest being Predators, followed up by the remake of the cult classic Night of the Demons, a sequel to Mirrors, and Anniversary editions for Rocky Horror Picture Show and Psycho. Add to that a slew of indie and classic horror and there is a lot to choose from.
Predators
Directed by Nimród Antal
Robert Rodriguez presents Predators, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe. Adrien Brody stars as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors mysteriously brought together on a jungle planet. But when these cold-blooded human “predators” find themselves in all-out war against a new breed of alien Predators, it’s the ultimate showdown between hunter and prey. Predators also star Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Oleg Taktarov, and Louis Ozawa Changchien.

The number of home video releases on October 19th is not as abundant as in recent weeks, and fewer re-released titles means those that are available are much more special. In this batch one Adrien Brody flick competes with another, and at least two independent horror titles are making a splash. Two beloved classic films return in Blu-ray where one is supplemented by a documentary treatment of it.
Also, don't forget to strum & drum out with some tunes from Rob Zombie on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Finally, foreign horror gives us an over-the-top Japanese gorefest, a British zombie flick where the $70 budget was spent on tea and biscuits for the zombies, and Norwegian black metal.

Looking for foul language and gratuitous violence this morning? Then look no further my friend because the red band trailer for Night of the Demons is now here. The film, a quasi-remake of the 1988 original and, seemingly the 1997 threequel (even looks like the same house), is written and directed by Adam Gierasch and stars Edward Furlong, Shannon Elizabeth, Monica Keena, and John F. Beach.
Take look at the trailer below and be warned, it does contain strong language:
Maddie Curtis and her friends Lilly and Suzanne are ready for a great Halloween night. Theyre going to a party thrown by their friend Angela at the notorious Broussard Mansion in New Orleans. Over eighty years ago, six people disappeared from the mansion without a trace and the owner, Evangeline Broussard, hung herself. The dark history only serves to enhance the Broussard Mansions appeal on Halloween. Quote whoring aside, this is how you sell Adam Gierasch's Night of the Demons ( exclusive set report ). That's the UK quad for the remake you see below. Still, the big question mark looming over the entire marketing campaign for this film is: Why the hell isn't it selling the chicks? John Beach takes the spotlight in this poster, but it's really Monica Keena who's the "final girl" so to speak. Regardless, it's far better than the weak sauce U.S. DVD cover art which has all the punch of a Martha Stewart Halloween party invite. The remake opens in the UK on September 17 and hits U.S. DVD on October 19.
