Exclusive: Tenderfoot TV, the podcast company behind series such as To Live and Die in LA and Up and Vanished, and Campside Media, the company behind the Chameleon podcast franchise, have closed a multi-show deal and announced their first slate. Their first two series, Radical and Cop City, are focused on stories from Atlanta, Ga, and intersect social justice, true crime and journalism.
Investigative documentary podcast Radical, distributed by iHeartPodcasts, premieres December 5. It tells the story of Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, a Muslim leader who was convicted of shooting two sheriff’s deputies — one fatally —in 2000, outside a mosque in one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods. Prior to converting to Islam, Al-Amin was known as the Black Power activist H. Rap Brown, and was one of the most polarizing figures of the movement, gaining a reputation as a charismatic orator and passionate revolutionary. H. Rap Brown was an honorary officer in the Black Panther Party,...

Ventureland is teaming with podcast companies Campside Media and Tenderfoot TV on a new doc and companion podcast chronicling the fight around Atlanta’s “Cop City.”
The film will explore the politics, activism and turmoil that has surrounded the development of the 85-acre police and fire training center — set to be one of the largest facilities like it in the United States and located in a preserved forest — since it was announced by the city’s then-Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms back in Spring 2021. Currently in development, the doc will include on-the-ground reporting and key subjects who can shed light on the political flashpoint being constructed within the unofficial capital of the American South.
“The debate over Cop City is a microcosm of what’s happening in cities across the country,” says Campside co-founder Matthew Shaer. “It brings together all these different discussions: About race, about policing, about urban development and environmental resources.

The Podcast Academy, a group of 1,000-plus industry creators and executives, awarded Campside Media and Sony Music Entertainment’s Chameleon: Wild Boys with the top honor at this year’s 2023 Ambie Awards.
Wild Boys, which serves as the third season of Campside’s Chameleon series, uncovers the story of two young men who claimed to have been raised in the wilderness in British Columbia and proceeded to fool a small town. The eight-part series was led by Sam Mullins with producer Abukar Adan, senior producer Ashleyanne Krigbaum, editor Karen Duffin and ep Matthew Shaer.
“I had nothing happening in my career. I had two young kids, I was working in a taco restaurant, and I never made a podcast before. And Campside deserves so much credit because I cold-emailed these guys, and they just believed in the story, and they believed in me, and they changed my life, and I’ll never forget it,...
