The feeling and emotion a cinephile find within themselves when they witness a cinematic masterpiece unfold in front of their eyes is a magical, no scratch that, unfathomable ideal that is an exhilarating and unquestionable abstract thirst and can only be quenched with seeking out more exquisite forms of cinematic sensation. Steven Knight’s latest does not usher such ecstatic reactions. Quite the antithesis in fact. A film comparable to that of Wally Pfister’s twenty-fourteen film Transcendence that explodes on instant impact of release with a tremendous cast list utterly dissipated in what quite possibly may be one of the most diabolical ventures in film in the last two decades.

"Some weird stuff going on right now. This whole island's a part of it, but nobody knows it." Aviron has debuted a new official trailer for the mysterious thriller Serenity, along with announcing a release delay - from October this year until late January next year. Not to be confused with the sci-fi film, this Serenity is a film from British screenwriter/director Steven Knight and it's about a mysterious fishing boat captain, played by Matthew McConaughey. Described as a "daringly original, sexy, stylized thriller." The mysterious past of this fishing boat skipper living in the Caribbean comes back to haunt him, ensnaring his life in a new reality that may not be what it all seems. The full cast of Serenity includes Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane, Kenneth Fok, Robert Hobbs, and Rafael Sayegh. This trailer really over-sells and over-shares the story this time,...

"This is about temptation. There's right and wrong." Aviron Pictures has released the official trailer for a film titled Serenity, not to be confused with the sci-fi feature of the same name based on the "Firefly" TV series. This Serenity is the latest movie from British screenwriter/director Steven Knight and it's about a mysterious fishing boat captain, played by Matthew McConaughey. It's described as a "daringly original, sexy, stylized thriller." The mysterious past of this fishing boat skipper living in the Caribbean comes back to haunt him, ensnaring his life in a new reality that may not be what it all seems. The full cast of Serenity includes Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane, Kenneth Fok, Robert Hobbs, and Rafael Sayegh. This looks very surreal and dream-like, with some odd bloody moments hidden within. I'm very curious, though not sure what to make of it yet.

In a post-apocalyptic eternal drought, people kill for water. Where it is scarce and desperately needed, a farmer, Earnest Holm, defends his land from threat, and hopes to rejuvenate his parched soil in the hope of a better life for his family. However, his daughter’s boyfriend wants the land for himself, and will go to any length to get it.
The best way to describe Bad Land is… strange. Set in the futuristic, dried out plains of the USA, this film seems to walk the line between western and science fiction. Now, if you’re like me, when those two genres are combined your mind instantly goes to Firefly. This film isn’t Firefly,...

Idris Elba was pretty good in Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim”, even if 90% of the stuff they had him saying made me cringe. Then again, whenever someone opened their mouth in that movie, I cringed, but whatever. Point is, Elba still managed to be pretty good in it, and if he can polish that turd of a character, you can expect he’ll slay in a movie about something as important as Nelson Mandela’s life. Yes, I know, it’s obviously Oscar bait. But from the looks of this trailer, it’s deservedly so, and I think there’s something to be said about that. Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is based on South African President Nelson Mandela’s autobiography of the same name, which chronicles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country’s once segregated society.

It usually takes more than a week for a full-on trailer to follow up a film's teaser vid, but since yesterday was the 95th birthday of the unconquerable Nelson Mandela himself, The Weinstein Company decided to make an exception. And what a celebration it was.
In the biopic, Idris Elba stars as Nelson Mandela, the South African revolutionary who stood up against an oppressive, divisive government and spent 27 years in prison before being released and later chosen as the nation's first democratically-elected president.
Whereas the teaser for "Mandela" was decidedly optimistic and sort of all's-well-that-ends-well-ish with him romping around a meadow with happy children, this trailer for the Justin Chadwick-directed pic is much grittier and more consequential in nature.
Based on Mandela's own written autobiography of the same name, the film chronicles the Nobel Peace Prize winner's journey from a young village boy onto becoming one of the world's most revered leaders.

Thursday, July 18 was Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday, and though he’s recently suffered a serious health scare, the former president of South Africa is still with us. It also seems the right day for the Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom trailer, which features Idris Elba playing him. Promising to unspool the story of the man behind the leader we know today, Walk delves into his radical activist past, his frustration with the way South Africa was governed, the crippling apartheid and his own desire to simply see his children live in freedom.Elba has a tough job here – Nelson Mandela is one of the most recognisable figures in the world, and while much of the film appears to take place at a time when the wider world wasn’t awash in news coverage about the man as in his later years, audience preconceptions are inevitable and will need overcoming.

Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela? Sure, why not. I’m reasonably certain Idris Elba can play just about anyone and make it convincing. It’s all in the delivery, isn’t it? And in this first teaser trailer for “The Other Boleyn Girl” director Justin Chadwick’s “Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom”, it sure sounds like Elba has the delivery down pat. Of course this is just a teaser trailer and there isn’t much here, so it would be nice if we could see more. (And of course I’m assuming that’s actually Elba’s voice we’re hearing, reading something Mandela said, and not actually Mandela. I could be wrong, of course.) A chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa. Man, oh man, we're calling it now: Justin Chadwick's Nelson Mandela biopic, "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," is just going to own us all.
The first teaser trailer for The Weinstein Company's latest gut-wrencher is in, and as simple and obscure as it is — Idris Elba as the aging South African civil rights hero is shown walking along an open meadow pathway before a group of children start prancing around him — it's also effective at bringing on all the feels.
Mandela, the first democratically elected president of the post-apartheid nation who went onto win the Nobel Peace Prize after being imprisoned for 27 years, is well-known and frequently referenced for his many words of wisdom and bravery ... and this teaser nicely efforts to honor that.
The narrator declares, "I have walked a long walk to freedom. It has been a lonely road, and it is not over yet. No one...

A smart ass cars salesman nor a cute five year old fish girl could stop District 9 from obtaining the top spot this weekend. The Peter Jackson boosted low budget science fiction story managed to wrangle in about 37 million. Directed by Neil Blomkamp and starring Shartlo Copley, Jason Cope and Robert Hobbs, it showed that at least the heavy marketing (and two Comic-Con’s worth of it) is starting to pay off.
Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana’s love story, The Time Traveler’s Wife, seemed to bring in the appropriate age group demographic when it took in 19.2 million over this past weekend. Following the tale of Henry and Claire’s relationship that is constantly tested by Henry’s uncontrollable ability to time travel, the Robert Schwentke film looks like it will be able to take in the money it needs to in order to make a little bit of profit.

Director: Neill Blomkamp Writer(s): Neill Blomkamp, Terri Tatchell Starring: Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope, Robert Hobbs It's been nearly three decades since aliens first made contact with Earth and humans waited for either friendly technological exchange or a hostile attack. It was rather in the form of refugees that the aliens descended on South African soil as the final survivors of their home planet. The government created a makeshift area to contain and manage the alien beings called District 9. The worlds nations have held constant debate over what to do with the aliens, with extremes ranging from liberation to concentrated incarceration. The global patience of what to do with the alien population is coming to a boiling point, so the government contracts the private corporation Multi-National United (Mnu), to handle the welfare of the alien creatures. Mnu's interests fall elsewhere as they stand to make tremendous advances in...
