Children of the Corn is a new adaptation of Stephen King‘s novel, this time by Shudder and directed by Kurt Wimmer.
An adaptation shaped for the modern “sensibility” towards King’s novel, which raises philosophical questions about whether “any time in the past was better”.
I have never read such negative reviews about a film.

Could they have saved themselves the effort of making it? The answer is a resounding “yes”. It’s just another horror telefilm and which with this supposed regeneration of the tale – without covering any new ground – loses almost everything quitessential from the novel and destroys everything that the 1984 film had about it that was good.

The latest entry in the ever-growing canon of Stephen King screen adaptations is Children of the Corn, based on the horror legend’s 1977 short story of the same name. Rlje Films has today released its official trailer ahead of its theatrical premiere March 3rd.
Though Children of the Corn was already made famous thanks to the polarizing 1984 slasher flick, this new version by writer and director Kurt Wimmer is a “chilling new re-telling” of the story about a cult of children who aim to kill every adult in their small Nebraska town. While the main antagonist of the original story and the ’80s film was a nine-year-old boy named Isaac, the 2023 iteration focuses on the tween, pigtailed villain Eden (Kate Moyer).
“Prepare to witness the horrific rise of the next generation of evil,” narrates an eerie, gravelly voice at the beginning of the trailer, as we see vignettes of Eden’s blood-soaked malevolence.

Erika Heynatz and Rob Mills have been announced as cast members of the Australian stage version of Legally Blonde: The Musical. Model and former Australia's Next Top Model presenter Heynatz has landed the role of exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in the show, which will open at Sydney's Lyric Theatre in October this year. Heynatz told the Herald Sun that she "couldn't be happier to be singing and dancing for [her] supper". She added: "I thought I was going to spontaneously combust with excitement [when I won the role]. "This has been my longest-held professional desire and I'm ready to be saturated by it. I love the idea of having this regular cast of people who I feel will become my family." Young Talent Time host Mills, who previously took part in Australian Idol, (more)...

A number of Australian female celebrities have gathered in Sydney to vote for Cleo magazine's 'Bachelor of the Year'. Former Neighbours actress Stephanie McIntosh, model Erika Heynatz, former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Jesinta Campbell and radio star Maude Garrett glanced through a booklet of famous men and members of the public at the Otto in Wooloomooloo to try and decide who should make the top 50 in the competition. McIntosh, who is believed to be dating 'Bachelor of the Year' competitor and singer Rob Mills, took the opportunity to insist that they are "just friends", telling The Daily Telegraph: "He's a great guy and we hang out when we can." Alex Perry has hit back at reports that he discriminates against larger women. The Australian fashion designer, who caused controversy earlier this week when he referred to a size eight Australia's Next Top Model contestant as "overstuffed luggage", said that his comments were taken out of context and he was talking specifically about her modelling shot instead of her body shape. Perry told the Herald Sun: "Somehow everyone thinks I hate fat people... I have somehow become the new skinny ambassador. I can dress a big girl better than anybody. When we started fashion week, I have always used girls like Megan Gale and Erika Heynatz... who are tall and have always been curvy. "It was the fashion editors who were always saying, 'Uh, he is using those girls again', and not heroin chic, who they were using at the time." Perry reminded (more)...
