On July 24 the Streamy Awards announced their 13th annual nominations honoring the best achievements by online content creators and brands. Variety has named its 10 Comics to Watch for 2023. This year’s honorees will be profiled in a special comedy issue of Variety on July 19. They will then be honored at this year’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, held in Montreal July 14-29. There will be a panel and cocktail reception held on July 28, followed by a performance showcase July 29.
Variety has been presenting the 10 Comics to Watch list since 2000 and has included such names as Tiffany Haddish, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt and Quinta Brunson.
The list comprises stand-up comedians, writers and content creators selected by a panel that includes Variety editors and those in the comedy community that scout, book, cast and represent comics.

Sloan is a longtime correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show who will serve as a guest host for the series for a week beginning Monday, May 1. Additionally, she currently brings to life the character of Honeybee Shaw–Tobin in the Fox animated series, The Great North, alongside Will Forte and Jenny Slate.
She has appeared multiple times on the CNN New Year’s Eve Special with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, the late-night show Conan, among others. In his new role, Stewart will direct the firm’s top touring and digital clients. He will also head all touring initiatives and build out Talent X Entertainment’s upcoming convention appropriately referred to as TalentX Con.
