When The WB’s Felicity closed out its first season, fans were left to wonder all summer about which love interest Keri Russell’s title character had chosen to pursue.
And the show’s writers, it turns out, were just as clueless as the audience regarding Felicity’s momentous decision between Ben Covington (Scott Speedman) and Noel Crane (Scott Foley).

When writer Liz Tigelaar isn’t on set, in her Fox lot bungalow office or at the Venice home she shares with her wife, their 7-year-old son and two French bulldogs, she occasionally relaxes at (and, yes, works from) one of the tonier trailer parks on the planet: Malibu’s Paradise Cove. That’s where she’s shared a petite beach house with longtime friend and fellow TV producer Erica Messer (Criminal Minds) and her family for the past decade. “We joke that we remodeled it with the efficiency of two showrunners,” says Tigelaar. “It was just ‘Yep! Yep! Yep!’ … The quickest choices possible.”
Since creating her first series, The CW’s Life Unexpected, back in 2009, Connecticut native Tigelaar has become one of the most sought-after scribes in the adaptation business — shepherding spins on Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere, Cheryl Strayed’s Tiny Beautiful Things (out April 7 on Hulu...

The series finale of the CW‘s Dynasty aired on Friday, September 16, with the reboot saying goodbye after five seasons. But is it really the end? In an interview with Deadline following the series finale, showrunner Josh Reims reflected on Dynasty‘s popularity, thanks largely to Netflix, where the primetime soap has been streaming since its first season dropped in 2018. In fact, Dynasty has delivered impressive viewership on the streamer around the world, despite low ratings on its original network of The CW. “It’s funny because it’s the first show I’ve ever been on or where there was literally no discussion about the ratings ever, which was great,” Reims told Deadline. “In Season 2, we shot in Paris and some of the actors came back and said it was crazy because people showed up to the set and recognized them on the streets. It was then that we realized that internationally,...

Dynasty, the CW’s reboot of the beloved ABC sudser from the ’80s, came to an end Friday night after five seasons. Here, showrunner Josh Reims talks about what he really wanted to do in the last episode, and how odd it was that ratings for the sudser were never really discussed.
Deadline: Did you have enough time to plan for a series finale?
Josh Reims We actually planned a series finale and a season finale, just in case. We did twice the work, basically.
Did you know you wanted to end with the wedding?
Reims That came up near the end. For some reason we kept ending seasons with weddings and we thought it would be fun to do it again. We figured Culhane (Robert C. Riley) and Nina (Felisha Terrell) were the best couple to do it, and we liked the idea of playing around and having viewers...

There will be no Season 6 for the CW’s Dynasty. The CW has opted not to renew the reboot of the iconic 1980s soap, and it will end with the current fifth season.
Dynasty was considered among the most vulnerable CW series to snag a renewal. It was the victim of disappointing ratings and its previous renewals, along with 4400, had been motivated by the money the series generates for CBS Studios through the show’s Netflix deal.
Dynasty hails from Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, CBS Studios and Fake Empire. Schwartz and Savage teamed with Revenge writer-producer Sallie Patrick and the original series’ creators, husband-and-wife duo Esther Shapiro & Richard Shapiro, for a new modern-day reboot of the classic Aaron Spelling-produced ABC series.
Co-written by Schwartz & Savage and Patrick, Dynasty stars Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Daniella Alonso as Cristal Carrington, Elaine Hendrix as Alexis Carrington Colby,...

The Carringtons make a special appearance on Monday night as they head into Dynasty Season 5. Back-to-back episodes pick up from October’s shocking finale, when media mogul Fallon was gunned down by her evil assistant, Eva (Kara Royster). Now it’s touch and go at the hospital as Carrington patriarch Blake (Grant Show) waits by his daughter’s bedside. “We get some great moments where he talks about how proud he is of her and how he can’t lose her,” says showrunner Josh Reims. “It’s a vulnerable side of Blake that we never really see.” That cliffhanger and the plot by jealous brother-in-law Beto (Geovanni Gopradi) to assassinate Blake will soon be wrapped up “in one way or another,” Reims promises. In the Christmassy second hour, “we do things we don’t normally do,” Reims notes, but there’s still drama. Alexis (Elaine Hendrix) is set to spend the holidays behind bars,...

Eliza Bennett has been cast in the role of Amanda Carrington on The CW’s “Dynasty.”
Bennett joins Season 4 in a recurring guest star role, with her first episode being “The British Are Coming” on Aug. 27. She will be a series regular in the forthcoming fifth season.
The original 1980s primetime soap opera “Dynasty” featured Catherine Oxenberg in the role of Amanda for the first three years of the character’s existence. (Her apt entrance was in the fifth season episode titled “Amanda.”) Karen Cellini stepped in in recasting.
This version of Amanda is described as a long-lost Carrington relative who was born and raised in Europe but arrives now “holding a treasure trove of secrets” — both from her past, as well as the Carrington family’s past. She is also described as smart and confident, a character who can hold her own against those who come at her. She is a lawyer,...

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from Friday’s episode of Dynasty.
In the latest episode of The CW’s Dynasty, we finally learned who is being mourned at the funeral, which has been teased since the season premiere.
That would be Joseph Anders, the beloved majordomo of the Carrington family, played by Alan Dale.
According to TVLine, it was the beginning of the end for Anders when he suffered an injury to his ribs, while saving Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) and Liam (Adam Huber) from a pair of kidnappers.
The injury didn’t lead directly to the butler’s death. But while driving to the hospital to visit Cristal (Daniella Alonso), who has been undergoing treatments for a brain tumor, the resulting pain distracted him, causing him to crash his car.
Dale had been a series regular on Dynasty since it debuted in 2017. His final episode, “Go Rescue Someone Else,...

Exclusive: Seventeen years after Jerry Bruckheimer Television took its first major stab at multi-camera comedy series with a sale at CBS, the company is back on the multi-camera sitcom beat with another project in development at the network.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” reads the sign at the entrance to the massive Gemstone family compound. It goes on: “No trespassing.”
“The Righteous Gemstones,” the new HBO comedy debuting Aug. 18, depicts a family that’s as pious about other people’s fortunes as it is protective of its own. Led by patriarch John Goodman, this brood of megachurch preachers has grown rich off contributions from parishioners; the next generation of Gemstones indulge unholy appetites, happily secure in their inherited wealth and unconcerned with morality.

Freeform has closed a script-to-series deal for Party Girls, a half-hour, single-camera coming-of-age dramedy inspired by the true story of Ericka Suzanne, daughter of the first female leader of the Black Panther Party, Elaine Brown. The project hails from writer Dayna Lynne North (Insecure), Platform One Media, Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy Productions and Picture It Productions.
Set in Oakland in the 1970s, Party Girls follows Ericka’s attempt to survive her adolescence as her mother rises in the Party. The plot explores an unconventional mother-daughter relationship, balancing the stakes of the movement with the humor inherent in coming-of-age, and asking the question how do you rebel when your mom is leading a rebellion?
North will pen the script and serve as executive producer/showrunner should the project go to series, contingent on script approval. Elisa Ellis executive produces for Platform One Media, along with...

Well, it just got one step closer to becoming a reality. According to Deadline, the young-skewing network has ordered a pilot.
The official logline reads, "After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life."

The CW is moving forward with its in-the-works Roswell reboot, placing a pilot order for a new one-hour series set in the infamous UFO town. The pickup comes just days after the network commissioned a pilot for an update of another WB classic, Charmed.
All told, The CW ordered six new pilots on Wednesday. In addition to Roswell 2.0 — which is being penned by Originals scribe Carina Adly MacKenzie — the network gave the green light to an adaptation of the novel Skinny Dip, the mortuary-esque dramedy Playing Dead, and the alien thriller The End of the World as We Know It.
