Deal Or No Deal Island – Pictured: Joe Manganiello — (Photo by: Patrick Ecclesine/NBC) Deal or No Deal, of course, was a popular game show that was part of NBC’s primetime schedule for four seasons, from 2005 to 2009. Now, the show is returning, but with a twist: It’s been reconfigured as Deal or No Deal Island, and it features 13 contestants in a Survivor-like race to be the last one standing, then being able to choose a winning briefcase with what could be the biggest payout in the show’s history. Though original host Howie Mandel is once again involved as an executive producer, Joe Manganiello is hosting the show, and he talked about what viewers can expect. NBC’s adding a weird twist to its Deal or No Deal game show format with Deal or No Deal Island. True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello has been tapped to host the new series which is targeting a 2024 launch.
“The role of Deal or No Deal host has always been held by someone charming, hilarious and devastatingly handsome,” stated Corie Henson, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Content, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “When we took the show out of the studio and transported the game to the Banker’s island, Joe was the obvious choice. He loves all kinds of games, lives for adventure, and isn’t afraid to stare down a snake or two to help players win a life-changing payday and, hopefully, beat the Banker at his own game.”

USA’s Temptation Island Season 5 is here, and fans can’t wait to see if the four couples last after they meet and connect with the singles. Like all reality TV dating shows, the contestants have to follow rules. Here are the Temptation Island rules that fans never knew existed.
‘Temptation Island’ has rules for contestants regarding changing their hair
The Temptation Island Season 5 stars have to follow strict rules when it comes to changing their hair. While competitors are allowed to play around with their hairstyle, they can’t cut or dye their hair once they’re cast for the show.
“We like for them to have their hair the same color throughout shooting to maintain continuity,” showrunner Trifari Williams explained to USA.
When it comes to styling their hair, cast members can choose to either style it themselves or have hair and makeup artist Melissa D’ Angelo style it for them.

Fox has one of its better slates coming your way with the new season, especially if you take the midseason shows into account. Some of these shows may not jump out at you now as must-see, but some of them are going to take over, if I’m any judge anyway.
Clear showcase offerings Dads, Almost Human, and Us & Them are guaranteed to take off early. Almost Human has J.J. Abrams recognition to pull people in, though it looks to be a show that could flounder after a few episodes, even if I hope it doesn’t. The other two are going to become hits. Unfortunately, we have to wait until mid-season for the Gavin & Stacey remake.
Rake also looks like a winner, as long as the translation can be made to work as an Americanized product, and the show actually delivers what made the Australian original so brilliant.

It’s that time of year again, and the fall television schedule is another trip into the wild. This is going to be an interesting fall, in part because last season had so many big efforts that didn’t go anywhere. You can see the wake of that effort in the listings, more as a matter of the absence of similar series.
Let’s take a look at what’s coming, and figure out just how much is worth watching, if anything is worth setting into your DVR, and how much of the week is going to be available for the cable networks to grab hold of you.
Sunday
Sunday has always been a strange night in the line-up, and we now see further evidence of each network trying to create their own niche, and get a stranglehold on their chosen demographic. It’s now a night that has pretty...

Via Fox we have what are actually two sets of promo images for The Following, a midseason show starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. You may have heard about the show called The Mastermind being developed, well, this is it with a fresh new title. It’s still the same concept we told you about earlier though, brought to us by (most recently) the showrunner of CW’s The Vampire Diaries (not to mention writing Scream, and writing and creating/co-creating Dawson’s Creek, Secret Circle).

The Following is a serial killer hunt show that also features Justified’s Natalea Zea, Lost’S Maggie Grace, and Shawn Ashmore (from the X-Men films). The two batches of images featured include a character gallery of the cast as well as another group showing images of Bacon, Purefoy, and Ashmore from the show itself.

It’s that time of year, and the networks are revealing their schedules for fall. Fox is always an interesting network when it comes to the upfront season, because they usually don’t have a lot of changes, but they often have fascinating (if doomed) series on the horizon.
The full schedule is below, as are breakdowns of the specific shows, along with trailers, and I want to make sure to point out that they are likely to expire very soon, so you want to catch them while you can.
The really big news for fall is that Glee is moving. The not so big news is that mid-week primetime is still going to be taken over by reality shows. Good news, though not quite news at this point, is that fans of Bones and Fringe are going to get more of their favorite shows, despite the fact that both...

Last night’s 90210 finale ended with — what else? — a shocking twist, but what’s even more shocking are the changes coming to West Bev next season. (Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t seen the episode, do not read on!)
After a season of marijuana addictions (Ivy), Fatal Attraction-style cousins (Annie), and messy affairs (Navid, Silver, and Adrianna), season 3 of 90210 closed with Naomi’s shocking revelation to Max that she’s pregnant. For actress AnnaLynne McCord, who plays the spoiled Queen Bee, getting the season-clinching scene is something she’s used to. “Naomi’s always the last scene of the finale!

Have you ever dreamed of being a cast member on Glee? Well you'd better book your flight to either Dallas or Chicago right away. The producers of the hit Fox series have teamed up with Oxygen for an American Idol meets Grease: You're the One That I Want reality TV series. Starting in December, they are holding casting calls for a new talent competition show that will feature wanna-be Gleeks vying for a recurring role on season three of Glee.
Open auditions are being held in Chicago on December 18 and 19 and in Dallas on January 8 and 9. Glee's casting director Robert Ulrich is looking for quadruple threats. You need to sing, dance, act and have a big personality. Plus you need to be over 18 but look under 18. In other words you have to pass for a high school student.
Musical theater experience is helpful but not essential.

Chicago – Fox’s “Lie to Me” with Tim Roth and Kelli Williams proved to be a summer 2010 smash, finishing the just-wrapped season as one of the most-watched programs in key demographics. The tale of a team of professional human lie detector tests should still be waiting for the right moment to start its third season, but so few people watched the critically acclaimed “Lone Star” that it became the first casualty of the 2010 to 2011 season. This opened the door for “Lie to Me” to return tonight on Oct. 4, 2010.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
“Lie to Me” started a little muddled but gained serious focus when the great Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”) took over the program and evolved it into more than just another generic mystery-of-the-week series. Tim Roth’s Cal Lightman became much more than just a cog in the serial machine and the program developed a loyal audience. The writing improved, the performances became more refined,...

The first (maybe) in what will undoubtedly be a long string of big-budget punishments for the popularity of Lost, NBC‘s The Event is filled to bursting with misdirection, pseudo-camp drama, and the kind of “shockers” that not only force your brain to include the cover track “Dun Dun Dunnnnnn”s, but are difficult describe outside the realm of nonsensical soundbites and liberal repetition of “really”s.
Following the life of random nobody Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), the President of the United States (Blair Underwood), and everyone in-between, the show takes viewers on a wild ride investigation into an incredible cover-up, and the mysterious detainees who are apparently connected with same.
Jumping around in time, for no reason apart from the fact that it is “all clever and whatnot,” we watch as Sean sort of tries to hijack a plane, then move back and forth between his less-than-stellar efforts to talk to the pilot,...

Chicago – In a world where it’s becoming increasingly difficult for many people to hold one job or keep together one family, it’s not hard to see audiences entertained by watching a man try to juggle two of each. Such is the story of “Lone Star,” a very promising Fox soap opera that could be a breakout hit of the season if it survives one of the toughest time slots of the week.
Television Rating: 4.0/5.0
With a pilot directed by Marc Webb (“(500) Days of Summer,” the “Spider-Man” reboot in pre-production), “Lone Star” fills a hole in the broadcast network schedule that you might not have even realized was there. The broadcast schedules have been overrun with procedurals (“NCIS,” “CSI”), reality shows, or high-concept dramas that want to be the next “Lost.” The result has been the disappearance of a genre that used to rule the ratings — the adult soap opera.

Chicago – Don’t tune in to the premiere of NBC’s “The Event” expecting answers to that oppressively-advertised question of what the title refers to, although the producers have made clear that it won’t be long before we know. Like a lot of sci-fi show premieres, the first episode of what NBC hopes will be a replacement for “Heroes” on Monday nights begins with more questions than answers.

In fact, the majority of the pilot of “The Event” comes from the “Wtf” school of storytelling in that you rarely have any idea what’s going on or why but you’re interested enough to not only stay tuned but instantly set your DVR for next week. The primary test for any pilot is whether or not it finishes in a way that makes you want to tune in for the second episode. It’s hard to believe...

Chicago – The broadcast network rookie class of 2009 was one of the best of all time with “Community,” “Glee,” “Modern Family,” “The Good Wife,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Middle,” and “Cougar Town” finding loyal fans. Even relative (and mostly canceled) missteps like “FlashForward,” “V,” “Mercy,” and “Melrose Place” were interesting disasters. Will the upcoming season continue the pattern or drop the broadcast nets back into the misery of being unable to find a new hit?
Don’t get your hopes up. Having seen at least rough cuts of all of the new programs except for the still-in-production “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” we can say without a doubt that this upcoming freshmen class will not produce the same number of all-stars as last year. Even the majority of the ten shows below are going to require some tinkering to stand out. It should be noted that most of what we’ve seen...

It hasn't even been two weeks since Zap2it reported that ABC cast Daniel Cosgrove in the role of young William Walker in its "Brothers & Sisters" two-hour flashback episode.
Now, reports say that Cosgrove has been replaced and former "Melrose Place" hunk, Colin Egglesfield, has stepped into young William Walker's shoes.
We last saw Egglesfield as Auggie in The CW's "Melrose Place" reboot. The bartender, who struggled with his demons as a recovering alcoholic, shared a past with Sydney Andrews. After she was found dead, Egglesfield's character was accused of her murder and he made himself scarce.
As Zap2it's Korbi TV reported, Egglesfield's untimely departure from "Melrose Place" created a stir among its fans and we started a watch for where the handsome star would land next.
Now, it seems he has jumped networks to ABC and "Brothers & Sisters." If the news is true, we're sad to see Cosgrove go.

Things were looking up for Mark-Paul Gosselaar. He'd worked his way back into our hearts by dressing up as Zack Morris on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, TNT finally let him cut his hair, and he was enjoying a successful New York run of The Understudy (read the EW review). Then, the aforementioned network had to go and pull his sophomore drama Raising the Bar, citing underwhelming ratings. After two weeks off the air, Glee returns tonight, hopefully bringing answers to the show's growing love quadrangle! When we last left McKinley High, rivals Rachel and Puck managed to find common ground -- in Judaism -- and attempted a romance in the name of God. But Rachel quickly ended their fling after admitting she was still in love with Finn, and Puck similarly confessed his desire to be with Quinn. Not to be outdone by his students, Will set aside his own conflicted feelings and helped a lovesick Emma pick the perfect wedding dress to wear to marry Ken. The twinkle-toed teacher even lent Sue a hand, teaching her how to swing to "Sing, Sing, Sing." Could there be a happy ending in the future for this dueling duo? The cast of the quirky Fox musical comedy will receive the organization's 2009 award for favorite new diverse ensemble cast in November, according to Reuters. The series, which focuses on a less-than-cool high school glee club, mixes jocks and cheerleaders with a boy in a wheelchair (Kevin McHale), a geeky girl (Lea Michele), a gay student (Chris Colfer), an Asian goth (Jenna Ushkowitz) and an overweight African-American girl (Amber Riley).
"The bunch are determined to overcome the odds and make it to the big time both in high school and the world beyond," the Diversity Awards executive committee said in a statement.

Got a scoop request? An anonymous tip you’re dying to share? Just want to say hi? You can send any/all of the above to ausielloscoop@ew.com Question: G'day! How about you share some Glee scoop? —Vivian Ausiello: Okay, mate. There's a crazy-ass rumor going around that Will will discover Terri's faux baby plot, dump her, and then, in a moment of passion, get her pregnant for real! The really crazy-ass part? Sources confirm that two of those three things are true! And the other one? Not so much. Question: I loved the Rachel-Puck hook-up in last week's Glee!

TheCW has revamped their 90210 character pics. Not nearly as steamy as the Melrose Place and Gossip Girl shoots, but most definitely worth a gander. Click on through for an up close look.
A lot has changed in Beverly Hills over the past summer. Some friendships have solidified, while others have been destroyed in the aftershocks of the earthquake that was prom night. Some romances have bloomed, while others have wilted or died on the vine. Some characters have struggled in an effort to be understood, while others have done everything within their power to conceal who they are…and the horrible things they have done.
Season two of 90210 focuses on our group as they begin their all-important Junior year. They'll go through all the ordinary teenage struggles and triumphs – crushes, sexual discovery, academic pressure, evolving friendships, shunning and isolation, love and relationships, family issues, SATs, STDs, a desire to fit in,...

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has moved into Melrose Place, and she tells People that her offbeat character on the CW's revival of the primetime soap isn't all she appears to be. "She is a little weird," the actress told People Tuesday. "I have a so-called innocent side, but I think it's just the persona that I'm giving to people. I'm only setting people up." Describing her character, Simpson-Wentz says, "Her name is Violet and she's new to Melrose Place, new to L.A., looking for a family member -- looking for any kind of family, looking for love. She's really not accepted -- not just yet. I think that's something interesting, to play the outsider." Some of Violet's downfalls include, "obsessing over things and people," says the actress. "Anyone that's willing to be like, 'I'll help you out,' she finds an obsession with them.” Watch a Melrose Place promo featuring Simpson-Wentz.

Chicago – The networks announce their fall schedules this week and Eliza Dushku fans will be happy that her on-the-bubble show from TV genius Joss Whedon, “Dollhouse,” got a last minute reprieve from the TV gas chamber and will be on the Fox fall schedule. While “Dollhouse” made the cut, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” was shown the door.
The rest of the Fox fall schedule was relatively predictable. We knew by now that “Prison Break” has been cancelled and that “24” wouldn’t come back until mid-season, but Fox did relocate a number of series, moving new shows “Lie To Me” and “Fringe” to new nights.
Dollhouse: When a traitor is discovered inside the Dollhouse, Echo (Eliza Dushku) is programmed as a spy hunter to uncover the culprit in the Dollhouse episode "A Spy in the House of Love" airing Friday, April 10 (9:01-10:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox.

Chicago – Ryan Murphy is not a TV writer who believes in following the rules. He reached nearly iconic status from the loyal followers of FX’s “Nip/Tuck” and is trying to create water-cooler TV yet again with Fox’s very unique “Glee,” a show that we’ll review later this week (but you can check out a great clip here if you’re impatient).
“Glee” debuts on Fox…in the Fall? In an unusual move, the network is using the juggernaut of “American Idol” to introduce audiences to their new show next Tuesday, May 19th, 2009, but it won’t air again until the beginning of the 2009-10 season. Get your taste now and have the full meal in the fall. It’s an interesting idea.
Murphy took time out of his busy schedule for a conference about the new show and we have the highlights. Don’t miss our...

Television Rating: 1.5/5.0 Chicago – By its very nature, reality television is formulaic. “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” “Project Runway,” “Top Chef” - They all follow the same structure every year. But good reality TV mixes it up with interesting competitors and enough variety to keep viewers interested. It has gotten to the point where you can barely tell one episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” from another one, much less from season to season.
It’s crystal clear that Fox and Gordon Ramsay are not even remotely interested in fielding the most talented team of potential chefs. That’s the goal of Bravo’s excellent “Top Chef”. “Hell’s Kitchen” is the “American Idol” auditions of cooking shows. They need two to three people who can actually cook, so they can crown a winner, but the other dozen or so wouldn’t survive a day in a high school cafeteria.
