A decade ago, director David Bruckner made a valiant attempt to get a new Friday the 13th film into production… it just didn’t happen. Years later, he did manage to reboot the Hellraiser franchise, with his version of Hellraiser getting released through the Hulu streaming service back in October of 2022. Surprisingly, a year and a half has gone by since that release and we haven’t heard anything about the possibility of a follow-up – until now. During a chat with ComicBook.com, producer Keith Levine confirmed that they are having conversations about making a Hellraiser sequel.
Levine said, “We are trying to do a follow-up and there have been conversations. I can’t exactly say where we’re at in those conversations, but Bruckner is involved in those conversations and we spent a lot of time and energy, I think relaunching that world. A lot of brainpower going into crafting the Cenobite design,...

At the outset of PBS’ docuseries Fight the Power: How Hip-Hop Changed the World, Chuck D asserts, “[In 2020], the Black Lives Matter protests wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for hip-hop.” It’s a lofty statement, as anti-establishment organizing and revolt have existed since Black people were brought to America. Hip-hop has augmented social movements since its 1973 founding; as Lupe Fiasco notes in the finale of the four-part series, ”Hip-hop is gonna supply you the theme song for the moment.”

For several years, the Halloween and Hellraiser franchises were housed at the same studio. That’s no longer the case, so it’s a cool coincidence that we’re getting new additions to both of those franchises this October. A Hellraiser reboot is scheduled to arrive first, set to be released through the Hulu streaming service on October 7th. The new Halloween sequel, Halloween Ends, will follow a week later, reaching both theatres and the Peacock streaming service on October 14th. In anticipation of these release dates, USA Today has unveiled new images from each film: one giving another look at Pinhead, who is played by Jamie Clayton in the Hellraiser reboot, and the other offering a glimpse at the Michael Myers vs. Laurie Strode showdown we’ll be witnessing in Halloween Ends. Both images can be seen at the bottom of this article.

The teaser, embedded above, for the Hellraiser reboot gave us a glimpse of Jamie Clayton (Sense8) as Pinhead, and yesterday we got the first actual picture of Clayton’s Pinhead. Fans have been sharing their opinions on this take on the character… but what does the original Pinhead, Doug Bradley, think about Clayton stepping into the role that made him a genre icon? Our friends at Bloody Disgusting shared what Bradley had to say about the casting while he was making an appearance at the Silver Scream Con in Massachusetts:
It seemed like [a female Pinhead] was coming. It’s an interesting piece of casting. I don’t know Jamie. Of course, they’ve taken even a little bit of a wrinkle in that, because Jamie is transgender. I’m not familiar with her recent work, but there was a science fiction series on Netflix several years ago called Sense8, which I was quite a fan of.

Hulu has announced that its reimagining of the 1987 horror classic Hellraiser will debut exclusively on the streamer in the U.S., as part of its annual “Huluween” celebration of fright-filled content, on October 7.
The original film, which introduced horror fans to the iconic monster known as Pinhead, watches as a woman comes upon the newly resurrected, partially formed body of her brother-in-law. She then starts killing for him to revitalize his body, so that he can escape the demonic beings that have been pursuing him after he himself made his way out of their sadistic underworld. Clive Barker directed the pic from his own script, which was itself based on his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, with Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, Andrew Robinson, Sean Chapman, Robert Hines, Doug Bradley, Nicholas Vince, Simon Bamford, Grace Kirby and Oliver Smith starring.

All Rise will be back in session this summer on OWN.
While it was initially reported that the CBS-turned-own legal drama would be back in the spring, the cabler announced Wednesday that it would be back in June.
The news broke during the virtual Television Critics association.
On the casting front, there will be some changes.
Marg Helgenberger has been confirmed to return in the recurring role of Judge Lisa Benner.
Helgenberger's future on the show was up in the air when the star booked a pilot before the show was revived.
She is also in talks to return to the CSI universe, but hey, at least Judge Benner will be a part of the new season.
Christian Keyes is set to take over the role of Lola's husband Robin. The role was previously played by Todd Williams.
Simone Missick will reprise her role as Judge Lola Carmichael.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s virtually made All Rise season finale.
The most shocking thing about tonight’s remotely produced All Rise is how quickly the artifice of the Season 1 finale of the Simone Missick-led legal drama becomes the backdrop to a very well-crafted tale of our coronavirus pandemic Los Angeles times.
After weeks of safer-at-home orders here in the City of Angels and an almost overabundance of Zoom series reunions, virtual table reads and benefit specials, the end of the not-yet-renewed All Rise had all the hallmarks to be a contrived bore. Yet, with the limitations of social distancing defining the format and the narrative, too, that is the complete opposite of what the episode, “Dancing at Los Angeles,” penned by Greg Spottiswood and Greg Nelson, nicely turns out to be.
No real spoilers here, though, because I do think you should tune in...

On September 7, the unholy evil in holy guise is back in the horror thriller “The Nun,” the latest chapter stemming from James Wan’s “Conjuring” universe, with an entire film dedicated to the origin of her horrifying visage.
Audiences got their first frightful glimpse of the demonic Nun Valak, who plagued Lorraine Warren’s visions and filled her with dread in the horror hit “The Conjuring 2.” In “The Nun,” the epic battle of good vs. evil pits a priest with a dark history and a novitiate whose own past isn’t the only thing that haunts her against the blasphemy that is the Demon Nun.
The new fright-fest is directed by Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”) and produced by James Wan, and Peter Safran, the latter of whom has produced all the films in “The Conjuring” franchise.

We have more of almost everything at the movies these days, with one glaring exception: we don’t have nearly as many action heroes as we used to. Sure, there are plenty of action films opening with stars or up and comers in leading roles, saving the day, but very few true “action heroes”. One notable modern exception is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a certified A-list star of the action genre. He’s come a long way from just being The Rock, either in wrestling or his first on screen roles, but even removed from that, he’s a charismatic screen presence that holds the action hero title these days with aplomb. This week, he further cements his status with the disaster movie San Andreas. In San Andreas, we get west coast spin on the disaster movie, leaving New York City alone for a moment to focus in on California.

Though Kylie Minogue is best known for her singing career, having won a Grammy Award, released 12 albums and served as a judge on the U.K. version of The Voice, she actually got her start as an actress on the soap opera Neighbors. Since then, she’s dabbled in acting a few times, appearing on an episode of Doctor Who and in films like Moulin Rouge!, Jack & Diane and Holy Motors. Now, she’s signed on for another supporting role, in the Dwayne Johnson-led earthquake thriller San Andreas.
Minogue’s role is being kept under wraps for the time being, but the film stars Johnson as a special ops firefighter who, along with his ex-wife (Carla Gugino), makes the perilous trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco in search of their daughter (Alexandra Daddario) after the ‘Big One’ hits and utterly decimates California. With The Day After Tomorrow director Roland Emmerich now pursuing (slightly) more serious fare than his usual effects-driven blockbusters, there has been a certain deficiency of big-budget disaster thrillers at the box office lately. And unless you count the found-footage film Into the Storm, this summer won’t offer much for fans of the subgenre. The summer of 2015, however, is a different story. In June of next year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will star in an epic disaster thriller titled San Andreas, which explores what happens when a colossal, long-dreaded earthquake devastates the West Coast.
In addition to offering plenty of jaw-dropping sequences of destruction and explosive action scenes, San Andreas may also offer some moments of genuine drama, if its strong cast is any indication. Today, Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four) signed on for the film, joining Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Colton Haynes, Art Parkinson, Archie Panjabi, Morgan Griffin and Todd Williams.
